   How do Europeans view the immigration of muslims/africans?
   
   Just wondering if anyone from europe who has a first person view could tell me how europeans typically view immigration by muslims and or africans into their countries?
   Im looking for different viewpoints
   ex. Some europeans believe ____, while others believe____.

   I can only answer you how I see it. I'm from Belgium by the way.
   
   Immigration goes back countless years. In the sixties Belgium was looking for workers for it's industry and coal mines. A lot of Morrocan, Italian and Turkish people came to our country in search of a better life. When the mines closed a lot of these people were left in poverty.
   
   Nowadays, immigrants that are coming in to our country are fleeing from wars and terrorism.
   
   I've always been pro-immigration. You can't blame people for trying to find a better life for their children. I often ask myself "What would I do?".
   However, I also believe in regulations and laws and I don't think we should open the gates for everybody.
   
   People are often afraid of things they don't know or understand. I have a lot of muslim collegaes, and I consider many of them my friends. Our beliefs are different but when we talk about it (and we talked about it more the last couple of weeks, with all the terror concerns), we understand that both our religions are based on respect, charity and peace. Extremists can be found in any religion.
   
   We shouldn't forget they also add value to our society. A lot of first-generation immigrants and their children, set up their own businesses. Some are small, other large and sometimes even providing employment for Belgians.

      Very good answer. I can relate to the situation here in the US with hispanic immigration on the rise. I am pro-immigration as long as it is legal immigration. A lot of illegals here take advantage of benefits without paying taxes, etc.

   "f.. off home!", sorry if that's blunt but does highlight the strength of opinion.  from every-one I come across. it is viewed as an invasion, with stupid eu laws at the route of it making uk powerless to defend her borders.  many if not all I speak to at least believe that the great has gone out of Britain, and we were a stronger country without Europe -and American influences for that matter.
