Should Russia be allowed to re-join G7? Why is it not in the group now? What can Russia add to effectiveness of G7?
No, Putie wants to get back in and naturally Trump wants him in as well. That's enough for me to be against it. They were punished by Obama and deserved it.
So Obama proposed that he be expelled and they voted on it?
Yes Diane, both the senate and the house voted for the sanctions, and Trump had no choice but to apply them because a veto would be easily blocked by congress.
And now Trump claims he's very tough on Russia even though he didn't want the sanctions applied. Of course, he takes credit for things he shouldn't as usual.
In case you have heard, he is also claiming to be God!
In his mind and that of his fellow miscreants, Diane.
Hi Diane, I think this could be a good topic. I don't know much about it, but I think your last question is an important one.
Referring to Randy's comment, I think Putin's expulsion was a prestige thing, as in his loss of it. Considering what I think I know about Putin I think that might have stung.
Maybe we can find out exactly what the G-7 does and whether Russia could add anything if it was a member. Or whether Russia's absence hinders the G-7.
Hopefully, some folks might look around and address those questions.

If Russian oligarchs co-signed loans for Trump, it would clearly explain his Russian stance. I'm waiting to see how this unfolds.
The G7 is the most influential organization in the world concerning world finance. Russia was expelled in 2014 because it invaded Crimea. In 2018 there was some question of whether the U.S. would remain in very long after Trump left a meeting in Quebec early, and basically the coalition told Trump "don't let the door hit you in the ass" on your way out. There was some anger and resentment over Trump's U.S. tariffs that were adversely affecting some of those countries.
Members of G7, are also the largest contributors to the U.N. Since Russia is not a major contributor to world economy, it's presence apparently is not needed in the G7. Apparently Trump just wants his buddy Putin to be a member. Another reason Russia is not needed, in my opinion, is because Russia can be very disruptive to the U.N. and NATO.
I'm wondering how the U.S. will fare if our economy keeps falling under Trump's tax cuts. He is demanding more tax cuts for the American people, something of which the fed disagrees. So our future in the G7 may still be in jeopardy.

Thanks MizBejabbers. Or, should I say 'thanks for nothing' (;-)) because now you have piqued my interest in the G-7 and added to my list of things I should learn more about. Particularly the part about Russia not being a major contributor to the world economy

Russia's GDP, ranked by it's PPP (Purchasing Power Parity) ranks #6 in the world, above the UK, France, Italy and Canada.
I confess, though, that I'm not very familiar with the PPP term. Is the nominal GDP a more reasonable figure to use than the purchasing power parity?

I've tried to piece together a timeline of potentially related events related to the sale of a Russian oil company that shed some light on why allegations of collusion between Trump, his staff and Russian officials, have been taken seriously enough to be investigated. Some of the original sources...

I think harris lacks a lot in debate skills. She avoids questions from the press. Interviews she has done are very few. With the one national press interview done by her she was accompanied by her VP. It was taped. harris will have a difficult time answering questions...

Right now it looks like Putin/Trump are in agreement about the hacking. Can this issue be addressed without being partisan? Is the future of US democracy at stake? What are Trump's advisors telling him?

Neither candidate has zeroed in on the best way to deal with current foreign affairs/wars. What will JDT do about Israel/Hamas/Iran?What will JDT do about Ukraine /Russia?What will Harris do about Israel/Hamas/Iran?What will Harris do about Ukraine/Russia?After all, "Before he/(she) enter on...

http://www.cnn.com/2016/12/16/politics/ … index.html is an article about the "war within the GOP" regarding sanctions. It is so bad it may scuttle Trump's choice for Sec State. The fact is, because Congress could not govern, Obama used executive orders to institute sanctions...

I guess in this situation I do have a bias. I'm Ukrainian. I have relatives in Ukraine. I've been to Ukraine more than once. I have a bias, but I may also have a bit more insight into the situation.Russa invaded Ukraine in 2014. The propaganda will say it was Ukrainian...
