Assuming you saw the youtube video, what are your thoughts on it?  And how much of what Malcolm X said back then still relevant in today's era?

      Alright, Steven,

What was the scene at the time Malcolm did the interview?

      1963-1965

There was a nascent black nationalist movement that was represented by the Muslims, in whose publication "Mohammed Speaks" highlights the views of self reliance and separatism, but could never get far because of the dearth of resources in the African American community as the "MAN "and the "SYSTEM" made certain of that. But the publication was certainly on our coffee table in the time of my youth. Much of this viewpoint was taken by radical groups like the Black Panthers. While they were considered criminals in the mainstream, much of their self-help, self reliance mantra was on the right track as far as I was concerned. But they were dispersed, harassed and hunted down by Hoover and his FBI.

Then there were the "liberals", brother Malcolm was speaking about. The accomodationists, the gradualists, etc., represented during the JFK-LBJ administrations. These men and their allies wanted to move the ball down the court but maintain the system that is exploitative by its very nature. ML King came to see the futility of the current system toward the end of his life, with his attack on the Vietnam War and some of Capitalism's basic premises. But in the early Sixties the accomodationists were our best hope toward addressing long suffered grievances. And I am sure that there were many very authentic and sincere people among this group who really wanted to make things better. What progress in racial justice that has taken place since the early 1960's should be credited to this group.

Then, of course, there were the Barry Goldwaters, Lester Maddox, George Wallace, etc. While Goldwater was not a racist, his unrealistic view of States Rights planted him firmly on the "wrong side". These men and their supporters were not only fighting to stand still but wished to go backwards.

So, what choice did we have?

Malcolm was right, but working solutions were few. Today, structural inequality, the sort that Dr. King had to acknowledge late in his campaign, is the problem today. This is the most basic struggle between the have and the have nots for some sort of parity on the playing field. In regard to big picture, racial inequity is just a component of a larger problem.  And by supporting candidates willing to address the "big picture", as opposed to accomodationists and the "parternalism approach", I respond favorably to Malcolm's message as relayed in this interview.

So where do you feel you are at then, when the Democrats select Biden as their nominee, as they surely will?

I wouldn't even call that 'accomodationist' I would call that a step back towards what was.

I find the concept being fed by the left-leaning media that Trump has moved the country back, that he wants to go back to 'the way it was'... if by that they mean everyone having jobs, and wages improving I would agree... but that's not their meaning, they mean social inequality for blacks, I would like to see the evidence of this, not just the rhetoric.

Biden represents the worst of the establishment and more-of-the-same, he is not a advocate for positive or progressive change.  If he wins, taxation for not having insurance returns, China goes back to being uncontested in its advancement to global dominance, regulations get piled back on by executive order which will reverse the growing economic trends of the past 3 years.

Electing a corrupt establishment hack is not the direction to a better country, not even if he is replacing Trump.

In 50 years, my expectations have change, accommodation is now akin to "standing still". Biden is not my choice as moving forward is my goal. I really do not want to see Biden get the nomination, and I am not as certain as you seem to be that it will be a sure thing.

I loathe Trump and his policies and approach even more than I do Biden, so as I did with H. Clinton, I take the least problematic of the two. Our party, by offering mediocrity, takes all that much more risk of a Trump victory next year.

I would have to write a dissertation regarding my attitude and fundamental distrust of Trump, Republicans and conservatives in general. There is not the room here.

Trump, although not an establishment hack is a oligarchic hack in and of himself. In these current times, that is a problem in and of itself. Trump IS a Republican with his party's view and values entrenched as part of administration and policies. I don't care if he were an angel, I could never support this GOP as they are on principle.

Credence, try and see the long play, consider this in terms of a chess game, see five moves ahead.

You are not progressing ANY of the things you believe in, if Biden is elected, whether it be for African Americans or some other ideal.  Biden in every sense is nothing more than a stooge for corporations and banking as corrupt as any politician can be, right along with what Clinton was.

            How did we get Trump?

25 years of abuse and corruption in D.C.

From Bush to Clinton to Bush to Obama, China was ignored, wars kept expanding throughout the Middle East (minus Clinton I give you, but he paid a hefty price for initially fighting the establishment... and like Clinton, Trump got impeached for his interference).

D.C. got progressively bolder with their efforts to screw over Americans, from the repeal of the Glass Steagall Act, to NAFTA, to the passing of the ACA and bailing out the bankers... the mainstays in Congress & D.C. have made themselves into mega-millionaires at our expense.

A vote for Biden is a vote to going back to being screwed on every front.

But what if Trump is re-elected?

What if the Republicans get full control of D.C. in 2020?

The pendulum of politics in America always swings the other way... how hard it swings depends on how far one side pushes the envelope.

The Democrats with their total control, burdened America with the ACA, and did little else of note, happy that they found a way of making the Insurance and Medical Industries even richer at the expense of average Americans.  All under the guise of helping a few million Americans that couldn't get insurance because they were ill. A few million that could have easily been incorporated into Medicaid and far less disruptive to the system in place.

But then, they wouldn't have been able to initiate their tax on people without insurance, either.

If you REALLY want change, you don't support a establishment stooge, that's not change.

Its chess, four more years of Trump, means the Democratic Party gets the cleansing it desperately needs.  The likes of Pelosi and Biden and Clinton are shown the door, one way or another.

If you want a real revolution, it first has to start within the Party.  And that won't happen if Biden wins the nomination, and then wins the election.

That, in fact, will kill any hopes of real change, and the benefit of having Trump be the instigator of that positive change will be lost forever.

Don't you see... the insiders know like I know... and they are desperate.  That is why Biden is their man, and they will support him with everything they have like they did Clinton.

Because 4 more years of Trump might bring real change, and real revolution, which will begin in the Democratic Party and sweep the nation in 2024.
