Jared Kushner is in charge!
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/02/opin … virus.html
Think of all the people Trump could have put in charge of directing resources during this pandemic and he chose Jared Kushner. Here's a great quote by Jared:
According to Sherman, when New York’s governor, Andrew Cuomo, said that the state would need 30,000 ventilators at the apex of the coronavirus outbreak, Kushner decided that Cuomo was being alarmist. “I have all this data about I.C.U. capacity,” Kushner reportedly said. “I’m doing my own projections, and I’ve gotten a lot smarter about this. New York doesn’t need all the ventilators.”
Once again, Kushner, like Trump, is his own expert. Another bit from the piece:
Kushner, Bernstein told me, “really sees himself as a disrupter.” Again and again, she said, people who’d dealt with Kushner told her that whatever he did, he “believed he could do it better than anybody else, and he had supreme confidence in his own abilities and his own judgment even when he didn’t know what he was talking about.”
This way, Trump can be sure that resources go to the governors who are "nice" to him. And properly grateful, of course.
Crank I really don't get your incessant need to focus on Trump and bash what he does.
You are too well educated to have such a myopic fixation on Trump's daily faux pas.
What about the bigger picture that is occuring, the massive amounts of money being flushed into the system (mostly given to the rich) at the same time all 'non-essential' businesses are being shut down.
The U.S. Government calling back all American citizens from everywhere, the world over.
National Guardsmen being called up and deployed slowly but surely throughout the States.
There are some serious issues going on, focusing on a particular Trump decision or fumbling of words is such wasted effort.
We are at the very beginnings of major, major change to our world... the types of change only seen once in a century. Trump is the least of our problems, no matter how you slice it... global economic collapse... world pandemic that will kill tens of millions... civilization's collapse around the globe as people riot in search of food.
I realize many people can't project out to where things are going...
Its why so many people go bankrupt over and over again, its why so few have even $1,000 in the bank... yes many don't have the opportunity... but many also make more than I do, and they are still broke, because they are idiots who spend beyond their means and don't think about what tomorrow may bring.
Its discouraging to come on here and see people wasting their time bashing the President, as if it will change anything, you can bet he will still be President well after 2020... this isn't even debatable anymore, just like when FDR was President there is no way in hell the country is going to change Administrations during the middle of the biggest disaster(s) to hit our country in 80 years.
Ken, you're frequently very interesting. This post is one such case.
And you're right that bashing Trump is mostly a waste of time because his supporters will never be persuaded that he is dangerous.
The specific points you are making about society are things I agree with. You should start another forum where we can discuss it. I think a future of bigger government is all but inevitable - as if it could get bigger.
I don't really need to restate what the New York Times writer has eloquently explained. It's pretty clear.
I would not be surprised if he gets re-elected. I find it nothing short of hysterically sad that sites like CNN run their polls showing Biden leading Trump or people preferring Biden, as if that means anything. They've apparently learned nothing from the last election.
Also, if it makes you feel any better, it's really at your behest that I've decided to wean myself off CNN. I've always regarded it as trash, but read it for convenience. You just sort of made me realize what I knew anyway, which was that relying on it is just wrong. It's just the left-wing version of Fox, maybe a bit better. But you're right, TV news is just garbage.
Its sounds like you have reached the point I did, years ago, regarding CNN, but for me it was Fox news. Fox has changed in recent years, back when they were doing their Benghazi investigations they were worth watching for serious don't-miss news.
However, the NY Times has fallen much further than Fox (of course it was at one point a more prestigious and respected news outlet) it is not much more than a gossip rag today, filled regularly with falsehoods, bias and agenda pushing.
"Should make NYers dizzy with terror"... Yes, what a great article you linked to.
That's exactly what we need in these times... hyperbolic reporting, pushing the buttons of panic and loathing for the one man, like him or not, that has to bring the Country through this mess.
Some times its necessary to take off the diapers and put your adult pants on, do the right thing, recognize there is something more important at stake. The Democrats, and the MSM that supports them, are failing horribly in this moment to do anything positive for the country.
Let me Project a scenario we are getting closer to each day:
Global economic collapse, the dollar, everyone's savings, 401ks, etc. becoming worthless.
Pandemic that is uncheckable for the next 18 months, as they fail to come up with a vaccine in the first year, it will travel around the world in waves much like the Pandemic from 1917-1920 did.
Mass starvation that kills off tens of millions in the poorer nations, civil unrest and lawlessness in the better off ones.
Now is not the time to entertain imbeciles like Schiff, now is not the time to print idiotic stories like that. These people are the problem, that is slowing the response, and taking attention away from what the real warriors (Nurses, Doctors, Researchers, Police) and leaders need to be focusing on... Trump is not the problem, he is the one that is running the country's response to this... he needs supporters, not idiot members of the media harassing him with idiotic questions.
Gloom and doom, Ken! Why didn't Trump warn us?
Randy, I do appreciate your perspective, if I were living on a nice country ranch, well away from the masses, and the coming trails for those living in urban centers, I would be much more quick to quip myself.
The luxury of being well off, and well protected... and well away from others.
I appreciate Randy's perspective much more too, because no matter what form of argument is used and what sources can verify the veracity, no Pro-Trumper will ever change the view that he's a great leader.
In that environment, only quips seem worth my time.
I don't know about being a "leader" - don't really think that fits with most of the population here.
But he has done more good for the country than the last few presidents combined. Starting with the much ballyhooed idea that America and Americans come first, to him.
It's why I choose to live here, Ken. I do believe you're blowing this out of proportion, though. I only "quip when the comment calls for it, or is so ridiculous there's not much else to say in response.
I'll leave the light on for you...
Sure Randy, anything that you determine is "so ridiculous"...
Check out this video, go to 12:25 and watch for a while, most likely, you don't know what you don't know, making you ill fit to decide what is "so ridiculous".

I did Ken, not impressed by those who want to sell books or other stuff on Youtube. My nephew flew Blackhawks and Apache helicopters and was in a famous rescue of a downed fighter pilot in Kosovo. He flew cover while his friend made the rescue.
We didn't learn this until after he retired from the military. I admire all veterans of the military, but I don't always trust those who try to profit from it. Just saying...
The point was their discussion on the media, and politicians, when they touched on it. I thought you might like to hear it from someone who would know better than almost anyone else, including myself.
I guess not, very admirable that you will stick to your beliefs no matter what is presented or who is presenting it.
Are you saying they don't lie about things, Ken? Colonel Vindman was called a liar by some on your side, as well as the Ambassador during the Impeachment Inquiry.
And indeed I do take some seriously, but not all of them. Not a fan of Youtube for facts, from anyone. Sorry.
How you feel about Schiff is how a lot of us feel about Trump. Perhaps when you change your tune about Schiff, we'll change ours about Trump?
The link goes to an opinion piece, clearly marked as such. That's what's so bad about CNN, even their news is opinion and they don't differentiate anymore. And I disagree about the newspaper. Still among the most respected newspapers in the world. They may have a bias, what newspaper doesn't, but they have standards they follow before printing a story - source verification; etc. which most of the "publications" used on these forums to verify "truth" do not, including many of yours.
Fox hasn't really fallen anywhere. They were bad and got worse, so perhaps you're right about how far they've fallen relative to others.
I realize many people can't project out to where things are going...
Nobody can, Ken, and I wouldn't trust anyone who says they could. I can tell you, like with my extrapolation about who is behind threatening Dr. Fauci, using logic doesn't seem to matter to many people. (and that's coming from somebody who basically agrees with the conclusions you are drawing, which are logical conclusions based on the evidence)
"The U.S. government calling back Americans", it will hit Mr. Trump selection being President again undoubtedly. Our discussions won't have any aftereffects on this however The Illustrators can get better directions.

Simply put, In response to a question: 'Are you worried about what China might do?" Pres. Biden replied, casually, ( to paraphrase): 'I'm not worried, I don't think they are going to do anymore.' In the midst of this serious situation, he publicly dismisses China. Considering my view of the...

the people of US voted for Trump and elected him as president. We should all accept it as this is democracy. President Trump will work for the country and its people, he is a hard working person and I am confident he will prove to be a very good president.
