Infamous gangsta rapper, Ice Cube, has gone on record recently demanding Democrats  not only name exactly what they're going to do to help the black community, but he seems to imply that the Democrats need to earn the black vote this year rather than take it for granted that they have it in the bag.  What are your thoughts on this?

Here's the video link for those of you who want to hear this straight from his own mouth:

Edit:  Keep in mind, he did NOT advocate for the republican party either, as he claims both parties need to earn the black vote.  Just to be clear.

It still comes down to the lesser of the two evils. The Democrats can always do better, but they are not active in reversing what progress has already been made. I am not that comfortable with the GOP.

In these times, I have reluctantly supported the party that is the least problematic rather than being able to vote for what I prefer.

Earn the black vote? My thoughts --- Choosing a candidate always lead me to consider the candidate's past actions, and what they are offering in regard to policies. Who did they choose for VP. I would think black people would do the same. Curious to think this rapper would ask the candidates to "earn black peoples votes".  How does one do this, with words, promises? That's what black people have received from both parties for years. How has that worked out?

At this point, maybe it's time to do some research looking at what the candidate has done up to now for black people. Not sure a lot of promises should be trusted or considered as points towards earning a vote. Maybe think deeds...

I don't think in a very long time we have had a candidate and his VP that have very poor records when it comes to helping black citizens. hey, just my view.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris do not have a very good reputation for helping black people in general. Trump, has done some positive things to actually help the black community. No promises, but completed deeds.

One must look into the past --- in regard to Kamla Harris, her past show her to be unfeeling toward black citizens...Her deeds speak loud and very clear.

In 2011, the Supreme Court demanded the state of California reduce its prison population by 33,000 inmates in the next two years due to overpopulation resulting in starvation, inhumane treatment, and even death, according to NPR. However in 2014, according to the LA Times, federal judges "ordered that all nonviolent second-strike offenders be eligible for parole after serving half their sentence."

As stated by the LA Times, most of those prisoners were working as groundskeepers, janitors, and kitchen staff. AG Harris' lawyers argued in court that releasing them would drastically reduce their prison labor pool..

AG Harris then went on  ---" Sen, Kamala Harris (D-CA), a leading candidate to be Joe Biden’s running mate, repeatedly and openly defied U.S. Supreme Court orders to reduce overcrowding in California prisons while serving as the state’s attorney general, according to legal documents reviewed by the Prospect. Working in tandem with Gov. Jerry Brown, Harris and her legal team filed motions that were condemned by judges and legal experts as obstructionist, bad-faith, and nonsensical, at one point even suggesting that the Supreme Court lacked the jurisdiction to order a reduction in California’s prison population."

Seems to me Ice Cube should not ask others to do the work he should be doing. Seems as if he is willing to want to be convinced, who can offer him the best words... Maybe this is the problem?

      Interesting thread... got me thinking
