I just saw a Harris ad that starts with what looks like a working-class guy, then cuts to some women chatting about going against what their husbands told them to vote for. I had to take a break after that one—it seriously made me feel nauseous! But it got me thinking: hey ladies, sounds like you had to sneak around to cast your vote. What does that say? First off, why are you celebrating getting one over on your spouse? Maybe take a long look in the mirror; you chose your husband. The Harris ad implies you weren’t too bright in that choice and married a guy you seem afraid of, and now you feel the need to work around that poor decision by voting for a woman who’s belittling you. Yeah, this ad really reveals what she thinks about women in general.

If hiding your vote from your husband is a win for you, you’ve got bigger issues, my God! Harris's ad truly talked down to women; do you even realize it? Maybe that’s the root of your problem. The Democrats have a real talent for talking down to everyone, not just women. “You ain’t black enough,” “I’m gonna give you…” “I grew up middle class”—why should any of that not feel insulting?

Recently, Obama made comments that came across as talking down to men, particularly Black men. He urged them to "get over it" and support Kamala Harris, framing their hesitation as a matter of obligation rather than choice.

By the way, Melania Trump openly defended her views on abortion rights on national TV—yeah, the same woman many Democrats found nothing but fault with.

I think that Ad reaches to all the women who are NOT in a healthy relationship (which is probably the majority of American women these days) and how Feminists look at men in general.

But it was good for a laugh... at a time when they are needed.

Isn't that essentially what the Democrats are all about these days?

Insulting and tearing everything down that is "normal" or "patriarchal" or sane...

Tearing down the Nation's founders to tearing down moral norms to tearing down people like Elon Musk who represents what merit and achievement are all about...

Hard times ahead, the Biden Administration has made certain of that... war, economic catastrophe, civil unrest, all created in less than 4 years.

Harris will finish the job Biden started...

It about tearing down the edifice of bigotry and misogyny and acknowledging that we all have equal rights. If you are against that, then I have to stand against you and your followers.

Elon Musk has proven to be the jerk that I believe him to be, a proponent of the arrogance of wealth the very moment he joined the Trump team.

I, too, saw the commercial Shar and was ready to throw something  at the t.v.!
Between that commercial, women on the street with their Kamala love...  which they cannot explain. JLo's crocodile tears urging us to vote for Kamala in order to live or something lame like that. Liz Cheney with her feigned outrage at Trump's truth about her being a war monger and maybe she should be on the front lines of battle (which has been twisted to say he wants her executed!!!)
      Oh Lawd!!
All I can say is, girls, get a clue, and that I cannot vote for Donald J.Trump and J.D. Vance quickly enough!

Some of the comments are so sad. Some girls saying their dads were ok with what he said. My dad is a really good man, respectful  and not violent  at all. But if Trump were to say that in front of any of his daughters, I believe he would have punch him.

This ad was clearly aimed at liberal women, airheads, because no conservative woman would need help deciding who to vote for—and if her choice didn’t match her husband’s, well, that would be his problem. Honestly, the ad should’ve been insulting to any woman who saw it. It talked down to women—but that’s typical; they talk down to both women and men.

As for a man protecting a woman, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love this form of masculinity—it makes me feel cherished, loved, and respected. Just like when I tell my kids, grandkids, or friends, “I’m taking care of you, whether you like it or not.” I am a woman, and I love everything about it. As a woman,  I've achieved everything I set out to do, alongside a partner who would protect me with everything he’s got. That ad was an insult to strong, capable women like me.

The reality is that we have women who hide things or thoughts from their spouse for any number of reasons.  We have women that live with domestic violence .  We have women out here with no self-esteem, no confidence. Sadly, not every woman is as strong or capable as yourself. But  I don't think being conservative or liberal is a contributing factor to any of those circumstances.

You’re trying to change the subject pretty quickly here. This thread is about a Harris ad—one that many women find insulting. But I get it; you can’t seem to discuss her, can you? Looks like this thread struck a nerve since you had to dig way back for a distraction. Seems like that ad is a topic you’d rather avoid discussing.  You're baiting, and it's obvious.

That ad was geared toward liberal women. I mean who the hell else would buy into that crap.  Sorry, but no other way to express my thoughts.  It was a smart move, it caught the attention of liberal-minded women. It was soooo cute. They just don't get it--- they are being talked down to.  Pardon me I am going to upchuck.

This is drama of operatic proportions.   That is what people have to stoop to when they have nothing significant nor poignant to say.   The most gaudy person oftentimes has nothing to offer- they are just an empty shell of total insignificance. NEXT.

Strong women DON'T hide their votes.  They stand their ground no matter who they vote for.  If others don't like it, oh well.   It is better to be hated for who you are than to be loved for what you aren't.   There is a much better statement to voice my sentiments on the subject at hand, "It is better to reign in hell than to serve in heaven".    Who care if people dislike you, you LIKE yourself.

This. This is what gets you up in arms on behalf of your sisters?

Not a failure to provide us with health care, especially in an emergency?

Not a man saying it's OK to grab a woman - any woman - by her private parts?

Not a number of convictions resulting from a payoff to a porn star you committed adultery with?

But this: encouragement for women in a difficult situation.

My husband and I disagree on politics. He would smile and tell you he is well aware!

But I'm not in any danger. There is a difference.

    1. Sharlee01 profile image84

Sisters... What? Did you watch the ad? Debating the notion that women shouldn’t be upset about Kamala Harris's ad depicting women hiding their support for Harris brings up several reasons why this approach is neither positive nor representative of strong, intelligent women.

First, the ad undermines authenticity by suggesting that women must conceal their political beliefs, which contradicts the empowerment that should come from openly expressing one’s views. Strong, intelligent women are those who make informed decisions and stand by them, regardless of pressures from their husbands. Such messaging reinforces negative stereotypes about women being weak or indecisive, further contributing to a narrative that fails to respect diverse opinions.

Moreover, the ad fosters division among women, implying that supporting Trump is something to be ashamed of, which goes against the idea of building solidarity among all women. You mentioned, "Not a failure to provide us with health care, especially in an emergency?" Did the Biden/Harris administration do anything on the issue of healthcare? It seems neither Trump nor Biden has made substantial strides in this area.

I’m also puzzled by your statement:   "My husband and I disagree on politics. He would smile and tell you he is well aware! But I'm not in any danger. There is a difference."

It seems you’re suggesting that in the ad featuring two men, Trump supporters pose some sort of danger to their wives. Are you implying that male Trump voters are more likely to endanger their wives? This perspective strikes me as not just biased, but frankly strange.

"Debating the notion that women shouldn’t be upset about Kamala Harris's ad depicting women hiding their support for Trump "

Hang on now... I'm confused. I thought the ad was that the women were supporting Harris and the husbands were supporting Trump?  And the point of the ad was basically to say that your vote is private.

Trump: "I moved on her actually. You know she was down on Palm Beach. I moved on her, and I failed. I'll admit it. I did try and f*ck her, she was married."

      Unknown: "That's huge news there."

Trump: "No, no, Nancy. No this was [inaudible] and I moved on her very heavily in fact I took her out furniture shopping. She wanted to get some furniture. I said I'll show you where they have some nice furniture. I moved on her like a bitch. I couldn't get there and she was married. Then all-of-a-sudden I see her, she's now got the big phony tits and everything. She's totally changed her look."

Bush: "Your girl's hot as shit. In the purple."

      Multiple voices: "Whoah. Yes. Whoah."

Bush: "Yes. The Donald has scored. Whoah my man."

Trump: "Look at you. You are a p*ssy."

Bush: "You gotta get the thumbs up."

Trump: "Maybe it's a different one."

Bush: "It better not be the publicist. No, it's, it's her."

Trump: "Yeah that's her with the gold. I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful... I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star they let you do it. You can do anything."

Trump: "Grab them by the p*ssy. You can do anything."

Bush: "Yeah those legs. All I can see is the legs."

      Trump: "It looks good."

The context of "I am going to protect them whether they like it or not" was specifically about safeguarding women from violence by illegal migrants. He had just shown a video featuring the mother of Jocelyn Nungaray, a 12-year-old American girl who was tragically killed and raped by two illegal migrants, sharing her horrific story. Yes, Trump did say that, like it or not, he will protect women from illegal migrant criminals.

Yes, that video and all of the stories of the women and girls raped, chopped-up, strangled... their lives ended by the hands of REAL LIFE MONSTERS, who shouldn't even be here in the States!! Allowed in, provided a way to stay, by the sorry excuse of a VP, and a woman...Kamala. It is anguishing and heart-breaking Shar, but for the hate-filled, they cannot comprehend the message behind "protecting girls and women."

It’s astonishing how the left picks and chooses where to place their empathy and seems blind to the need to rid the country of migrant criminals. These are the individuals Trump is passionate about finding and removing. Just yesterday, Louisiana reported that an illegal migrant raped two little boys, ages 4 and 7. I don’t want to see any child suffer at the hands of these criminals. We already have enough problems with unstable American criminals in the country.

It strikes me as odd that this tape has resurfaced and is now trending. It certainly didn’t stop citizens from voting for Trump in 2016, so it seems strange to think it would carry any weight in the 2024 election. Ruminating on something that didn’t seem to affect anyone’s choice back in 2016 feels somewhat pointless.

Everyone has the right to vote however they choose, just like in 2016 when the tape was a huge topic. For those who are shocked by it now, I hope they realize that being president involves more than just wanting the title. Ideally, young women are weighing pros and cons, thinking critically about a candidate’s past performance, and sifting through rhetoric to see who brings real, practical ideas—not just empty promises of I am going to give you lots of stuff. Hopefully, they’re looking deeper than TikTok for research on who’s truly equipped for the job.

Maybe these two young women should put TikTok aside and take a real look into Harris’s track record. They could start with her Senate years, dive into her time in San Francisco, and especially her past four years with all the flip-flops. They might see her awkward interviews where she struggles to answer basic questions, or her historically low approval rating just a month before she was thrust into the presidential race. And maybe they’ll wonder why she never won a primary.

Sure, the nomination was “legal,” but what about the others who wanted a shot? I could hand these gals a list a mile long on Harris’s shaky background, but it seems they’re set on basing their vote on a years-old tape of Trump. Just the kind of deep thinkers we need to make us proud, right?

We really have to get past the superficial garbage of Trump's supposed character. We must realize and value the fact that he does not have a Marxist agenda.

Harris does. Do not over-look this realty. Attend to the task of preventing the stranglehold of totalitarianism implemented for pie-in the-sky reasons and utopian ideals by voting for Donald J. Trump. Do you want to preserve America or pretend that it cannot be destroyed.

At this point in time, America is still the land of the free, home of the brave and land of opportunity for all, based on the law and justice provided by our particular constitution. Trump is on the side of the Founding Fathers who gave us this document to protect our rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness. Harris will run roughshod over it ...
and kill it in her clumsiness.

People, male or female, have the right to vote for whomever their conscience dictates. If that is what Harris or her campaign is saying, I am all for it.

I did not watch SNL -- I deserted the show long ago.  I will admit, I can't stand her airhead demeanor or her voice. My bad. Truth.

She may dodge questions like it’s a sport, but hey, let’s not forget—she was middle class, folks! Her mom saved up and bought a house when she was 13. I mean, if you can hold onto that golden nugget of a story, you're all set for life. Forget the policies; just keep that heartwarming tale close, and you're good to go!

I don’t see her winning—it’s hard to imagine, but anything’s possible in politics. The vitriol lately has been intense. Did you catch Nancy Pelosi's interview on MSNBC last Friday? She was practically in a panic, claiming Trump wouldn’t even make it through a term due to “declining brain function.” Ironic, coming from someone who’s covered for a president showing plenty of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” vibes. Maybe she’s buying into Harris’s line about Trump’s “enemy list” and worries he’ll focus on her family if he wins. After all, Pelosi’s husband just sold over $500K of Visa stock shortly before the DOJ launched an antitrust suit—certainly an eyebrow-raiser!

This kind of news never makes it to the HP political forum, I mean no mention of Trump.

It made me wonder: is this how she wants to be remembered? With a twisted, angry expression, hate in her eyes, and lies coming from her mouth? Is this how all Democratic politicians end up?
