Biden says he intends to run in 2024 but has not made a firm decision as of yet..

President Biden in a new interview said he intends to run for re-election but has not yet made a “firm decision.”

“Look, my intention as I said to begin with is that I would run again,” Biden said in an interview with “60 Minutes” that aired Sunday. “But it’s just an intention. But is it a firm decision that I run again? That remains to be seen.”

“I’m a great respecter of fate. And so, what I’m doing is I’m doing my job. I’m gonna do that job. And within the timeframe that makes sense after this next election cycle here, going into next year, make a judgment on what to do,” Biden said.

Before we know it we will be facing the 2024 presidential election. Biden yes, has plenty of time to make his decision to run or not. So, what do you think should he or shouldn't he run?

Do you want Biden to run for a second term, and why?

Do you feel Biden should not run for a second term, and why?

I think the message of his answer was no. I'm sure we will hear the 'clarification' from the administration soon.

I had the same impression. So, did you like the photo? I thought he looked as if he was in deep thought. (not being sarcastic, just pulling your leg.)

Yes, Joe has time to decide. His age does work against him, to stay viable until January 20, 2029 is a stretch and puts him on the downslide toward 90 years old. Unlike the late Queen Elizabeth II, the Presidency is not a ceremonial position. He will need to have all cylinders engaged and at full efficiency. As with most human beings, that ability is not possible past a certain age.

But in the face of Republican madness, I will rather vote for him if  he does not  find a suitable heir apparent. I generally don't trust Republicans and short of the Democrat candidate being a corpse, I will Generally support the Democrat. Hopefully between now and 2024, we will have new leadership available, that will attract of our tribes without the geriatric issues having to be considered.

Just as a thought . . . where does his interview statement put VP Harris? Now she has to make a decision too. I think she would have stayed on the ticket with him in 2024, but what does she do now? She can't wait until 'time will tell' to pick a direction.

Or . . . would she be the automatic 'presumptive' Democrat nominee?

Yeah, I guess that makes her the lady in waiting. If Biden decides to run she could continue as his VP. But, if he doesn't, even as she would not be my preferred choice, I would have to support her at the head of the ticket in '24, if it comes to that.

I think the DNC would have a problem if Biden's answer prompted some viable candidate to test the waters, which, of course, will turn the media into sound-bite and 'expert' vultures. It's a sure bet the 'Right' media will headline it and the 'Left's' will have to respond.

I can only hope that if Joe decides not to run, he makes his decision sooner rather than later.

Just a thought --- do you feel no one in the Democratic party would challenge him?  I do realize this is not the expected norm. However, we are seeing many ignore the rules these days.

We don't have that problem. The party is generally behind Biden, until and unless he voluntarily steps down. Even on his left flank, we acknowledge that some progress is better than none at all.

Just a thought, if Biden runs, would he choose another VP? I think he may see that might be beneficial.  She is just not liked, and he could move to add someone that could help garner more votes. Perhaps someone with a bit more likeability.

One must keep in mind, that the Dems can be ruthless. They are also very smart, in my view, I would think they are done with Harris.

Oddly enough, in my circles, Harris is not seen as an ogre. Being to her left, I was frustrated with the administration's lack of progress and attributed much of that to her not lighting the fires hot enough and fast enough. Now, that Biden has accumulated a few wins, I don't think that neither he nor the Democratic Party establishment wants to change horses mid stream.

Could or I should say would the party support her?  Her polls are very poor, and she acctuly seems to have sat out her time as VP. Plus her likeability is to be kind and poor.

I will admit I hope she would end up the candidate. It certainly would be very interesting to watch her debate. She IMO would be a wonderful gift to the Republicans.

They might put Hilary in. Trump vs Hilary again?  or Newsom vs DeSantis?
Sorta depends on Trump, I guess. If they can't get rid of him, Hillary.

I would not be surprised to see Hillary run again if Biden steps away. She could give any Republican a run for their money. It would be the Republican's worse challenge.

I think Biden must retire otherwise he will be out of the  White House by being defeated.

I hope he does not run. I truely feel if the Republicans take the majority of Congress they will impeach him. I would rather not see another impeachment. It seems it may become gimmie for which ever power holds the Congress.

Oh no, if he decides to run again, SOME .........will vote for him.   Even though Biden was far from qualified to be President, many voted for him.  That demonstrates their character or lack thereof.

Watched it.   John F. Kennedy was such a great, promising president.  So sad that he was taken from us so soon.
