From my perspective, this report on a UN agency, following accusations of its staffers participating in the Oct. 7 Hamas attack, highlights numerous issues—glaring and deep ones. Some may prefer not to dwell on these problems, but I am open to exploring these reports.

Various countries are cutting funding to UN agencies after staffers have been  ACCUSED of participating in the Oct. 7 Hamas attack in Israel.
Quickly Italy, Australia, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Canada have pulled funding from the agency.

"A United Nations agency's alleged involvement in the October 7 terror attacks in Israel has led to widespread decisions to cut funding.

The United Kingdom, Canada, and other key Western powers have joined the United States in cutting funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees in the Near East after twelve employees were accused of being "involved" in the attack.

Italy, Australia, and Switzerland have also joined the boycott following the accusations, which have already resulted in the termination of multiple staffers.
The United States temporarily paused "additional" funding for the key United Nations agency in the Gaza Strip over allegations that some of its members were "involved" in the October 7 Hamas terrorist attack in Israel.

Twelve United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees in the Near East employees were allegedly "involved" in the attack, and the U.S. funding will resume subject to an investigation from the United Nations.

"UNRWA can read the Beltway press well enough to know that Congress is moving to cut off U.S. funding," Richard Goldberg, former National Security Council (NSC) advisor during the Trump Administration, told Fox News Digital.

"This is a PR move designed to preempt congressional action. It does nothing to change the fact that UNRWA is complicit in Hamas war crimes and remains a key obstacle to peace," Goldberg, currently a senior advisor at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, added.

The State Department under former President Trump cut ties with UNRWA in 2018, but President Biden resumed the relationship shortly after taking office. He continued to improve spending for the organization, with funds exceeding $1 billion. "

(Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant praised the U.S. decision as "an important step in holding UNRWA accountable." )

"At least a dozen UNRWA employees participated in the horrific attack conducted on Oct. 7: These are ‘humanitarian workers,’ with salaries paid for by international donations, with blood on their hands," Gallant said in a press release following the State Department's announcement.

UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini expressed shock at the accusations, assuring the international community that "any UNRWA employee who was involved in acts of terror will be held accountable, including through criminal prosecution."

Israeli intelligence and investigations in the months following the terrorist attack led to the accusations, which were presented to the UN this week."

Report connected to the allegations ---   Interesting article yet a report that needs to be vetted substantially by identifying the hostage's name and testimony, in my view.

" A Republican senator demanded Monday that the United Nations investigate an Israeli journalist’s allegations that one of its employees kept a hostage captive in his attic during recent fighting in the Gaza Strip.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) gave US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield and United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini until Dec. 18 to respond to the claims made by Israel Channel 13 reporter Almog Boker.

Boker reported Nov. 29 that he had interviewed the hostage following their release during a pause in fighting between the Israel Defense Forces and Hamas terrorists.

“One of the abductees who was held for almost 50 days in the attic of a house, says he was held by a [UNRWA] teacher!” the reporter wrote on X.

“This is a father of ten children who locked the abductee in the attic, hardly provided him with food, and did not provide him with medicine.”  This is a lengthy article, very interesting may want to read more   https://nypost.com/2023/12/04/news/repu … i-hostage/

Upon delving into the extensive history of U.S. support for the Palestinians spanning over 60 years, I find myself questioning the impact of our compassion. Despite the prolonged financial assistance, it appears that the people have not progressed beyond a cycle of violence, hindering their ability to thrive as a society.

Hopefully, you will share your thoughts.

This news report is most bizarre, because so many years ago a co-worker of mine traveled to Israel on vacation; and she showed me pictures of Israel and there were UN troops there protecting the state of Israel left and right.  If I remember correctly, they were UN Peacekeepers defending the safety of the Israeli people.  This was back when I was living in New York.  One has to be concerned about what made the United Nation change so drastically and so quickly in such a short time.  Then again, the United Nations have been doing a lot of unusual things lately.  They no longer have that positive reputation that they used to have in years past.

Revise my comment: This report truly surprised me! What's even more surprising is how swiftly the media moved on from covering it. Once again, we're promised an investigation, as it seems there's a real woman with a face and a name claiming to have been held hostage by a UNRWA employee in Gaza.

In my opinion, the UN seems like nothing more than an exclusive club, and I once held out hope that during Trump's presidency, he would have ousted them to foreign lands.

Yeah, unfortunately, the United Nations has been going downhill in recent years.  It's kind of sad, because at one time they were the go-to organization to solve world conflicts.  Now it appears that they are the cause of many problems throughout the planet.  The UN Peacekeepers are always getting caught up in scandals too.

When I was 14 years old, my parents and I first took a tour of the United Nations building.  It was interesting.  So many years later after I moved to New York City, I took that same tour again this time in Spanish to practice my Spanish.  Back then it seemed as though the United Nations was doing a lot of good things.  It's difficult to figure out what made that organization fizzle out so drastically.

A couple of people have told me that Amnesty International has been going through a similar decline in its reliability to run the proper type of interference in situations involving the violation of human rights, and they're not even a governmental organization.  What is the world coming to?

UNRWA has ties with Hamas, that's incredibly obvious.
UNRWA is a help organization specifically for Palestinians. No other group of people has a department at the UN especially for them. Not the refugees from Uganda, Mongolia, Eritrea, Republic of Congo etc.
UNRWA who receives over a billion dollars a year ($300 million from the US).
A billion a year! Now I don't know what happened with that money over the last 60 years but surely the "Palestinian state"/ Gaza strip could have been a much better place to live in if not all that money was spent to corrupt Hamas lunatics living in villa's abroad.
On the schools build with those billions hatred for Jews is taught day in day out over years on end.
What we (the west) have to understand is that Hamas is a religious sect using children as bombs, using their own citizens as human shields. This is okay for them, because it's a sacrifice to Allah. It's martyrdom.
Hamas is a death cult comparable to Nazi Germany. So if we scream today. "Free Palestine". We scream Palestine under a Sharia law. And as a women or homosexual you definitely don't want to live there.
Shout Free Palestine when you mean, kill Hamas and the religious fanatics like Hezbollah and Islamic State. Because those are the people who you have to fight against. Not Israel.
Should we not have bombed Germany to get the Nazis because it would mean a lot of innocent Germans would get killed?
Luckily the US, Canada and Russia did so, because otherwise Europe would still be under a Nazi regime.
Hamas, Hezbollah, Boko Haram, Islamic state don't stop. They have different moral codes. They don't give a damn about our liberal views on freedom of expression. They hate them. And that's why you can not negotiate with them as they have different values.
So should we stop funding UNRWA? That's a moral question. As you know lots of people will die if you stop. But if you keep funding it, the independence on money stays. And you bet, a lot of money of UNRWA was used to build the tunnels underneath the hospitals and houses and a lot was used for buying weapons.
So yes, It is time to re-eventuate the support to UNRWA

Anyone who is surprised at the corrupt UN actions shouldn't be.

Israel has over a thousand people slaughtered in the most horrific ways.  Over 200 taken hostage and treated in the most horrific ways.

The IDF does what a country's military should do is such cases, it went to war.

How does the corrupt UN handle this situation?

They accuse Israel of Genocide.  Someone needs to explain the definition of Genocide to those at the UN.

"South Africa alleges that "acts and omissions" committed by Israel as part of its offensive in Gaza "are genocidal in character because they are intended to bring about the destruction of a substantial part of the Palestinian national, racial and ethnical group."

Of all the countries to make such an accusation...South Africa?

"First, the court said Israel must "take all measures within its power to prevent the commission of all acts within the scope of Article II of the (Genocide) convention" and "ensure with immediate effect that its military does not commit any acts described" in the above measure. It said Israel must do everything it can to ensure the preservation of evidence related to allegations of genocide."

These fools at the the United Nations' International Court of Justice are doing some really good drugs.

    Can't take these people serious.

The U.N is useless; they are, they have been, they will continue to be.
The U.S. should have cut all ties long ago.

I strongly share the sentiment that the UN has lost the respect of many long ago. It's concerning that the U.S. predominantly funds its operations in New York. It's high time for them to be reconsidered, given their apparent disregard for our values and prolonged exploitation of our nation.
