I'm no expert but I think it was very good. An excellent bow out while inspiring hope in those that supported her.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ASIeYMfh14
It was an inspiring speech, her words were uplifting for her supporters. I think she has taken the high road, and give her great credit for being gracious.
It was a great way to start the mending and readying for the next chapter four years from now...
Its really what the country needs... accept the election results, move on, and plan for 2028... come out with someone that you aren't dragging out of the basement and doesn't belong being the front person of your party.
They need to clean out the Clintons, Bidens, and all the old cronies that are stuck in a bygone era holding grudges... like Waters, Pelosi and the like.
The country needs new blood... not a cabal of 80 year olds clinging to power.
I hope they move in a new direction... they had the chance... with Tulsi Gabbard, RFK Jr. and others... instead they forced them out of the party... giving us Biden... and then at the last minute Harris, who was not able to develop a real rapport with Americans...
It is possible she could have, her appearance on SNL and this concession speech shows a side of her that is more relatable... and believable.
But the country didn't get to see that in time for it to stick with enough Americans.
There is also the very real aspect that they attacked Trump so much, using such dirty tactics, that it backfired on them... it got more people to support Trump than it did turn people away from him.
"The country needs new blood... not a cabal of 80 year olds clinging to power."
Agreed.
I agree with you. Trump is a solid starting point for mending the country and preparing for the future. More Americans are waking up to how off track we've gone, and it’s obvious that leadership needs to change. I don't think the "old guard" will have much of a voice after what we've witnessed from Biden. The country needs to start demanding better representatives, like Tulsi Gabbard or RFK Jr. This election has shown us one clear thing: we can trust the majority of Americans to see through to common sense.
Do you feel positive about someone like RFK Jr being in charge of health? I mean considering his penchant for conspiracy theory.
And this is the kind of person you passed on.
This is how America has always worked in the past until
2016, which was a fluke . .. . and still God sent us a Pandemic.
This time, it is on purpose . . .
You have to pass on her if you are sane...
The people behind her gave us WWIII...
Gave us 25% inflation...
Gave us over 10 million migrants dumped into unsuspecting towns...
Gave us men competing against women in sports...
Gave us child mutilation and tried to make it so parents couldn't protect their children from people who would prey on them to make such choices.
I could go on...
Trump never gave us any of that during his 4 years... if not for the Pandemic it would have been the best 4 year run America had since the early 00s... and you could argue the late 80s...
Who was on her team?
On Trump's team we had Elon Musk, Tulsi Gabbard, RFK Jr., etc.
It may not matter... the Biden Administration still has a couple months to make the wars we are involved in MUCH worse than they already are... we will be lucky to get to a change of leadership and de-escalation of the wars spreading across multiple continents.
I passed on her for many reasons. That is water under the bridge. Democracy has won the day. I would not feel I could question the great majority. He won by popular vote of over 7 million. Some in 2016 felt the popular vote was very important.
Gracious? I don't know about that. It was adequate.
My first thought, only seconds in, was that she had better be careful. When Trump used that terrible word (Fight!) he was accused of planning, instigating and aiding an insurrection in an attempt to overthrow the United States. Will they find twenty different things to charge Harris with (she must have uttered that terrible blasphemy 20 times)? Stay tuned...
The second thing that caught my attention was a complete and total lack of any semblance of "work together". She won't do it, her team won't do it and she doesn't want any Democrat to do it. Instead they are to roll up their sleeves and "Fight!". Do not compromise, do not work to find a common solution, do not attempt to heal the rift in the country. Just "Fight!" to get what is desired, has been desired and will be desired until they get it.
So, for me, it was both hypocritical and sad. Just more of the same, that Democrats really began piling on in 2017.
"On the one hand ... and on the other hand."
That's all it was:
same 'ol, same 'ol.
... and the crowd cried.
Its a step in the right direction... toward civility...
And letting it go until the next election... I gotta give it a big +++
I did not see anything about letting anything go for 4 years. Instead what I heard was "Fight to make the changes you want, and do it NOW!"
I did see that you pointed out. I pretty much felt she was making every attempt to let her supporters down in an easy fashion. I hope the change of power goes smoothly. Biden gave a nice speech this morning. He was unifying, and gracious, and yet gave his supporters hope to further their goals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fU-A4gO4G4
if I can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
Okay.
But we did find out
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nUGmo71SfE
So what is wrong with that, she didn’t break the law. It goes without saying that the fight goes on.
Did not your side “keep on fighting” during the Biden Administration? Why should we now fold up like lawn chairs? No chance.
Of course she didn't break the law. Neither did she make any attempt to heal the massive divide we have, nor did she indicate any attempt to do so in the future.
Just more of the same. "Never say quit, never accept less than the full amount wanted, never compromise, never work with the enemy for the good of the country." That's the message she gave - while you may cheer and think it great I find it pitiful that someone that full of hate and disregard for our needs almost became President.
In this current political climate, that divide is not going away, Wilderness. So, the Right will not be allowed to rest on it laurels.
The “never say quit” attitude comes from either side, so just don’t blame Harris as if she invented it.
I don’t recall Donald Trump making any gracious concession speech once he lost in 2020, so why the double standard?
I think it great that you watch every move and work to hold the Trump Administration accountable...
Not the same as going out and stirring up violence and riots... as someone like AOC suggests...
But if that is the course that is taken... it will cost your side much in the way of support and empathy.
I think it great that you watch every move and work to hold the Trump Administration accountable...
And you can bet that I will continue to do that throughout his term of office.
——
Where is the link in regards to AOC, would you provide it please and don’t give me Fox or brietbart?
the resulting strife that comes with his election will not leave the President elect smelling like a rose but leave him with an ineffectual image. A great way to start. You can count on that as well.
How about a commentary on it?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCXkN7XQPHU
That's what you're pretending is a call to violence?
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity... AOC puts herself right there.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5-pSg1TL6M
Hey, as all know I am a woman of few words! LOL But get ready--- and they wonder why they lost.... Again LOL
It IS fascinating to watch, isn't it. The people spoke, loud and clear, and immigration was one of the biggest concerns. The people want it fixed, and do not want the Democrat's "fix".
So Democrats insist that they will not aid in the "fix" the people chose...while crying that they should not have lost, that their way is the RIGHT way, that Trump's policies are so bad.
Seems to me that the Democrat party may well be shooting themselves, not in the foot but square in the forehead.
Obama/Bidens third term shot them smack in the forehead. I imagine Obama is licking his wounds he will have no fourth term with Harris as his puppet. Oh chucks. Americans like America, not some drummed-up version of Sweden/China. They just could not convince citizens that they could do with lots less, due to the need to support migrants. I wonder if Dems learned Americans like the option of the American dream --- working to thrive, not working for migrants to thrive.
What impact would Mass deportation have on our economy?
Maybe you can leave that worry to the new administration. One thing I think you should have picked up Trump is all about the economy. Maybe sit back and wait and see--- always time to bitch, if given the opportunity. You seem to dwell on "if comes"... That is something I don't ascribe to. I am fully on board with Trump's plans to deport illegal migrants. I trust his judgment in regards to keeping any that are needed a to fill jobs we have avenews for workers. He has promised to deport millions. I exspect him to keep his promise.
Oh yes a wait and see approach. It's interesting that during Biden's administration we were inundated with facts, figures and experts from all over the place to assail anything and everything he proposed. But now just a wait and see attitude is good enough...lol .
There is plenty of evidence to support the idea that the economy will suffer and inflation rise dramatically under Mass deportation policies.
As Sharlee suggested, let's wait and see, and then revisit this conversation a little further down the road.
I find it very odd to say the least that anything and everything Biden proposed was met by voluminous amounts of research (often questionable) on this forum... But now, I am encouraged to ignore that approach in favor of a simple "wait and see" stance with something as important as our nation's economy. I flatly reject that.
So much inconsistency with Trump followers after the election. The scrutiny/ methodology applied to Biden's administration is no longer embraced. Odd indeed.
Or folks ruminate on something that may never happen! No one is asking anything of you. You seem to be putting some importance on your view, placing it above others views. I mean check your comments so many Is.
I'm presenting my view like everyone else does here. I think it would be your assumption that I'm placing it above others. Maybe you could point out where I have said my view is above others? If I disagree with what someone has posted on this forum, I will generally respond with some research I've done. I sort of thought that's what forums are all about
Yikes -- ypur not making sense -- " It's interesting that during Biden's administration we were inundated with facts, figures and experts from all over the place to assail anything and everything he proposed."
Note the words you penned "Biden adminstration". Your sharing what ifs, it comes... Trump has not been sworn in. Again I have pointed out that economist have predicted many economic plans of candidates completely wrong. As so many did Bidens plan.
It is a wait and see. No one has any idea what will come regarding the economy. like I said you seem to live in borrowing on if comes. You ruminate on what economist have shared, and seem to repeat your thoughts over and over. Again many have also predicted Trump's plan is a good one. And their view is no better than the ones you feel hold merit.
No I'm talking about policy. I'm talking about policy and promises that Trump has made crystal clear are a part of his agenda. Proposed Biden policy or Harris policy, again was met with voluminous amounts of research from Trump followers. I cannot apply the same to his agenda that he has put forward in a very clear manner? I should just wait and see what happens?
I find very little, if nothing in the way of credible research that supports a positive impact in terms of the economy in relation to his mass deportation and tariff plans.
Need I pull up posts from this forum to further elucidate the reactions to any and all Biden/ Harris plans?
Willow, what policy? All I have heard is that "Trump will fix it".
You already told us that any economist worth their salt has said that the Trump plan would have adverse effects on the economy.
I don't recall Trump having any coherent plan. Even though it has been proven by people in a position to know that Harris' plan would be advantageous for the economy, people voted otherwise. So, obviously, an improved economy projected under Harris had no effect. This "better 'economy' thing under Trump is just another ruse and excuse. The man did absolutely nothing but skate after Obama's heavy lifting from 2008, and when he did run into a crisis, COVID, he proved totally inadequate to the task.
As for policy, "Trump can fix it" was the extent of it.
I agree. For me, two of his most troubling promises are mass deportation and reckless tariffs. He seems hell bent on seeing these through. In concert, these two will have devastating costs to america, it's budget and economy.
We having abundance of research from experts that have weighed in on these impacts but his followers would rather set that aside for a "wait and see" approach. It baffles me. It's troubling that Trumpism generally encourages it's followers turn away from experts, from science. You know, the kind of thinking that says my plumbers opinion on my diabetes management maybe just as good if not better than a doctors.
I don't know, research tells me that smoking causes cancer. I don't need to wait and see what will happen if I choose to smoke my whole life.
You are correct, In his first term we were not able to fully see his impact. He is currently being, once again, handed an economy that is trending in the right direction. If he or those around him have any sense at all, they will pull back on these promises made to the base that will surely tank the economy. Will they do what's best for the country? I intend to closely monitor the movement of major metrics the day he takes office.
I might offer a conspiracy theory of my own.
Trump will run the economy into the ground. Inspite of the fact that there is a republican congress, he would blame the Democrats. He is not known to take any responsibility for any screw up for which he is the cause.
After he destroys what had been working well, Trump and his billionaire friends will pick up the pieces and shape economic policy in a way where they get everything they want , exploiting labor for example. Ask Elizabeth Warren how much more that they plan to water down the Consumer Finance Protection Board, her brainchild.
These billionaires and that includes Musk and Bezos, Bozos cowardly backed out of an Washington Post presidential endorsement for the first time for the paper that he owns. As I believe he saw the writing on the wall and wanted to be in good with the King. Their motto has been that "Democracy dies in the darkness" and it has. Once the man on the street has had all his legal recourse taken from him against the mere caprice of the wealthy and powerful what remains to stop the oligarchs from taking over?
I will be taking a magnifying glass to everything Trump says and does henceforth.
Trump is being watched even harder by his supporters...
We watched him be attacked, and attacked, and dragged through the courts, and be shot at...
We watched as he stood in defiance against it all...
When they threatened to take all his wealth and possessions...
When they tried to take his life...
He stood back up.
He fought.
But his job is to fight for us... the Citizens of America.
We are watching... his time comes to an end the moment he betrays that.
Imagine you and I both wanting to see Trump removed at all costs.
You think anyone could survive being the focus of ire from all the political spectrums at once?
"After he destroys what had been working well"
Just what was "working well"? Immigration policy continues to provide for massive invasion. Inflation continues to be higher than wage increases. Government continues to lie wholesale to us about inflation. WWIII is building on the weapons we provide. Again in spite of government statements crime is climbing. Taxes will climb if Harris gets in - she has made that crystal clear.
So just what is working well? Growth of government, and it's regulations? Falling standard of living? More and more people on welfare? Cities begging the feds for money to support the illegal aliens foisted on them? Women losing the right to murder their children? Universities sued for racial discrimination, and LOSING? An ever larger divide in our country?
What do you see going well? Is anything here positive in your opinion?
You do understand that Trump will enter office with the same exact immigration policy and laws? And can you remind me what Trump's plan is to reduce inflation?
Of course he will. We are hoping he does something Biden/Harris did not; change those policies and laws.
I have no idea what Trump's inflation plan is. Do you?
Interestingly I just received the latest Imprimis "magazine" In it was a section on inflation, where it pointed out that the biggest cause of inflation is government "printing" money. Growth of the money supply.
It also pointed out that in the first 95 years of the Reserve's existence government produced 40% of our money supply. In the last 16 years it has tripled that amount. Sixteen years; Obama's reign, Trump's and Biden's.
Will we have more of the same, or will our economy take off and produce some real tax receipts without simply taking more and more from a select few? Will Trump back off some of his grandiose plans, something Biden did not do, or will he continue the spending frenzy Biden accelerated so effectively?
"I have no idea what Trump's inflation plan is. Do you?"
How do you vote for someone and not know what their plans are? Or if they have any plans at all? Are you saying you voted for someone with no plans? No agenda? People have been wailing about grocery prices and elect someone who doesn't really offer you any relief? Why? You won't be disappointed if he doesn't reduce your grocery prices? But Biden was nailed to the wall for those prices?
He made promises to engage in mass deportations of millions of people who are working in this country currently, making it run. Doing the jobs we don't have people to do. You think he won't follow through on this? Wouldn't that be disappointing to all of those who are waiting for it?
Grandiose plans? He stated "promises made promises kept" you sort of give the impression that you hope he backs off of mass deportation and tariffs? Grandiose plans or lies?
How did you vote for Harris and not know her plans? What she SAID were her plans, after all, require Congress and usually wouldn't work anyway. In any case, doing nothing whatsoever would be far superior to Harris's Marxism.
Trump will not reduce grocery prices. Most people acknowledge that government cannot set prices and have anything good come from it, although quite a few liberals DO propose just that.
What Trump CAN do is produce an economy in which grocery prices fall relative to income. Again, something liberals do not seem to understand...unless government sets both prices and wages.
What is the time span Trump gave to deport all 20 or 30 million illegals? Is it different now that Arizona passed a state law letting the state do it for those in Arizona? Will other states join in? I see NY will no longer provide debit cards for illegals; I suspect we will see far more help enforcing our laws without Biden's administration on the scene. I rather suspect that people like Maura Healey (mass.) will be out of a job if they don't cooperate on halting illegal immigration; their people want it just as bad as the rest of the country.
Oh so you'll take status quo, continue living with the things that all of you have railed about for 4 years as long as Harris isn't in office? The maga crowd has complained about their grocery bill incessantly, told us about how much the nation is hurting with these costs and now you say "never mind? ". Oh no, it's not going to be that easy. What you held Biden accountable for, Trump will be accountable for.
Trump made quite a few promises for day one, now you're saying those don't matter at all? Why is this sounding like his followers are getting a little nervous about operation wet back 2.0?
I expected Harris to make things much worse than they already are, not to maintain status quo. On the other hand I expect Trump to make things much BETTER - is that insufficient reason to vote for him?
No, supporters are not nervous. Just realistic - nothing whatsoever can be accomplished the first day. It's rather sad that you don't recognize that, but realistically he won't even be President until late in the day, leaving an hour or two before government shuts down for the day. Some of us live in the real world, some don't.
"I expect Trump to make things much BETTER - is that insufficient reason to vote for him?"
What has he stated though, in terms of a specific plan to address the costs quickly? I mean sure, I may have reason to believe someone would bring down costs of groceries but only if they gave me some details. What are you basing your belief on? When he takes office, what will he do to bring down the cost of my groceries?
It's also okay to simply say, that "he has no plan and that's okay by me" "I've been complaining about grocery prices for the last several years but now it doesn't matter anymore"
~ do you know what brings forth a percolating Economy?
Do you know the advantages of less regulations, lower taxes and lower inflation?
Do you know what brings down inflation?
Do you know what causes inflation?
Do you know what caused our inflation?
If you research the answers to these questions, you will understand why the majority voted for Trump.
If you study the Reagan years, you will find the answers.
Here is a link. I post it only to show how complicated the issue is.
https://www.bls.gov/opub/mlr/1982/04/art1full.pdf
I'm not really looking for history, I'm asking folks to address and discuss specifics of Trump's promises and agenda.
I put forth a very simple and direct question.
How does the Trump plan address the high cost of groceries that so many are complaining about. ?
If you prefer not to address the question, please ignore the post.
I have addressed the question. If you refuse to take the answers, don't post.
FINIS
Did I miss the part about what trump, specifically, is planning to enact as a way to lower food costs?
This has nothing to do with Ronald Reagan
Hey, hop on the "what if" train... You know, this is exactly why so many lost confidence in your party. They completely pushed the "what-ifs" and used left-wing media to push all the what-ifs.... Maybe it’s time to learn from the losses. The Democratic party ended up creating a merry band of overthinkers, that spent their time and energy ruminating on fluff and puff.
Well, Sharlee, he had better deliver as I am watching him like a hawk and will be all over him like a cheap suit if he screws up.
Cred, I think you know I will be watching him just as closely. This is what we should do. But you know, I will be watching deeds, I don't care about the back-and-forth words. Hey, I voted for his agenda, and I am on board with everything last thing he promoted. So, you can bet, I will be keeping score right with you.
Which actions, that he has promised on day one, are you most wanting to see? The tariffs or the mess deportation?
The "what if "train? You mean the one that maga has been riding for the last 4 years? The same scrutiny in which Trump followers regularly applied to Biden, will now necessarily be applied to Trump. I think you'll likely hear a lot of the same exact rhetoric that folks on this forum have used during that time. Maybe some will think it is unfair or unfounded but hopefully many will remember when they used the same logic and arguments against Biden.
You're outwardly baiting. Not about to get pulled in.
Wages would improve... more Americans would have jobs.
Corporations would lose out on profits... boo hoo...
A family takes care of its own before it takes care of others...
The Democrats abandoned the Working Class... labeled them deplorables and garbage... racist and sexist...
Doubling down on that rhetoric and hysterics will not gain them any new support... that is why they are focused on the schools and children... that is why sex fluidity and 'reality is what you choose it to be' is focused on them... so that in another 20 years you have a bunch of useless, self centered Americans that cannot work or think for themselves.
Do you have any evidence to back up the idea that wages will improve under a mass deportation scenario?
Here’s one data point: The deportation of 454,000 individuals not authorized to be in the US from 2008 to 2015 reduced the hourly wages of US-born workers by 0.6%.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newslett … or-economy
Well, when the finish crew (100% illegals) vacated the premises (ICE showed up) they had to be replaced with union workers.
I heard later the company went broke because of the increase in pay. Pretty typical, I'd say - very, very few business's will pay illegals what they will pay legal employees.
It will increase GDP per capita. Yes, one could look at total GDP, but who cares? It's MY pocketbook that matters to me, not that of an illegal alien violating our laws and requiring our support just to survive.
America needs to get OUT of the UN Global Compact on Migration...
America needs to get OUT of the UN Agenda 2030 efforts...
America needs to put AMERICAN interests first in ANY International agreement or trade agreement it is part of... period.
If it doesn't favor America... get out of it... before the damage is irreversible.
I've yet to find any expert who believes the GDP will increase with mass deportation.
"Due to the loss of workers across U.S. industries, we found that mass deportation would reduce the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) by 4.2 to 6.8 percent. It would also result in significant reduction in tax revenues for the U.S. government. In 2022 alone, undocumented immigrant households paid $46.8 billion in federal taxes and $29.3 billion in state and local taxes. Undocumented immigrants also contributed $22.6 billion to Social Security and $5.7 billion to Medicare.".
If folks don't like the following reference, I can gladly list at least 25 more.
https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil. … tion-plans
You need to read better. Two little words that you seem to have skipped right over.
"In addition to growing the size of the national economy, increasing immigration would also raise the standard of living for Americans by boosting GDP per capita.."
If you don't like the following a reference, I can give you at least 20 more
https://www.fwd.us/news/immigration-and-gdp-growth/
Willow knows this but refuses to accept the reality of the situation.
I've provided support for my view. I'll ask you to not infer anything about my acceptance of reality or what "I know".
If you DON'T know & can't deduct, well shame on you.
Sharlee, THEY can't let go at all. KamaLIE lost. Move on. We had to TOLERATE BIDDY BIDEN & KAMALIE for 4 years. However, THEY are so unaccepting of Trump as President. Talk about juvenile, Sharlee. It is time that THEY GROW UP. Don't you think?
I think most of us are trying to talk policy here.
I have no problem with anyone bitching about factual events. But it is unintelligent to constantly complain about what if this happens. It just is getting old, and it's been two days.
"Not the same as going out and stirring up violence and riots... as someone like AOC suggests..."
Any quote on this?
I definitely heard that from AOC and MSNBC...
The threats of violence are now clearly emanating from the Progressive Left.
If they continue to push in this direction, doubling down, again, they will move further into the minority... with less support from Middle America than they have now.
I fully expect to see that. When wrong, double down and make it worse - that seems to be the SOP from the left.
The fact is, we who voted for DJT trust him due to his past policies and actions in office. Let's leave it at that for now and wait. He's not even in office yet.
I really would give it a rest.
Let's not get all worked up over absolutely nothing.
... like a Chicken Little.
Furthermore, Trump is not a magician or a sorcerer.
Maybe some people want lightening speed results. They are probably the ones who spend many an hour playing stimulating computer games where actions are instantaneous and controllable.
They really should get out and ride a bike to some destination or climb some mountains. Things in real life take time and effort. One must roll with reality. Its not instantaneous and its not predictable.
The real issue is the fact that Kamala is Marxist in her policies. Trump is not. In my mind, the difference in their political ideologies is the only topic worth discussing right now. Socialism is very attractive. However, exploring why it doesn't work would be interesting and educational.
