The liar in chief does it again deciding to keep Gitmo open! Worse, he plans on keeping some detainees there indefinitely... even if they are aquitted of any crimes!!! Worse still he wont even tell those he plans to keep! ! Obama has no respect or requard for the constitution! I wonderwill the left ask for him to be tried for war crimes???

Maybe if he starts actually torturing inmates rather than merely following Bush's successful program there he could pick up the sadist constituency in 2012.
At least they have universal health care at Gitmo. Lady, get over yourself.
Wait, where are our liberal friends denouncing this betrayal of trust by The Community Organizer?
Oh, wait, since Obama is doing it, I guess that makes everything okay now.....and here I was foolishly hoping for Lovemychris to come along and make a wealth envy rant out of the whole thing....my day is shot....
I'll fill in if you like!
But Bush wants to tell me what to do with my body!
Michelle Bachmann took 250k in subsidies!
Republicans hate the poor!
The rich are evil!
Did I forget anything?
Oh yeah... the Tea Party is racist!
Those things are all true.Except the first...I don't really think Bushbo cares about abortion.
He only pretends, to placate the base. Same as Delay did and Pence does.
And I never called rich people evil. Evil is your word-du-jour.Inhumane and heartless, yes.
hip hip hip hip hip-o-crits.
The betrayal of trust was broken long ago. The harsh reality of gvt is the Republican Police-State Party.
Just out of curiosity, what would you do with the people who are being held at Gitmo?
Can't waterboard 'em
Can't just open the doors and say "fly away home little birdies"
So what exactly should Obama do?
Why don't you tell me? It was you libs all over Bush for establishing these policies... it was Obama that campaigned on restoring American justice who criticised Bush... but even Bush, Hitler and Stalin never took sole power to declare someone a prisoner for life after aquittal in their justice system. Yet the voices of liberty on the left are silent!

Ah well, the piker knew it would be hard. I guess he hoped the skies would open and the birds would sing and he could quietly rendition the inmates to Egypt.
I don't consider the Gitmo thing a 'broken promise' as much as a woefully inexperienced, unprepared community organizer being slapped in the face by reality. I imagine obama sucked down many a cig reflecting on that harsh truth.
Well said, Short Story. Bitter reality is so unfair. I wonder if the progressives have a plan to destroy it?
Anything unfair must be regulated and paid reparations.
ShortStory: You said that because you know it's true, and impossible.
Short Story: .The only issue of reparation recently discussed and denied affects african americans. Am I wrong about your reference?
That's no answer, c'mon man you are bigger than that.
Don't try to shame me into a narrow answer. Please elaborate on what you mean.
I'm not trying to shame you into a narrow answer. You made the comment. I just ask were you using a code rather than the words african american. It's no crime to use code words it's done all the time. I know ain't no shame in your game.
I do agree with your comment. Obama is only interested in one things: getting power and keeping it. He carefully watches those that support him, what he has to promise them and thinks about what he needs to do to destroy those that oppose him. He be one typical, corrupt Chicago politician who is out of his element.
"... and I have promises to keep. And miles to go before I sleep..."
I don't disagree with you, AnnCee and ShortStory (tell me, is it some kind of "insiders' code" to close up the space in your names?)
Gitmo is a can of worms.
There are many, many more pressing issues that need to be addressed by this administration before we figure out what to do about illegal detainees.
Maybe the UN can figure it out....
Nothing arcane about it, MightyMom, I think it's an old forum habit. Not all forums allow a two word username.
Man caused disaster actions are hell.

"Language contained in the 2011 National Defense Authorization Act passed by the House and Senate on Wednesday bars the use of Pentagon funds to transfer any Guantanamo prisoner to the U.S. for any reason, including a trial. Some supporters of plan Obama announced on his first full day in office to close the prison said the passage of the legislation signals nearly complete capitulation by the president."

His hands are tied....if he closes it on how own over the votes of Congress, how will that be received?
It's the political reality that sucks, not the real reality.
Obama is not actually all powerful. He has to go through Congress, which is packed with Republicans who want to keep it open.
Uh yeah... right... well why didn't he close it while he had a super majority in congress? Oh maybe because he was too busy sitting back while that congress shoved health care down our throats?
You notice "Obamacare" didn't get passed, so his majority wasn't actually as "super" as you think.
