I think we should have a new policy on gun-ownership.
I think that before someone wants to buy a gun, they should have to watch a video depicting what really happens when someone gets shot.
Show the graphic details of what happens to a person who is hit with a bullet.
Blood and guts, gore and pain.
That way, maybe more people can be persuaded not to buy a gun.

I have a better idea....that they be over 21 and have the ability to pay for it.

Sorry, but I keep coming back to that whole pesky Second Amendment thing......

..as you interpret it, which is vastly different than interpretations given by legal scholars including the ones sitting on the supreme court who in 2008 declared your version to be a bunch of nonsense.

Which explains why all of us still own guns, I guess, right?

Second Amendment is still the law of the land, my friend....

              Why are you so angry?

              It's not good for you.

I just bought a Beretta 9mm the other day in less than 30 minutes.

Got 3 extra magazines with it.

I don't know why I even bother to respond to Ron anymore, his post making light of the tragedy in Japan demonstrates that there isn't much there worth debating....

You can keep trying to convince yourself that I was making light of the victims, but that won't make it so.

You don't answer me because facts are not on your side.  If you want to debate the 2nd intelligently, you should at the very least be familiar with District of Columbia v. Heller.

                  ...if you want.

Will the video also show how killing the right person at the right time can save the lives of countless other people that this person was about to kill?

Also, how do you think sadists will feel about watching a video like the one you propose forcing on everyone? Do you think they might enjoy the show? Last time I heard, the liberals were pushing the line that graphic violence on TV promotes violent behavior.

You don't really expect a liberal to believe what they want to force on others do you.

Mooshell Obama pushing fruit while she stuffs her face with sausage.

The community organizer telling us all we must sacrifice while he spends, spends and then spends some more.

Like I said before, listen to what they say and do the exact opposite.

        You wont be wrong.

    Equality under the Law?

First off, Equality isn't Equal Rights.
Secondly, Equality is a reference made with regards to America's "way of life"- It is each person's equal ability and opportunity to obtain the same status as those who are the wealthiest.
Thirdly, the Law isn't applied Equally.

As for your suggestion of a video, it should be part of the Educational foundation of Gun Ownership. However, people see the stuff presented as you want in movies all the time. You rarely see any videos of real people killing real people with guns.

I would like to show a video(if your stomach cannot handle it, then do not click on the link). It's actually a music video, which depicts a man who decided that he wasn't going to take "NO" for an answer and attempts to take what he wants. He ends up being shot in the head.

The song is by Tatu- it's called "All About Us". Again, if you don't have the stomach for it, then do not watch the video....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Qjx8IXkgjE

If you want to see the destruction a gun can have, you shall. Watch the entire video. Good song. smile

They should not have to watch a video.. that's just silly.

They should have to get shot... nothing serious mind you, just on the foot or buttocks.

That would bring home to new owners the power of the weapon they possess... as well as slow them down a bit in case they purchased their firearm in order to go on a rampage

I'm with you, Misha...I thought the thread was going to be a serious discussion on equality under the law, but instead find liberals pontificating about their abhorrence of the 2nd amendment...
The only " equality " under the law is equal opportunity, not equal outcomes...Harrison Bergeron notwithstanding...

    It's this:

"Currently, several states have laws that require abortion providers to offer women the opportunity to view an ultrasound image of their baby before getting an abortion, according to the Guttmacher Institute. And two years ago, Republicans introduced a bill in Congress that would require abortion providers to perform an ultrasound and allow a woman to see the image before getting the procedure. Although the bill hasn’t gotten very far, it is a step in the right direction to finding a solution to the abortion issue."

    http://www.csmonitor.com/Commentary/Opi … -procedure

The article makes is seem like a good, decent idea, but I don't know.....it's already an anguishing experience as it is.
And why don't potential gun-owners have to see something like that? See what really happens when you shoot a person? Because I know there are repercussions for that too. Just ask a soldier.
Seems to me that we treat one group of individuals much different than the other....and they both are dealing with the same issues, IMO.
