Why would any woman marry a convicted and imprisoned murderer?

What is it that compels some women to seek correspondence and eventually marry murderers who are behind bars? Desperation? Lack of self-esteem? Insanity? Stupidity? Convenience?

The first things that come to mind, for me, are loneliness and possibly low self-esteem, or some other condition or circumstance that would make having a relationship with someone with whom one could not live (just to name one hurdle or problem with such an arrangement!), a viable option. Perhaps sometimes people identify with people who are in prison, have been convicted of crimes, because they feel there's something wrong with them, too, or they feel they've been misunderstood in their lives, or wronged by others.  It does seem an extreme, disturbing, possibly dangerous thing to do, but I think it's also important to remember that each person's situation is different, and people are wrongly convicted.

I wish I could tell you WHY, but I know that it happens all the time. Maybe they like the fact that this person is going to be dedicated to them. As they have NO other options.

Life lessons learned by little girls watching "Beauty and the Beast." Sure, he's abusive and ill-tempered, but you can fix him. Women want a project and also seem to be drawn to men that love them less than they love the man. Maybe it's the sense of danger, the bad boy attraction, daddy issues or sheer stupidity. I'm all in favor of social Darwinism. If you are dumb enough to date a violent offender, I won't shed a tear when you end up in a garbage bag; that's just nature's way of cleaning house and disinfecting the gene pool.
