   This is not just for religion, but everything--way of lift, political party etc

   Yes, absolutely. Everyone is wrong some of the time. Some are wrong most of the time. A refusal to change one's position on an issue when he finds a better one is foolish.
   
   That being said, all of us do, and should, require good reasons for it. Not only is it human nature to stay with what we believe to be true until convinced otherwise, which is to say stasis is our default state, we encounter so much false argument intended to cover hidden agendae that we're right to be skeptical.

   it depends on who thinks it is a better way because don't forget, many things are a matter of opinion. if it made sense and was something that would help my country, my family then i would gladly change.

   I am strong in my religious beliefs and will not alter them. I will change my beliefs about most other matters if the evidence is there to support change. It is the wisest thing to do in most circumstances and comes quite often with experience in life's adversity and triumphs.

      As do I Whonunuwho, as do I. Good answer. Someone is trying to get me to change my knowledge about God and I say it is knowledge not a belief. Now, a political party, that's different. You can add to my know of God, but not change it. It is knowledge

      I'd say that beliefs about God and religion are beliefs, as opposed to knowledge. That's why it's faith- because we believe without concrete "proof"
      My religious beliefs have changed somewhat along the years, but the core beliefs hang strong.

   It would have to be something that I felt was better, not just the other person...
   
   My faith has changed over the years, but it's mainly in growing and becoming more evolved. The core beliefs have remained the same...

   I hope I'll change in the light of convincing, reasonable proof.  Problem is, if we are determined not to change, it is possible to blind ourselves to that proof.

   I would like to say yes. The problem is that I am a human being whose brain is naturally programmed to find order in the world and to filter out information that is inconsistent with my deeply held beliefs. So I tend to do what I often criticize in others: try to win arguments instead of seeking truth with humility.
   
   I have managed, however, over the years to change my thinking on some very fundamental issues in what is hopefully a positive direction. So I may be more open to change than I think, although these changes seem to happen in little baby steps and not in sudden moments of insight.

      This has been my lot and also my desire with God. I try to pray sincerely to find the truth. There are somethings that we both know that we no longer need to pray about. We know there is a God, so we do not need to constantly ask God if he exists.

      Rod, I think it's possible for our religious beliefs to evolve and grow to keep pace with who we are. God gives us what we need in stages, as we become ready for the next step in faith.

   It depends on what it is all about. Certain things can be changed if it is logical. Sometimes, when others have the reasoning for better ways, it might also be possible to integrate into your own belief. This might enhance or re-enforce your belief to be stronger.
   
   Our own beliefs may not be total right or wrong. Therefore if someone can point out something that is logical, it allows us to consider our beliefs as it can be complementary.

   To me, the important word you wrote is "show".  i.e. not "tell".  I cannot stand being preached at.  To really change your beliefs you have to experience something for yourself.  Just because you believe something does not mean everyone else should believe it just because you tell them to.

    If some on show me a better way, then I am going to change my ways.  I am the one to determine if the way a person is showing me is better or not and if I could clearly see that it is a better way then I would thank them and adjust accordingly.

    I would say that sometimes it just clicks where I have been fighting with a belief for a long time.
    I have not been raised in religion, but when I started being exposed to spirituality through meditation, it made sense to go there and I changed my statements about not caring that much about what was beyond humanity.
    If you're not ready, it might take a really long way but I do think we are striving to be happy and that eventually we will go through whatever we have to go through to not die miserable.
    I guess I am being optimistic :p

    I try to always be open to other points of view, I will listen, learn, and then I will decide if I still believe what I did before or not.. I have changed my views on things before when someone gave me a different way to look at it, but there are also things that no one has been able to change what I believe aboutit, though I am still open to hearing other perspectives. People who will not at least hear out other people and think about what they are saying, not argue about it, will not learn very easily in my opinion. How can you ever improve if you think you have all the answers?
