If the existence of aliens become common knowledge would you question your faith?
I've heard a common trend putting humankind in the center of all religions, so if man were to find out there were indeed little green men, do you think you may question the authenticity of your creator?
Only if the aliens presented proof that they created us, or if the aliens did not have something equivalent to Christianity in their religion (like in the movie Enemy Mine).
Rational answer, after peering in your summary and seeing "truth in paradoxes" it has been brought to mind that you might be interested in my hub. The trailer for that was pretty funny, and i like the idea... downloading.
I believe that if the existence of extraterrestrials was a proven fact and accepted by the majority of the human race, after a closer examination of the facts and considering that we believe in a one Creator, there would be no difference in what people believe in truth. Because alien life forms, as well as the entire Universe as we know it, was of our God. Those who use their intellects and brain power, will understand that we are all related and that no matter whether one life form influences another, we are still part of the universal cycle of life and products of a benevolent God. All was formed from the particles of the cosmos, even our own Creator had a beginning. Because human minds are attuned to the reasoning that we all begin and end and there seems to be nothing left, The Universe, itself, serves as a great example that we don't know how to accept the proposition that there is no true end and all keeps on living and expanding to be far greater. It is "the nature of the beast". that is our hang up, and our brains still need further development. Yes, I would still believe in the one God and keep a strong faith.
Alright, what if they flat out refuted the concept of god, and in fact took the side of atheists? Bare in mind, intergalactic travel is quite the feet.
I would regard it as one more source of Atheism and as others would continue to do, worship our God and Creator of all the Universe and what is in it. There is God, no matter who refutes the "notion" and how intelligent they are seen as being.
In life, there are many different forms of living things. I do not question it. I do believe that each of us are made in our own forms.
I believe my objective is to be searching for the way of enlightenment. That will be my final end to living as human being and be in spiritual form.
Given the fact that I'm Jedi, proved existence of extra-terestials wouldn't make me question anything. I would just be assured that the will of Force made it happen
If I wouldn't be deemed as "one who does not take things seriously" I would definitely select this for "Best Answer"
I dont think it would because nothing in the bible says anything about life on other planets, if they all had completely different religions to us here or non at all then it would make me think
A strong sense of faith + open mindedness, i like it.
I don't think so and it depends on the faith. It's pretty good question but I don't think that they'll ever found ''little green'', but that's just my opinion.
There are so many different alien species, it isn't even funny. I detest that "little green men" stuff, since some of them only glow green (while not actually being green) and the real green ones are actually big, reptilian aliens; ha!
if they refuted all faiths?/ concept of a god?
Considering how many religions are here on Earth, I don't see how proof or an arrival of an alien could disturb anybodies faith. Personally I believe aliens have visited in the past, and will continue to visit in the future. As messed up as earth is we could be an interstellar museum on what not to do in a culture.
Short and sweet, yes I agree, in the short run at least. Yah evidence of aliens, ancient and some current, plays a re-occurring roll of intrigue in my life (mostly when i'm stuck on the History channel).
No, not in my case. My creator(s) owned the sperm and egg that combined to create me.
Of course, I'm not completely sure who my bio-father IS anyway. Maybe aliens would be able to authenticate the one I was told about. :-)
i like your second sentence, a mix of witty, creative, and atni-abortion.
Your last sentences inspired a new question to ask! (not directly to do with step fathers) and haha i'll ask as they explain to me the answers to the universe
I'm sure the Christians would have an answer for that if it happened. We have a geological record that proves the earth is 4.5 Billion years old and yet Christians had an answer for that. We have fossils of dinosaurs that are 65 million years old, yet the Christians are ready with an answer. We have DNA evidence that humans are 98% genetically identical to apes, yet Christians ignore that. We have fossils of humanoid ancestors that are 2 million years old and even pottery and remains of other species of humans that are only 30,000 years old--Christians have an answer. The oldest homo sapien remains ever discovered are 100,000 years old. Christians insist that the world is only 7,000 years old. Mathematics, chemistry, and physics tells us that the universe is expanding and that it began 14 Billion years ago. My evidence is based on enlightenment principles and scientific discovery that was compiled over the course of about 500 years with experimentation. Their evidence is based on a book that was finally compiled in its current form about 1,600 years ago, but had begun in parts around 2,500 years ago. I suspect anyone that had a hand in the composition of those works were the con artists of their day.
This was an excellent answer, absentmindedly I nervously thought you were supporting christianity with your first few points until "...yet the Christians are ready with an answer.", ha.
Yes, christianity is a resilient force.
I would not question my faith if the existence of aliens become common knowledge. Mankind would like to believe that they are at the center of all creation, that is due to the false ego. There is no proof that I have seen that can conclusively say that mankind is at the center of the universe.
The creator is all powerful so it is possible that there could be so many other advanced being in existence, aliens, demigods, demons, etc. what does it matter. I still have to get up tomorrow and live my life. I can only deal with the here and now and what is present before me now.
The Vedic scriptures tell some fantastic stories about demigods, demons, etc, so there would be no changes in my mind, if we all found out that aliens were proven to be real.
I think this was the best said for someone on your side of this stance, some of it rhymed, and the most meaningful. I couldn't find those stories just now, but they sound interesting and i have read some of the Vedas.
I'm new to this site and now see that this was more appropriate for forums, so I won't be picking a "Best Answer", and since this has progressed to so much i won't be making a new one; this stays here, typo in header question an all.
To answer my own question: I continually question faith and beliefs in everything already, so yes, but "creator" would have to be in an abstract sense.

If nothing can only produce nothing, how did our universe start from nothing without God? There are many unanswered questions in the science and astronomy fields. Since these fields can not have God as an answer, they toss out data that disproves their belief about a Creator. Actually a Creator...

A few weeks ago I asked what I thought was quite a serious, searching question about the existence of God, and was rather disappointed when it got a very limited response. I feel I need to ask these questions just to see what you all think and maybe get a good discusion going. What is the meaning of life? Why are we here? Why are things the way they are? Where did god come from? He can't always have been there. Are there more of him? If so where are they? Does the...

What is the best way to explain the existence of God to an atheist?I've heard people try to convince atheists that there is a God by quoting the Bible or some other holy book. But quoting from such materials won't work. You have to believe in them before you can accept them as plausible...
