Hi--I'm curious as to what you make of my thinking on the origin of consciousness.

Agriculture promoted population growth and the creation of society, But we really didn't experience or feel emancipation from the soil until the last couple hundred years or so. necessitating higher levels of awareness--consciousness--because freedom to think leads to freedom to act--in many and varied ways.  Basically this threat is what's behind our developing our unique level of conscious awareness in the first place.  Our uniqueness isn't the point--our threat to each other is.  May I ask what your take on this is?

Dragonwolf137.  Our conscious awareness, as you call it, is not a recent evolvement.  Think Ancient Greek philosophers, the Ancient Sages of India, and various masters such as Jesus the Christ, Guatama the Buddha, etc..  I can see what you're getting at, though, most people didn't have the time to examine what and who we are because they were too busy.   Today, people 'make themselves busy' by escaping into T.V. computer games, films etc..   However, if you just examine the amount of spiritually-awakening stuff on these Hubsite alone, you'll possibly begin to accept - as I do - that we are, as a species, becoming more and more conscious, more and more aware.

One theory is Julian Jayne's "The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind".

But it is obviously not complete, given the prevalence of religious fervor and schizophrenia.

Consciousness is the next highest form of energy which leads to the ultimate or perfection Life /Light...

What we see and experience in this age are merely different and lesser forms of energy in varying degrees.

while consciousness can say I AM ....... in a limited perspective , the perfection of it will Say I AM with an unlimited perspective.

Consciousness begins as a spark, but grows into a flame which develops as we mature into adulthood. I don't believe that higher levels of consciousness are in any way a recent development. Certainly there is evidence of highly evolved communities living on Earth literally thousands of years ago, and I imagine that they would have been able to rise above the cycles of agriculture and horticulture when conceiving and planning their intricate cities and civilisations. The pyramids, and the Mayan calendar are good examples of just how developed some ancient civilisations truly were.

As far as spiritual consciousness goes, I do believe that we are entering an era where the physical realm in terms of possessions will become secondary to that of an appreciation of Mother Earth, and our connection to each other and the planet as a whole.

This isn't the answer; i just wanted to say i think its funny we use the means of the question to answer it in a clever ironic twist by delving deep in our conciousness to shed light on the subject big_smile And also i'm delving deep in my consciousness to make a response that won't answer said question but confuse readers when the question is sadly never answered.

I can only think that consciousnesses has always existed, and that it is possible that consciousness probably predates this universe.

The same thing that is happened with population and agriculture is happening with population and employment - that population, (unwillingly) are freed from tasks in modern society.  Some of this of this population will take advantage of this by exploring their consciousness and spirituality.
