if life-after death was proven false would religion still be so strongly followed?

would you still worship god? would religion in itself lose it's credibility.

I believe it would. I don't think it would be as large as it is now, but I think there would still be those who would still hope for something more.

I think the opposite is true as well. If life-after death was proven true and God was proven true, there would still be people who refuse to believe.

People don't like to hear about hell. But I'm here to tell you that if Jesus is not your Lord and Savior, you are on your way to hell. Some of you will be upset at this bad news. You think that I'm all gloom and doom. Tell me this...if your house were on fire, would you want me to let you know? Of course you would. You'd probably thank me for telling you. Well, if you go to hell, YOU will be the one on fire.
Hell may not be a politically correct topic these days, but many people enter hell everyday. Out of the 120,000 people that die everyday, most end up in hell. Hell is a real place despite the fact that people laugh and say that they want to go there. They simply don't understand how terrible hell is. Just because you've never seen hell doesn't mean it doesn't exist. We have a searing, accurate description of what hell is like in God's word. (We'll get to some scriptures in a minute) Hell is awful and if you don't believe in Jesus, you'd better get on the stick or else that's going to be your eternal destination.

    God bless you !

You are probably quite right it is the promise of eternal life that keeps the faithful in line.  Sad that it is based upon a lie !

But like all lies if is repeated often enough it is universally accepted.

It is based upon the old tales from the early pulpit, God sees all and hears all so you have to behave or else you'll end up in that other place!  Kept the masses in check for centuries.

When the church wanted something done or built don't expect any fat contract or payment.... No you will all get your reward in Heaven !

The suckers fell for it and still do.... and why because no one has ever come back and said it’s all a big fat con !

But instead of accepting the facts that there is no great beyond to come back from the faithful duly go on accepting the old rhetoric.  Not even the smell of coffee and wake them from centuries of brainwashing.

PS  There's no Hell either.... that's based on the same bullshit !

If there is the great big reward for being good (Do what I tell you ) obviously there has to be a Bobby prize if you're bad !

Yes, because the Who, Why, and how here is sufficient for a strong search for the truth. I am a strong believer that Jesus is our Lord and Savior, and is the Son Of God.

This question is oxymoronic (not you, but the question is inconsistent).
1st, how can someone from the "living" prove "continued life" exist upon death? Really consider this question: because upon logic analysis there is no way a "living person" can prove "life after death" wrong or right. Someone would be hard pressed to even come up with a logic theory. The fact that no one can present a logic-enough theory of how life after death isn't possible in itself discredits the possibility of "its provability". Everyone's answers that addressed your "would religion still be so strongly followed" are based on opinions not related to your question's first part: "if life-after death was proven false...." These opinions are based on the subjective thinking of how "religion" is viewed.
2nd, in order for one to answer this question pertaining to religion, one must first provide a logical theory addressing "tangible evidence" that either proves or disproves "continued life" after dying. Otherwise any answer independent of that objective reasoning is based another premise not relating to "the provability of life-after-death."
3rd, There is no way  to feasibly prove life-after-death is false. If I were to purposely die, in hope of returning with evidence that proves life-after-death is fake, and I didn't return that neither proves or disproves it because the "after-life" may be limited to the "spiritual realm" divided by an impenetrable veil that prevents communication with the "physical realm". However, if I was attempting to prove or disprove the scenario and I did return I still can neither produce tangible evidence nor logical explanation. Simply because I could be lying. The final outcome is I can't prove it's false if I don't return. And the only way to prove it's true is to return with "tangible evidence" witnessed by a formal body of scientific and religious observers. Also this "tangible evidence" must either be an item independent of the physical realm or prophetic knowledge that is so precise I couldn't have known it unless it was revealed somehow to me in the spiritual realm.

That is such a good question!

I dont think it would be so strongly followed, but religion would still exist an all that, as you religion (for some I guess) would be looking for that everyday forfillment, not just that which after death.

I don't believe that religion revolves around the life after death, or the rebirth, but how you validate yourself in your current life to which ever god or thing you have. Personally, life after death sounds a bit more promising than dirt. smile haha.

You cannot prove a negative.  The problem with religionists is that they are lacking an education in elementary logic.  They are the ones that have to prove something -- namely their claim of an afterlife.  But, believers have continued to believe despite millennia of lack of proof.  Logic and proof is of no concern to religionists.  Stupidity and ignorance rules.  Religion already has no credibility in the eyes of the non-believer.  But nothing will shake the faith of the stupid and ignorant.

All hope would be lost, there would be no reason to hope for and the doom of it would have happen long ago.

shadowking: it was a retorical question. it seems it's ok to believe in god though it can't or at least has never been proven but to believe we can prove life after death doesn't occure is oxymoronic? strange. there are always ways to prove anything, no matter what it is. with science developing the way it is such things will be provable in due time, no worries.
the question is neither inconsistent not irrelevant but rather a thought. nothing more nothing less.
