Faith Moments Today ~ July

Updated on August 17, 2014

Freedom Begins with God

Everywhere you look the world is moving at a face pace. When levels of stress are so high, it's easy to forget that we are living in the age of grace.

For our devotionals this month we will take another look at the power we have been given through operating in Gods love, whether it is an individual or an entire nation.

In week three our lesson takes place in the book of Daniel reminding us that we are to tell others of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Rounding out the month we take notice of the provision of God and how He cares for all of His creation.

Our study in our Faith Moments Today® Devotional for July:

Week 1: Take a Freedom Reality Check

Week 2: Operating in God's Love

Week 3: People Get Ready ~ Jesus Is Coming

Week 4: My God is My Provider

Take a Freedom Reality Check

Scripture Reading: Psalm 33

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." (Psalm 33:12)

On July 4th, 1776 a group of citizens in 13 colonies declared that they were no longer in bondage, subjected to the whims of the King of England. They stated in no uncertain terms that they were free and their trust was in the Lord God only.Because of their declaration, diligence, and their tenacity, over 200 years later we are still enjoying that freedom.

We are a blessed nation; one that can worship freely and move about at will. We are a nation whose currency says, "In God We Trust", but is that statement true?

With patriotism at an all-time high and signs proclaiming "God Bless America" on every street corner, we Americans need to take a reality check. How can God bless us if we don't know Him or serve Him?

It is time America for you to turn back to the God of creation, the God of salvation. It is time, America, for you to bless GOD!

Operate in God's Power of Love

Scripture Reading: John 13:34

"love one another; as I have loved you." (John 13:34)

"Sometimes it seems that no matter what you do or what you say, there are people that you come in contact with who are just itching for an argument. Regardless of the outcome, it is never a pleasant experience.Jesus spent his life here on earth constantly being followed and questioned by the "religious elite" of the day. They continually tried to trip Him up, arguing their views against His Word.

Eventually Jesus was brought before the High Priest and the Roman rulers. They accused Him, insulted Him, and even beat Him, but He never retaliated. He kept His peace and operated in love.

What can we learn from this? That it is our job to operate in love, and to see to it that we are not the ones carrying around an argumentative spirit. Let only the Spirit of Christ dwell in you!

People Get Ready ~ Jesus Is Coming

Scripture Reading: Daniel 12:4

"many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase." (Daniel 12:4)"Have you ever sat and watched people or looked up at planes flying overhead? Everything is moving, going to and fro at great speeds. A jet's average speed is 500 miles per hour. They can fly from Philadelphia to Los Angeles in a matter of hours. These things may certainly be what Daniel saw in his vision of the end times. How remarkable that we are living what he only saw in a dream.Daniel's vision was of the end times. The end times are here. Right now! Before we wake up tomorrow, Jesus could call for His Church. Before we take another breath, the rapture could occur.

In these hustle-bustle times we are prepared for everyday life with our cars, planes, fast food and Internet. We're prepared. But are we prepared for Christ's return? Ask Jesus into your heart today before it's too late.

My God is My Provider - Scripture Reading: Matthew 6:28

"Consider the lilies." (Matthew 6:28)

Have you ever listened to a bed of flowers? What did you hear? Maybe you heard the birds singing or some other background noise, but the flowers were silent.

The flowers weren't complaining that it had been too hot or too cold that day. They didn't mention that it hadn't rained for a week. They just stayed there silently, firmly planted in the good soil, waiting on God.

Our scripture reading speaks about the lilies and how they are arrayed. How did they get that way? By the LORD. God meets the needs for all of His Creation. That includes you! Don't ever doubt that He will take care of you!

Stand firmly rooted in God's Word. He will bring you the rain in due season to see to it that your needs are met! When it doubt, look at the lilies. ( read Deuteronomy 11:14)

Are you in fellowship with God?

Pray to Jesus right now by repeating this prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus,

I am sorry for my sins and for not believing in You as the One and only true God. I now want to make things right with You. Please come into my heart and save me. Forgive me of all my sins and make me clean.

I do believe that You died on the cross to save me from hell, and that You rose from the dead and are now in Heaven.

With all my heart I will follow you and be obedient to Your Word, and will fellowship with other believers. Thank you for saving me today.

In Your name I pray, Amen.

Have you prayed that prayer? If so, please let us know so we can rejoice with you. Click on the photo for privacy to leave your comment on my bio page.

Your Something is Coming

Scripture Reading: Philippians 4:19

Have you been praying, hoping, and waiting for God to bring something to pass in your life? You really need something and it seems as if it will never get to you?

There is a verse that helps me through times like this. Proverbs 13:12, "Hope deferred makes the heart sick: but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life."

As you wait, never lose sight of the fact that God will meet all your needs. When your needs are met, it will be to you like a tree of life as the Lord refreshes you with His love. So rejoice, your something is coming! (JW)

The Call Has Been Made

Scripture Reading: Philippians 3:13-14

What has God called you to do? God has a purpose and plan for each of us. It is not just to be a good husband or wife or good parents or grandparents. The world, even in its sinful state, has people who can do that.

God has something special in mind. Don't limit what you will do by thinking that you can't do much. God is willing and able to use ordinary people to do extraordinary things. God has put out a call for you. Have you answered? (JW)

"Brothers and sisters, I know I haven't reached the goal yet, but one thing I always do is forget the past mistakes and move forward, and keep going toward the prize of the High calling (from God)." (Phil. 3:13-14 *NCVYB)

24-7-365

Scripture Reading: Psalm 121

We are almost in the middle of summer, and it's vacation time for millions of Americans. Things we need or places that we want to go may not be available to us because folks have taken time off and closed up shop for a short while.

The good news is that even though people take time off, God never does. His Throne of Grace never closes. Our loving Heavenly Father is available to us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. No vacation or closing for Him.

We will never be met with a "Gone Fishing" sign from Heaven. But what we will always find is His grace and willingness to help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16).

So boldly keep going to the Throne of Grace; Jesus is still on duty! (JW)
