What Bible verses have influenced your life by the values they imparted?
O so many! So many verses have changed my life! One is John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish but have everlasting life." This verse led me to accept Christ as my Saviour, and I have never once regretted this decision, but rather have thanked the Lord over and over for saving my soul from Hell!
the verse that has influenced my life the most is Luke 12:27
'Consider the lilies...how they grow...they toil not, they spin not and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.'
To me it suggests that I am equally precious as those lilies and that God will take care of my every need as He does all of His creations.
Whenever I have moments of great stress, those words come to mind and really do offer me great comfort.
the second verse...
'...and the greatest of these is love.' Loving others is what I am asked to do. Love others. Not always an easy thing to do...but if I am loving someone then I am more patient and less judgmental.
Proverbs 3:5,6 - Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.
These are powerful verses. You just have to let go and let God. He is Omnipotent.
Psalms 4 verse 4 came in handy for a abused full mouth lady I used to be, all my energy and blessings came out of that mouth and I ended up empty and tired. When I learned to be quiet and cry to Jehovah my pains and worries. I got stronger everyday, the quiet gave me strength and I came out of troubled time. I used to say I left Babylon (confusion and false religion)!
One of the most important verses for me is Psalm 19:14. I love that whole Psalm, but I pray that verse very often, many times a week--"Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer."
I figure if I can get my heart and tongue under control, most of the rest will fall in line too!
Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God.
That sort of says it all to me.
What a great question. Thanks for inspiring me to make a Hub about it.
