My perspective is that we don't go anywhere but will be in the universe in one form or the other. Human soul is energy, and energy can neither be created nor destroyed. So once this life force is gone out of our body, it remains in some form of energy till it takes another form.. (nope, I am not an atheist )
karthikkash has hit on a point that I've argued with many who believe there is nothing. You cannot deny this no matter what your belief is.
That said, anyone who says "this is" is wrong already. "I believe" is the only way to start this answer. I believe that regardless of our destination, we will maintain a certain state of mind that will be eternal and equivalent to the sum of our lives here on earth. If you were a peaceful and happy person with good intent, you will be in essence trapped in that frame of mind as you pass. I believe some call it heaven. Same would be true for a restless soul.
The Bible says we either go to Heaven or Hell, based on whether we are 'sheep' or 'goats.' It just occurred to me that W.C. Fields made some nasty remarks about Philadelphia in his days, so as a native of Philly, I figure he's there smelling day old onions until the separation of sheep and goats occurs...just thinkin' out loud, so to speak!
We break down into energy , enter the earth and our energy is used by another life force to evolve and grow. We don't go to heaven or hell (Atheist here)
If you are saved by the blood of Jesus Christ, when you die you will go to Heaven.
If you are not saved by the blood of Jesus Christ when you die, you will go to Hell!
The bible makes this very plain and it is so easy to be a Christian and have a relationship with Jesus Christ - He is the only way!
John 3:16; 10:9,10; 14:6
no other "religion" makes such a great claim as the assurance of where one will go when you die, other than Christianity -
Whether or not you have a religion or whatever you believe. I'm a firm believer that it all depends on what you do in this life. Whether is good or bad, its all your choice.

How do atheists fight depression? This is a legitimate question. I'm an atheist and I find that when I start to think about death and the sheer vastness of the universe, I get overwhelmed. The birth and death of the earth (and the human race) is so quick and insignificant in the grand scheme of...

What happens to us after we die?Where do we go? What happens to our thoughts and feelings? Are they gone forever? Is there any real evidence of heaven or hell or reincarnation?

Where is Heaven or Hell actually located in a turning Universe? When Heaven or hell is spoken of there is the indication of direction, up or down. This becomes complicated in a turning and expanding Universe.
