Is Christianity under attack by Hollywood, the media, politicians, and other people within America?

For sure! Christ does not sell movie tickets. Sex and murder does. Christianity is now, has always been, and will always be under attack

Of course, that's to be expected. (John 15:18).

What is not to be expected is the vehemence of the return attack (Romans 12:18) ... it's not as wide spread as certain media types would have you believe, and when the media insists on calling disagreement "hate", then there's not a lot that can be done.

I think the young lady who faced this situation handled it quite well, in the face of what was, ironically, a hate-filled tirade accusing someone else of being hate filled:

I suspect the way this young lady handled it was more typical than not.

From the beginning there have been those who claimed to follow Jesus but did not (Luke 6:46).  Those people, of course, provide all the ammo necessary for the attacks you are asking about.

Jesus told us that when we follow Him, we will be hated by the world. This kind of persecution is normal. On the other hand, when was the last time you heard of Hollywood, the media, OR politicians being able to describe or depict ANYTHING accurately. It isn't just an attack, it is ignorance.

Christianity is under attack and has been under attack for a long time. Presently, there are social communities that are seeking to categorize Biblical teachings as 'hate speech'. Families that have the traditional two parent structure are often seen as instruments of repression. The politicians have removed God  and prayer that mentions Jesus from schools, court rooms and military. The attacks have also been indirect in the form of attacks on the 'traditional' family and their values by Hollywood. Hollywood has worked on undermining Christian values since the 1960's.  The sad part is that many Christians have gone along with these attacks and backed down when they should have stood up. They even welcome and embrace the politicians and political machines that have been attacking them and removing their influence from society. It astounds me that the same government that removes the ten commandments is given a place of honor and worship in many churches.

In terms of the popular media, Christian values have been ridiculed for decades. The adult industry has long worked on mocking the Christian community. The ridicule is now becoming more venomous. The media, in the form of publishing houses have worked on watering down Christianity and the Bible for well over a century.

The comments you've received prior to mine are right on target.  Yes, we are under attack.  The problem is most christians are afraid to take a stand, fearing the ignorant vocal minority and their incessant accusations of hate and "judging."

Yes, Christianity has always been under attack from the forces of evil and indifference. Most world religions are always under attack from those who would try to destroy the greatest power and stabilizing force known to human kind. Those who would dare to malign and destroy in whatever they may try, had best to take heed, the Lord God will be watching and dealing with them, for God is a fortress and mighty force that will not spare in His ruling and acts to correct evil doers. Those who experienced the wrath of God from eons in the past, if alive, could testify to this. The media has been given a blank check and allowed to twist and destroy the values of the family and goodness that once was so admired by most people in the world. A violent society has been spawned by violent acts spread across the screens by a few demented individuals bent on making money and feeding their greedy habits.

There seems to be two problems against Christianity in the world today.
Christianity is being attacked in many ways.  The media, politicians, Hollywood, video games, the internet.  I could go on and on.  But there is another problem Jesus said   "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked" (Revelation 3:15-17 NIV translation).  There are many Christians who are not hot or very cold.  They are just in the middle.  Warm and comfortable. They go to church on Sunday.   They are comfortable.  They do not want to have any conflicts, or argue with anyone.  Just nod, shake your hand.  That is about it.  Walk out the door, then go watch a football game.  Sounds like a wonderful Sunday, doesn't it?

Beautifully put, @Michele Travis. It seems many so-called Christians have forgotten the true meaning of it all. They forget humility and the hunger to know more of truth. They become lazy and think they have it all figured out. Sad.

Yes, Christianity is under attack, both from without and within.

I remember a picture of US astronauts in the 60s sitting around a table, praying before their mission into space. Now, Tebow is ridiculed for praying on the football field. That's sad.

But not only does the Corporate Party media kool-aid overtly and by innuendo attack those who believe, we also have people within the church subverting Christianity and its true meaning.

First of all, no one knows truth, so why are so many acting as though they do? Shouldn't we all be more humble to search for more truth and meaning within the Bible? Don't we all need the humble hungering of a beggar in our approach to the gates of heaven? Only when we have an empty cup can that cup be filled. If we think we know it all, then we'll never receive the truth.

I remember at a Christmas party at my brother's house in Phoenix a few years back, one Christian was so happy to have been saved, because now he could commit any crime and still go to heaven. His minister had told him so. What kind of twisted logic is that? Didn't Jesus say to the woman who almost had been stoned for adultery, "Go and sin no more?" There is wisdom in not sinning and not hungering after sinful things. I'm afraid that the "saved" Christian was attempting to follow 2 masters, and that's just not possible.

Another minister, online, let it be know on their website that we cannot perform miracles as individuals. Only by the combined numbers of Christians worldwide can we do anything "miraculous." Somehow, I think he missed the point of what "miracle" means. Swaying governments by numbers of members voting is a physical-universe-based strategy. That's not a miracle, in my book. Walking on water is a miracle. Moving a mountain by asking that it move, now that's a miracle! I've seen real miracles and felt the presence of the loving Father. Some ministers of Christianity do not know what they're talking about. They have not yet found true faith. And they're leading their flock astray by such lies.

You are correct.  There is one on  TV who preaches about money.  Joel Osteen.  He tells people money is a good thing.  That is not what  the bible teaches us.

Whatever the media throws at the viewer, the viewer should know better. Christianity has to do with the foundations of everything good in people. The media cannot interfere with that unless the family is faulty.

Yes, of course. But, we don't have to be intimidated because we are LIGHT in this dark world and we are to shine in the darkness!  We have authority in Jesus' name and demons and darkness have to bow to that name.  Our job as Christians is to know Jesus, know His Word and show Jesus to the world. He is Love, He is Light and in Him is all LIFE! smile

To which country in the American continents were you thinking, there are many.  No I don't believe that Hollywood, the news networks, any political party, or any particular American country, is attacking Christianity.
