A question for thoughts...
If a tree falls but nobody is around, does it make a sound?
Yes! Have you seen the photo making the rounds on Facebook of a bear having, uh, his morning constitutional in the woods? That's what your question made me think of.
Why yes. My husband asks a similar question: If a man speaks, and his wife is nowhere near to hear him--is he still wrong?
Aha, very good question there... One that even I don't know how to answer
Haha! Why yes, yes he is. (Not man bashing, I love men. Just being silly.)
LOL. A man who cannot be humble doesn't deserve his wife. And my wife is all kinds of humble, teaching me slowly every day.
Sounds can be heard though you maybe thousand miles away. I do have some sort of feeling of uneasiness when certain things happened without my knowledge. It is the inner thoughts.
Yes,edhan, those of us who have this gift of a strong sense of our surroundings and seeming to be an extra sense that we may possess, may well have these perceptions in our environment. It seems rare and not very common, yet some people have these.
Please read my hub on "Echo in the Wilderness". It may answer your question.
Yes! A sound is merely compressive waves in matter. Just as light is wave-particles of energy! Either one will have an effect on the objects they strike -- warming them up, vibrating them, causing movement in some cases.
You don't have to have an ear receive the sound for it to exist.
Just as you don't have to have eyes see the blue flowers in the field on the 4th planet out from Psi 5 Aurigae, for those flowers to exist. http://www.ancientsuns.com/extrasolar-p … ntrich.php
Yes, it makes a sound. Loud too. Too bad for the tree; nobody is around to 'hear' it.
The ear was created for the sake of sound
sound was created for the ear.
without a hearing ear sound does not exist.
without sound the ear does not exist.
the two always walk together or not at all.
in the same respect, even the tree and the forest cannot exist... except
in the statement made by the observer in whom all of these things do exist and are each given their substance.

WHERE does a sense of humor come from? WHY does it even exist in the universe? HOW did it happen?Does it come from the brain? Divinity? A person's upbringing, environment, genetic makeup? A combination of many factors, both physical and metaphysical?

I can understand the positives of putting your faith in such and such religion, which is why I do not think religion as a whole should be completely eradicated, however in this day and age I honestly wouldn't mind if it was.My question is this: why does religion NEED to exist? If you say "So...

What if this happened today. All the news networks, all the world leaders, all the scientists, all the leaders of churches announced that it was proven that God does not exist. Proven beyond any reasonable doubt whatsoever. What would you do? How would society and the world react?

Is anybody else irritated that when answering a question, you get told the answer is too short?I have tried answering a few questions, and while I am not just writing yes or no, I apparently don't have enough words. I had a 6 word answer and they wouldn't accept it. Do you think that forces a...
