Today is Pentecost Sunday, for a few more hours here at least.

Happy and blessed Pentecost to Christians everywhere!  Have any Hubbers observed any special commemoration of the day?

I didn't realise it was until I saw songs of Praise on BBC1 this morning whilst filling up the paddling pool.

I know what you mean!  I grew up in a Christian denomination and at a time that pretty much ignored Pentecost.  In more recent years, I have come to understand and appreciate the significance of it much more deeply.

I ought to be ashamed of myself then because most of my Christian life I attended Pentecostal churches!! :-O

It's very significant.  An initial empowerment of hope and knowledge which sent the disciples and others out to spread the Gospel,  just as each sinner today who receives Christ as Savior becomes immediately filled with the Spirit and is empowered to boldly "go into all the world" and "preach" and "prophesy" about the Lord.
