I don't get into the forums much at night (my night anyway), and when I do it's like a "Yay Jesus!" religion fest in here. Don't you guys ever sleep? You do realize that the more you jabber on, the more it sounds like white noise, right?

      What is a "religionist"?

earnestshubposted 13 years agoin reply to this

A person addicted to religion or a religious zealot. smile

To expand on what Earnest said--it's a zealot who can't stop talking.

Then what is one who is antagonistic to religion, but also won't leave the subject alone?

So, you define someone who is obsessed with their faith or religion, and speak of it constantly, as a "religionist", an undefined term, but one you definitely intend to be pejorative - implying imbalance.

But you then you take another person, with the same obsessive fanaticism, but whose obsession is to belittle, besmirch, or otherwise hurt others, and call it healthy.

I'd say you are the same thing as an obsessive racist, who proactive hates due to race, except it's not about race, you proactively seek to spread hate towards someone who intends you no harm.    Given the choices,  I'll take the "religionist" as my neighbor or employee or whatever, as someone to be around, 100 times out of 100.   Destructive people are not productive, they destroy everyone, including themselves.

I got the word definition from wordweb. I use it all the time. smile

I don't know how destructive people got into your comment, but I have had a very constructive life, so you couldn't mean me. smile
I find all people to be about the same actually ...

When you tell me goddunnit you lose me there OK? I don't do god. smile

The term "religionist" is a HubPages forum "made-up" term. It is only for reference to die-hard "religious" folk.
This is untrue. Anyone hurt by words lack knowledge and wisdom of life. If someone feels that they are being belittled, then they need to get over themselves.
The message they spread as "truth" is actual lie, therefore they perpetuate the lie, either unknowingly or knowingly. The object is to make them aware of it, because obviously they are not. If they are knowingly perpetuating forth the lie, then obviously they are dishonest and would need to be called out for it. No sort of racism or racists here.
I am sure you would, because apparently you're one of them. The only question is which- unknowingly or knowingly? hmm
Yes, they do, just like people who knowingly perpetuate lies.

                    So, please.

@weholdthesetruths " Destructive people are not productive, they destroy everyone, including themselves."..that is why people like me dont like religion..it destroys reasoning, logic and creates division...what we have seen happening in world since last few years or in history scares me off from religion...

"Addicted" that's rich. We love draging our families to church every Sunday and piling into over stuffed chaples while trying to keep the kids quiet so we can listen to people speak about God for an hour or three. It's sooooooo addictive! HA!
