I don't get into the forums much at night (my night anyway), and when I do it's like a "Yay Jesus!" religion fest in here. Don't you guys ever sleep? You do realize that the more you jabber on, the more it sounds like white noise, right?
A person addicted to religion or a religious zealot.
To expand on what Earnest said--it's a zealot who can't stop talking.
Then what is one who is antagonistic to religion, but also won't leave the subject alone?
So, you define someone who is obsessed with their faith or religion, and speak of it constantly, as a "religionist", an undefined term, but one you definitely intend to be pejorative - implying imbalance.
But you then you take another person, with the same obsessive fanaticism, but whose obsession is to belittle, besmirch, or otherwise hurt others, and call it healthy.
I'd say you are the same thing as an obsessive racist, who proactive hates due to race, except it's not about race, you proactively seek to spread hate towards someone who intends you no harm. Given the choices, I'll take the "religionist" as my neighbor or employee or whatever, as someone to be around, 100 times out of 100. Destructive people are not productive, they destroy everyone, including themselves.
I got the word definition from wordweb. I use it all the time.
I don't know how destructive people got into your comment, but I have had a very constructive life, so you couldn't mean me.
I find all people to be about the same actually ...
When you tell me goddunnit you lose me there OK? I don't do god.
Yes, I meant you. I turned your own words and logic on you.
The term "religionist" is a HubPages forum "made-up" term. It is only for reference to die-hard "religious" folk.
This is untrue. Anyone hurt by words lack knowledge and wisdom of life. If someone feels that they are being belittled, then they need to get over themselves.
The message they spread as "truth" is actual lie, therefore they perpetuate the lie, either unknowingly or knowingly. The object is to make them aware of it, because obviously they are not. If they are knowingly perpetuating forth the lie, then obviously they are dishonest and would need to be called out for it. No sort of racism or racists here.
I am sure you would, because apparently you're one of them. The only question is which- unknowingly or knowingly?
Yes, they do, just like people who knowingly perpetuate lies.
So, please.
I, being a "die hard religious" person do understand that it's just made up, coined by others as a pejorative.
And, whether or not I am hurt by anything you may say matters not the slightest. It is that you INTEND AND WISH people to be hurt by what you say.
AKA, destructive.
Thanks for playing along and making it all so clear.
Actually, you would be wrong in your words. My intention or wish, as you put it, is not to harm. The fact that you see it that way, just supports what I said about those who do see it that way.
Get over yourself.
I'll say it again, rationalize, sensible human beings, who have a conscience and wisdom of life- these sort of people understand the most basic fundamental to life.
Living life does not require any belief in a god.
Understanding life does not require any belief in a god.
Therefore, there is no god.
I'm not arguing anything about whether God exists or not. My opinions on that are irrelevant to my posting. You got caught defining obsessively acting to hurt other people as "normal" and "good".
Again, it doesn't matter if they get hurt or not, you admitted that you do it with the INTENT of hurting people, and further, you accepted the definition of that behavior as being healthy and good.
You can't back out of this. You walked into it wide eyed and enthusiastically.
WHTT: Where the heck did you come up with anyone in this thread intending people to be hurt by anything in it? Geez...
Anyhoo, it's now officially the weekend. Let's all just get along...
A religionist and religious zealot from the HubPages forums are standing by the side of the road holding up a sign that reads, "The End is Near! Turn around before it's too late!"
"Leave us alone you religious nuts!" yelled the first driver as he sped by.
From around the curve they heard screeching tires and a big splash. "Do you think," said one clergy to the other, "we should just put up a sign that says 'Bridge Out' instead?”
It doesn't matter what subject anyone makes any statement about, calling it truth ; Someone else is going to call them a liar.
So according to someone ;... we are all liars. You and I and everyone is a liar according to somebody.
Try this on.
The Nissan 2.4 litre petrol motor has 12 valves or three per cylinder.
I can take the head off the motor and count them. Yep 12.
I could go on all day without quoting one lie or finding one error providing it is a quality workshop manual I am using.
Try that on "the Good book"
"In the beginning god......." hold it right there that looks like a lie!
See what I mean?
@weholdthesetruths " Destructive people are not productive, they destroy everyone, including themselves."..that is why people like me dont like religion..it destroys reasoning, logic and creates division...what we have seen happening in world since last few years or in history scares me off from religion...
A rationalize, sensible human being, who grew a conscience and a wisdom of life.
"Addicted" that's rich. We love draging our families to church every Sunday and piling into over stuffed chaples while trying to keep the kids quiet so we can listen to people speak about God for an hour or three. It's sooooooo addictive! HA!
Irohner,
Why sleep when we can go back and forth with you guys?
LOL! I was COMPLETELY unaware that you guys had a sense of humor too! Nice!
How can you sleep with God talking in your ear all the time?
Of course I too am an insomniac who hears voices but for entirely different reasons.
It is not a made up word. I told you where you can find it. WordWeb.
Vampires and werewolves do. so why should "religionists" be any different?

Why Do Religious People Get So Angry At Atheists? When it comes to Atheism, most religious people get angry and even combative when it comes to this subject. I wonder why, especially in this day and age, one would feel anger towards another human being with a different perception/outlook/belief....

I am beginning to feel that some religionists, especially of the evangelistic bent are either blind, cannot read, have been forbidden to learn, are indoctrinated or live in constant subconscious fear. Of course the usual religious forum disclaimer applies. I luvs yers all!
