I believe we all talk about our favorite scriptures in the Bible... but I would like to know your favorite story in the bible!

One of my favorite is Daniel in the lion's Den! I think it's an awesome story of how God protected Daniel even in the face of great carivores!

Read about Daniel in the Lion's den here:

    http://www.keyway.ca/htm2002/lionden.htm

So what is your favorite story of the Bible??

Daniel in the lion's den is one of my favorite stories also. I love the story about the three Hebrew boys of how God protected them while they walk around in the fire. They were not burned at all. Give God the Glory!

catholicism is not christiandom..... how many times have you read that in the forums. The christians were the disciples of jesus... and the early church was nearly wiped out. The catholics were in charge of the killings. If you take the time to research what you parrot you will find the catholics have a horrible history of powermongering and greed, deception, blood.
I hope this is the last time i have to type this.

I think that is true;Jesus had nothing to do with Catholicism or any of the 32000+ denominations.

WOC - I already have my facts straight.  I have been and stood in many of the places you read about in your book.  I have studied your bible with real experts whose life it is to study it.  You are a child - and you should accept that it would be better if you did not display your infantile self in these forums.  I can see that you are a nice person, and I can see this from your writing, my degree is in English with Critical thinking, and with the minimum of analysis your nature shines through your paper thin words.

I really do not want to have to continually point out the ridiculous nature of your pronoundements and discoveries and your strange attempts at justifying hoaxes that were created for a hoax website competition and the hoaxers post the explanations of how they made the hoax - would tell any normal person that this is a hoax.

Please confine yourself to the love-me-love-you threads and the sripture exchange threads where your views will not even raise an eyebrow - and I will not have to point out that you know nothing and have the reasoning ability of a small child.

            Peace and love

alternate, very clever and deceitful of you. I hope you feel better. You have to call me a child in order to boost your ego power. Your hateful attempts to belittle me is not working. By the way, the title of this thread is: Stories in the Bible!!! This thread is not about a hoax website competition. It would be very kind and mature of you if you can show respect in this forum. I will not waste my time arguing with you. I will happily confine myself to any thread that I choose. I invite you to politely point yourself to Jesus and accept him into your life. Take care!

You have to view this against the backdrop of history. As a story it is necessary to question why any compassionate 'god' would protect three people and ignore all the trillions through the passage of time who suffered terrible lives and deaths at the hands of the followers of such a 'god' ?

Well I suppose that is your view AP!

I believe God has mercy on whom he has mercy on! If God saved everybody then the world would be over-populated! Of course that doesn't wash with you... but that's okay! We disagree! Peace!

I think we are all capable of deciding what we will or will not believe!

I believe God has mercy on whom he has mercy on An interesting sentence that says nothing at all - but hey.

I guess this is at least reasoning of a sort, sick reasoning,  but it is a start I suppose.

No we don't have to wonder why God helped three children while trillions (lol a bit of an exaggeration) over the passage of time.
then i guess God should help no one ever so long as one person is suffering. Suffering brings people to christ not being wealthy and rich and okay with lots of material things.
God helped the hebrew people leave egypt and egypt was in ruins, socially, economically, militarily...
Just because you want to hold up a banner that says, If one person starves we should not go to disneyland that is your prerogative, but to blame a God you don't believe in seems strange indeed.
God having mercy on whom he will have mercy, to the spiritually awake person says heaps.
Because you don't understand it doesn't make it wrong.

There is no record anywhwere of hte jews leaving egypt, let alone that civilzation collapsing because of it - you are watching too many movies instead of doing your bookwork.  In fact Egyptian records don't even mention it, and the pyramid building went on and the records of grain storage etc went on without any noticeable change - and yes those records DO exist.

Maybe they just didn't notice a bunch of peasants wandering off into the desert ?

Today, my favorite story is of Nehemiah.....
They were rebuilding the wall and others were coming against them, but the people of God refused to stop building the wall. The Bible says that they worked on the wall with one hand and held their weapons with the other....Neh. 4

It is more historically involved, but this is the gist of it....

Oh dear - another historical 'fact'.  You have clearly never tried to build anything other than castles in the sky. You can test this one yourself - go out and build a wall with one hand, and remember the blocks were around one tonne each,  good luck with it.

Bible has a lot of unbelievable absurd stories in it. First God makes man out of dirt and woman out of a rib, then a snake gets them to eat a fruit and that screws up the whole world. Next the world is flooded when god gets pissed off, but luckily all the animals (even dinosaurs according to some Evangelicals) come to Noah and he builds a giant boat that fits them all in, saving them from the torrential rains. Oh and there’s a guy getting swallowed by fish only to re-emerge to preach hellfire and brimstone, another guy who flies a chariot into Heaven, and another who splits a sea in two just by waving his staff in the air. There’s a donkey that talks, a little boy who kills a giant ( I WONDER WHERE ARE ALL GIANTS NOW? ) with a slingshot, and finally god’s son comes down to save the whole mess by being brutally murdered, coming back to life and then flying off into the sky like superman ( ALTHOUGH HE FORGOT TO WAVE TADA TO THE ROMANS, MAY B THATS WHY NO ROMANS EVER MENTIONED HIS RESURRECTION) . Oh and don’t forget he’ll be back to toss all the people who doubted him and this book into hell.

These stories are so far fetched that if someone was telling you they saw them take place you would think they were nuts. We’ve just heard them repeated over and over again until we believed them, and afterwards turned off our BRAINS PERMANENTLY. Think critically about the stories in the bible. They cannot be literally true. When was the last time you saw a talking donkey, a plague of frogs, or people coming back from the dead?

I am always amazed at how many inaccuracies people use to convince themselves of truth.
yep to dirt and yep to rib. it was not a snake as in legless tube creature. it wasnt a fruit as such. The dinosaurs went extinct for some reason some speculate a meteor i think possibly drowning. smile. Jonah was in the belly of a fish that God prepared specially for this task. There is no evidence that the chariot went to heaven but the chariot is believable. The staff was not what split the sea in two, the staff raised by moses was an indicator who was in charge of the group. When moses raised the staff, God parted the waters and the people knew God was backing up moses. The donkeys mouth was loosed which represents more of a ventriloquist act than actual vocal cords being formed the lung capacity of the animal increased, some human mental intelligence would have to be added. There have always been giants there are giant people in africa, some russians are over 7 feet tall. Do not forget the earth was at one time pristine and contained almost 100% oxygen in which with healthy foods things grow big. And as your big crescendo of wrongness heightens up to the heavens, you mock the cross. LOL. This is horrendous, escalator going Down! He will be back to separate the sheep from the goats and eschew people who think like YOU DO! lol
Just to poke you.. i have seen a smoking gorilla, a talking minah bird and parrot, a water skiing squirrel and i am sure lots of animals coolties that i have no seen occur, plagues of frogs, in greece: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newsvid … rogs.html. Plague of frogs occurred once in the bible, it is not a frequent occurance but neither can it be deemed as an impossibility. There are tons of people who believe there are spirits roaming around, possessing houses and even people. I am not one of them but the bible does not endorse the belief of people coming back from the dead, except in one case, Gods Son... to show that there is a resurrection and hope for the afterlife. Not impossible to understand since it is prophesied throughout the volume of (Gods) book.
rishy... i am saddened by your lack of understanding and especially your knowledge. Your post was just written hastily and it was prompted by anger. You need to be calmer and think reasonably. Could so many people be so stupid as to be believe bible stories if they were so unbelievable. So often the carnal unsaved, stand on the outside of christiandom and of what God is doing, discounting every truth from Gods word and his people and these outsiders are constantly wrong in their assumptions, outdated in revelation of Gods word which is revealed in layers and to those who seek him. Posts like yours are easy to refute because the source of my information is not mocked at all.

I see some hubbers appreciated ur response already smile

& I see u lack the ability to understand the simplicity of my post.

          - It doesnt matter whether it was snake or mongoose, the matter is the story which is not compatible with rationality. Of course, its your wish to interpret it again & again from different angles until it fits right.

          - Meteor doesnt coz drowning, It causes explosion.

          - Ventriloquist act? How many donkeys are there with enhanced mental ability?

          - It doesnt matter what stuff he waved over the sea but the parting of it is. Again, no proof!! Egyptian history is one of the most richest of the world. Unlike us, those guys were really smart & wrote every bits & pieces of information of their life. Unfortunately, no mention of Moses, or his magics or the ten plagues or the exodus!!! Of course you can create Sci-fi conspiracy theories to make it real!!

          - Giants were always there? Do we have archaeological proof? Dinosaurs are not the giants of the Bible! 7 feet tall russians & africans are not the Nephilims of the Bible. Unless u misinterpret it to save ur arse.

          - Yes, plague of frogs. My bad, it is a rare occurrence  may be. But 10 plagues in the same location, One after one!!! Only possible in a fantasy tale!

"Interpretation" is just another excuse to hide the flaws of Bible! You can interpret it again & again, but you can not make a lie -true permanently!!

some birds talk because they are able to mimic sounds.  Who did the snake get to mimic?  And now you're saying the snake wasn't a real snake and the fruit wasn't real fruit?  ie we can't take it all literally (which is what most christians do)

All day the people cried out to their pagan God Baal, but a fake God cannot hear! When Elijah called out unto the Lord to light the Alter with fire... The one and only God lit the fire and consumed even the water in the trench! All the people cried out for they knew the Lord God of Abraham was in fact the one true God! This angered Jezebel and she ordered for him to be killed, but God took Elijah home before she could do anything to him!!! Amazing story! Thanks for sharing!!

Sometimes I wish that I didn't agree with you.

          But when I do ???
          I do !

If we understand correctly what is written in the book of Dasniel, we understand the book of Revelations diffrently.

And if we understand Daniel for what it says; we would then have to question the validity of Paul.

Do we have faith in God ?
He said to not have faith in any other.

Do we have faith in "reigion"?

If we do ??  We then would have faith in another ?

lol what a lot of rot you do write
Paul was beheaded, as he could not be crucified as he had roman citizenship from birth being born in a roman town but a jew by jewish parents.
Nero apparently was away when the prefects of the city had Paul beheaded.
People do not die purporting lies neither do they endure the following:
2 Corinthians 11:23   Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.
2 Corinthians 11:24   Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.
        2 Corinthians 11:25   Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;
        2 Corinthians 11:26   In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
2 Corinthians 11:27   In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

Paul is highly regarded by the other disciples. His letters are phenomenal, wonderful, enlightening and vividly inspiring.
Anybody who speaks ill of Paul does devils work.

You don't even read the whole of the Wiki article you are so arrogant in your ignorance.

Whatever you were babbling about with the random verse selection I have no idea

Paul was NOT accepted by the disciples (who were all old by the time the young upstart Paul butted into the gang) - he even tried a political takeover by criticing Peter, you remember, the rock that your christ is supposed to have directly said he would build his church upon! (according to letters of the time that mention this) he was properly ticked off and slunk off to some other country.

Paul is also considered by many theologians to be the the one who perverted the original message - as would be predicted by christ himself - if Paul didn't do then who did along the way I wonder?  By your own book and your own words you are following the wrong book.

The pentecostal christians love paul - all his talk about gifts of the spirit and prophesising etc - they all think they hear God's voice - or maybe just voices in their head

It would hardly be a surprise to find that Pentecostals were the army of the anti-christ now would it big_smile

stick to sensibility please and take your lumps as they come to you for you fully deserve your lumps, its what the spirit of debating is all about.
I am sorry you are so very wrong most if not all of the time but as the evidence weighs out you are completely wrong all of the time.
Perhaps the dictates of your government are not so solidly founded in truth.
Your post above is neither founded in anything else but malicious speculation, it is not meant as a joke, it is a form of slanderous accusation that is so customary of your father the devil.
have a good day sir, but please keep yourself in a civil manner
If you have any proof of pauls falibility then provide a hub please to explain but you don't.
This part here that you mention - he even tried a political takeover by criticing Peter. I know of this situation and peter needed to confronted as peters weakness was confrontation. Peter did not like to be confronted. Duriing the time paul confronted peter, peter had withdrawn from the church and was adhering to OT rituals of NOT eating with gentiles. Which was a wrong thing to do, Paul was correct. Jesus did found the church on Peters Saying about christ being the rock... not peter this is a misconception. Christ founded the church on peters saying that christ is the son of God.
Again you err not knowing the scriptures nor having Gods flavor to help you understand them.

Paul deserved it, in terms of Deuteronomy, as he made himself an epistle of Jesus unauthorized; he saw no vision; just made it up.

I have always been intrigued with the story about the four refusing to eat the food from the kings table.

Sounded a bit like they were vegetarians ?

Wondered if a lifetime of healthy food might have straightened their spiritual and mental capabilities.

Always wondered how smart I might be today if I had taken better care of my brain this past 60 years.
       (Yep    Child of the 60s)

When we start getting dumber do we see it happening??

    I think not.

    My favorite bible story:

                     2 Kings 2:23-24
23 From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. “Go on up, you baldhead!” they said. “Go on up, you baldhead!” 24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.

These youths got exactly what they deserved, mocking a man of God.  After the bears killed them, I'm sure they also went straight to hell.

    Isn't God's love amazing?

Thank you.  But I'm perplexed that libby101a has not commented on how fabulous my bible story is.  No Amen or nothing.

I don't understand, being that my chosen story shows the amazing power of God.

      God is awesome.

I like the story about Eliza and Elisha.  When they were in the cabin and (I forget which one) One ask God to allow the other on to see the army of Angels that were around the cabin in the spirit realm ready to protect them from the Kings Army that was getting ready to attack.

Like there is a spiritual realm just right out side of our vision?

I like the story about how thousands of people all crossed the Jordan river to slaughter men, women and children, their pets and animals.

We haven't seen genocide like that in centuries.
