If everybody didn't think that we knew so much already,
We might be ready to learn so much more.
If everyone knew that they already know all tthings then they would not seek to hide anything.
And that which they seek to hide is that which dominate them.because it gives reality to ignorance which has becomes themselves.
I almost understood that completely , ... then it got away from me. I think I know, kinda, what you are saying ... sorta?
The nature of this world is so because men believes that ignorance exist.....therefore it does and it begins with themselves.
But Truly ignorance cannot ever exist unless men make it so and those who do, faces the consequences which is they become Ignorant and this is called death..
If believers took the time to think and learn things, they would know a great deal more than they do and begin understanding that we do indeed know a lot of the world around us.
You can only learn more when you actually think and understand, Jerami. Believing in gods and other such fairy tales is the antithesis of your reasoning.
Ya know?
I was agreeing with ya until ya came to the last sentance.
You are assuming my Idea oF what God is, is the same as yours.
And before you ask, No, it seems as though I will never be able to explain to you how that works.
but it seems most people on this forum have minds shut as tight as a fish's bottom - watertight
Someone who truly understands wisdom over the course of their lifetime is likely to say:
"If I didn't know then what I don't know now..."
I do like the way you think jerami. You're right. Some have closed the book, and some think they've written the book. As far as I see it, there has to be a book, but the pages are written in, what so far appears to be, invisible ink.
It seems to me that as I get older, all I really know is how much I don't know. That doesn't mean I'm going to give up learning things, but I sure won't make the assumption that I've already learned it all.
Sometimes I thing , the more I learn, the further away from the simple truth I am.
When we become confused because we don't undrstand all the facts, we don't need more facts.
When we get confused we need to back up and rethink what we already think we know before we add to it.
First figure out where we are in our thinking, before proceeding farther.
I think there's some wisdom in that. We forget some of what we learn so quickly that it probably behooves us to take stock of what we know and pull out long unused knowledge before pursuing more.
True and when we are pulling out that unused knowledge, we need to also be looking for that which does not belong.
We should be looking for those misconceptions that we used to hold onto.
As out thinking progresses we usually discover outdated thoughts which we should not keep holding onto.
As new thoughts are stored, they do afect the old thoughts.
Or something like that.
Nobody bats a thousand. I like the way you think too Jerami. And your right about something hidden in plain sight. I had something out on hubs recently and the answer was right in front of them.Your one smart n lovable lady Mo!

How do you let your past go?Many of us have some rough past and something that haunts us every now and then. How do you let go of things in past and live in present?

I find a lot of people confuse being ignorant with being stupid. They are different. To be ignorant of something (and one may be ignorant of a few few things, or a great many things) means that one doesn't know about something, and doesn't realize that one doesn't know.To be stupid means not to have...

Do you think people should have to display an understanding of politics before being allowed to voteI don't mean an in-depth understanding, just a basic one of how government works and what each party/candidate stands for.

But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Here's what bothers me. Why is the word adultery used? What if the woman being observed is unmarried? then that would be fornication not adultery, right?
