Many people today don't think or celebrate what today means to a Christian although many who don't believe in God or christianity still color eggs and give out candy.
Let's relect on what today IS all about, why we call it Easter, the historical basis which is Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins, so that we may get to Heaven.
On our own, we sin and are not worthy. As human beings created we are nothing without the grace of God.
Yet many think out of pride that they can "save" themselves by leading a life of luxury while forgetting that humility and love of neighbor is what brings true joy!
Most people at their time of death want to know two things: If they have loved and if they have loved well.
As a reminder to myself, Jesus died on the cross on Good Friday for us. He planned to do this from the beginning of time, because he knew we being weak, we would falter. He created us to populate heaven, to share heaven with us and have us be in his company, glory, and joy.
The fact we have free will, is what creates evil, God doesn't create evil, it is us who create evil by making bad choices!
God does continue to allow us to have free will though, for why would YOU or I want someone to love us if they are forced to? No, we want someone to love us of their own choice, only THAT is true love, not fixed or fabricated love.
God wants the same from us, for us to choose to love him, by acknowleging we are human and sinners, that we need him, are sorry for our sins and are grateful he is a mericful God and will be until the end of time.
let us reflect today on what Easter is really about-- a celebration that Jesus OVERCAME the world. ANd we can too. By his example. We can lead "holy" and humble lives, loving others.
perhaps we may not want to follow all sorts of rules and traditions, that is fine, as long as we beleive the truth simple that God died for us and rose again on the third day TRIUMPHANT!

make it a meaningful day in some way
other than eating candy and stuffing food into our mouths.
peace and blessings and health and happiness to all.
You are so right. Easter Christmas both have been commercialized .. But the Good News Is Jesus.. A Savior that died for the world,, To save every person in the world of all time.. God wants us all to go to heaven to be with HIM. So He Knew He would have to do something to save HIS world that HE made. So He send HIS only begotten Son, to die on a cross on a hill to shed HIS blood for all of us. God is awesome Jesus is awesome

What Qualifies You for Heaven? So many people believe they'll go to heaven when they die. Yet not many people are willing to do what it takes to get there. The Bible says in John 3: 16, that "...whosoever believes in Jesus, shall not perish but have eternal life." And in John 14: 6, Jesus...
