    How to get red nail polish off black fabric?

    I'm afraid to use nail polish remover incase it lightens the fabric.

    First try this on a small spot.  Using a Qtip, apply hand sanitizing gel...not lotion, but gel that is unscented.  It is amazing what sanitizing gel can do outside of cleaning hands.  But in some cases it can lift the dye, depending on the material.  But if all else fails, save the garment by going to your local fabric store and buy some appliques or patches that you can attach over the damage area.

    Try testing nail polish remover in a spot that no one can see, if you can. I have always had good luck with nail polish remover taking off nail polish but not removing or lightening the color of fabric. Usually it doesn't do any harm to fabric.
