How many websites/pages do you manage?
The number can include sites that you run independently or on hosted websites, such as HubPages, About and other blog and article hosts.
For example, in addition to my HubPages account I run a website/blog, Youtube channel, a niche forum and have an additional niche blog on Blogger, so 5 total right now.
I'm curious how many websites others run as well as how you manage and divide your time between the different sites. Do you feel that it's easier to make money online by having a diverse array of sites, or is it better to stick to one or two? I look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts!
I'm running about 6 different sites right now: Driving Peace, my Hubs, Facebook, 2 sites in completely different niches, Web Answers, etc.
I try to divide my time more or less evenly among the different channels, although it's hard to stay focused sometimes. I'm experimenting with "micro-tasking"...where you divide all your marketing efforts into bite-sized chunks of 10 minutes or less. Keeps the sense of overwhelm at bay.
I definitely think it's mandatory to diversify one's marketing efforts. Lots of little baskets with 2 or 3 eggs each seems to earn more money in the long run than 1 big basket.
But what do I know? ;-)
Hmm, you know I read a book on micro-tasking years ago and I always meant to try it but never got around to it! I'm going to have to do some more research into it, it sounds like a very effective way to prevent burn-out. Thanks!
I am managing 2 websites and 3 blogs of mine independently ....
and one additional this one hub pages.
At the moment i am managing 3 Blogs along with one hubpages account . I guess you need to diversify the online money sources .
I manage four blogs and also write for Squidoo and of course here at HubPages. I am also part of the Viraliti Pinterest advertising site. I divide my time during the week to pay attention to each.
That's awesome! I don't think I've heard of Viraliti, actually, how does it work?
3 blogs, this hubpages account, and a youtube channel. Then I promote my content on Facebook, Twitter, Google +, and where appropriate Pinterest. To be honest, keeping up the content promotion accounts is almost as much work as actually producing the content. I feel that a diverse array of sites is better than putting all of your eggs in one basket but boy is it hard to keep up with all of it.
I've noticed that, too! Social media networking for me takes up so much more time than writing the posts themselves, glad I'm not the only one!
great question Lana thanks - I hate this question already... lol
How many websites/pages do you manage?
I am running 8 sites - 3 to do with business, 4 with poetry, 1 with publishing, then after that is the Social;- facebook pg | facebook fan pg and the rest x 2, one each for business & poetry;- | twitter | google plus | Linkedin | Youtube...
I have 1 more in development but cannot seem to find the time to finish it.
How you manage and divide your time between the different sites.?
I am pretty reactive, I react to email, plus I am running Chrome with multiple profiles so each one I open preloads particular sites and has different bookmark bars, e.g. my poetry one has all the poetry links there on the bar, ditto for my business stuff, each different profile = a different top bar. So at a minimum I am running at least 2 profiles (plus maybe an incognito to minimise cookie follows) and then I am using Google for email (I'm a Google Authorized Partner). I am generally logged into 4 accounts so I react to the email as I see it, unless I'm very busy ;-) - as well as that I run two screens, one is big so I can split it into 2 nicely.
I have an 8x4 whiteboard, all the 'To Do's' go on the whiteboard and a 2 page a day diary and Google calendar so I'm pretty organised / structured. I try to do work work during the week and poetry at the weekend. BUT.. I have to be at the screen a lot to accomplish this all, too much probably, even l know that.
Do you feel that it's easier to make money online by having a diverse array of sites?
No - you end up meeting yourself in the door and wondering who you are, often just using the particular profile to identify yourself (to yourself) at that moment in time. Also whilst there are an awful lot of benefits with sub sites on Hubpages, Blogger and the various social media you never have enough control over design, meta tags and optimizations and you are not building core traffic to youtself. Plus like a juggler you are sort of busy trying to keep it all in the air.
is it better to stick to one or two?
Yes, no, maybe - there is no easy answer to this, in my case I must have the business sites to pay the rent, I need at least one for my poetry and then there is Hubpages, how could you do without Hubpages :-)
Wow! That is quite an impressive number of hats! It sounds like you have a pretty nice system worked out though, I might have to try some of those things myself! Thanks for the in-depth answer!

I can't seem to find an answer for this in the learning center. I have a large set of articles I've been writing for a while + some time on my hands to dedicate to Hubpages for the next couple of months. Would publishing 10 hubs a day benefit or disadvantage me, both in terms of hub score /...
