Visit and Travel to the Exotic and Beautiful Bangkok, Thailand

Updated on August 29, 2014

Visit and Travel to the Exotic and Beautiful Bangkok, Thailand

Visit and Travel to the Exotic and Beautiful Bangkok,Thailand. I had the opportunity to visit Thailand thrice, twice in Bangkok and once in Pattaya -- home of beautiful beaches. The first time I went in Thailand, I didn't have the time to roam and really visit it as I was tied to a commitment. I was attending an international conference as part of my job at the University and my travel was funded by the University and the International organization which invited me to present a research paper. I was with some colleagues who are also presenting research papers The second time I visited I had all the time to roam and see the exotic and beautiful Bangkok, my money was well worth the visit. Bangkok is a tourist haven, the food, places, sceneries and the attractions are beyond what I was expecting. It is like going to another world which you never see before like golden palaces, floating boat market, restaurants -- exotic foods, chili but good to the taste, smiles of the Thai people, safaris -- crocodiles show and I even saw some two elephants walking down the roads. Over all, Bangkok, Thailand is a place where you a mixture of old and new traditions.

Let us take a look at the government, culture and some information about Thailand

Location :

Thailand is located at the heart of southeast Asia and it is three hours away form Manila, Philippines where I came from. It is bordered to the north by Burma and Laos and to the east by Laos and Cambodia -- to the south by the Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia, and to the west by the Andaman sea and the southern extremity of Burma. Bangkok is the capital city of Thailand.

  • Government : Government is constitutional monarchy. The king is Head of State and the the Armed Forces, an Upholder of the Buddhist religion plus the Defender of all Faiths.
  • Political subdivisions : Central, East, Northeast, North, South
  • Language : Official language is Thai
  • Religion : The religion is primarily Buddhism, which is practiced by around 95% of all Thais.
  • Currency is Baht : conversion as of May 2010 is -- USD is 32.354836175 Baht
  • Economy : Thailand is considered a newly industrialized economy and its boom was from 1985 to 1995. Tourism economy and export oriented.
  • Home of many retirees and expatriates
  • Largest rice exporter in the world

Restaurants and food

  • There are restaurants everywhere in every corner. Exotic foods and soups. I love this as I love Thai soup, tom yam and Thai seafood curry, yum yum yum, and rice. Thai food is a little bit chili

Parks, Public Ground and Palaces

  • Sanam Luang is a public ground and place where many activities are held, a place wher e one can stay and just sit down and look, a beautiful place
  • Chatuchak Park -- There are linked paths, pools and legendary castles here
  • Dream world -- a beautiful amusement park

Museums

  • Royal Barges Museum -- this can be reached by boat (Chang Pier) beside the Grand Palace .
  • National museum very near the Grand Palace

The Red Light District

As an adventurer, I visited the PatPong at night, - the worlds busiest red light district where many foreigners go. I entered a place and treated with women dancing hehe and with their acrobats. I was just curious and then afterwards I went to nearby area beside the red light district and bought some wallets, don't ask me if they are authentic LOL.They are cheaper.

Visit and Travel to the Exotic and Beautiful Bangkok, Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand is a place where you can see temples (Buddhist temples) in its magnificence, parks, zoos, safaris, wild animals, museums, grand palaces, exotic foods and noodles at restaurants, shopping malls where you can buy all the items you like -- jewelries and shopping items, plus electronics -- characteristics of all South East Asia places.

Grand Palaces, Temples;

  • Royal Grand Palace is an architectural beauty and a historic landmark in Thailand, everybody sees this place when you go to Bangkok. It is a 2,5 sq. on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River -- beautiful place where you can see the golden palace and the surroundings with magnificent park to boot
  • Suan Pakkad Palace -- is a beautiful palace which houses all Asian antiques It used to be the residence of princess Chumbhot of Nagara Svarga, one of Thailand's leading art collectors and housed a mineral pottery and a garden, plus residential traditional to boot.
  • Wat Phra Kaeo (Emerald Buddha Temple) -- a place where you can see the Golden Buddha. The image is made of emerald, the Buddha is sitting down 75 centimeters (30 inches) in height.

Other Temples

  • Wat Traimit, Wat Arun, Wat Pho

Wildlife and Safaris

  • National Zoo showcasing animals like buffaloes and elephants
  • Dusit Zoo
  • Crocodile Farm which is 25 kms away from Bangkok, it is the world's largest crocodile farm with over 60,000 crocodiles on it
  • Safari World
  • Pasteur Institute where you can see Snake shows

Floating markets

  • I also went to the River Chao Praya where one can ride a boat and buy items at the floating market by the river. There are canal routes which you can follow and see different sceneries as you travel the river.

Shopping galore

  • Chinatown at Bangkok is a very big place where you can buy cheap items and shopping plus souvenirs
  • Aside from the floating markets,  MBK is the largest mall I went to. Other malls are Emporium, Siam Discovery, Siam Paragon and Central World -- largest mall in South East Asia next to Asia Mall in Manila, Philippines.

Summary

Bangkok, Thailand is a tourist haven, the food, places, sceneries and the attractions are beyond what I was expecting.

      Swadee khrap Maita,

When a pretty woman like you want to say hello to a man then she has to say Swadee kha. It is also different when saying hello to a younger person (Swadee cha).

I want to label all the pics so that people know what it is.

Yes I went to Patpong on my first trip to Bangkok with my friend who owns a Go Go bar - Nude dance bar, just to see the dance.

Situation is not good & I always go in that shopping area where all the protest are going on.

I call every weekend to get updates. Actually I will call today at 10Am to get the latest news.

Tom yam is not difficult, I know some delicious traditional recipes too but I don't like cooking.

Lifestyle in Bangkok is all based on Sanuk - Happiness, even poor people are happy in Thailand. This is what I say about Bangkok.

~Bangkok you took my heart & never gave it back.~

Enjoy rest of your weekend. Salamat

Swadee khrap Maita, In Thai it means Hello.

MUANG THAI MUANG YIM - Meaning, Thailand Land Of Smiles

Thailand is all about eating, shopping & entertainment.

Wow, Wonderful hub I don't believe it you are faster than me. You know I love Thailand, hopefully I will go to Thailand at the end of June but because of political unrest I am just waiting. I was thinking to make a hub about Thailand but problem is making titles for all those pictures. It takes too much time to make the titles.

There is so much to do in Thailand for everyone (all age groups) There are many shopping malls & markets I love to go, when I am in Bangkok.

Chatuchak is also a very big weekend flea market, Chinatown & so many malls in every area. The area I stay when I am in Bangkok is Bangkapi which 20 minutes from downtown. In Bangkapi alone there are 6 or more big malls not to mention small shopping markets.

I don't know when but hopefully soon I will make a hub too.

      Salamaat good night

I've been to Bangkok more than a couple of times and absolutely love the people. They are incredibly friendly and yes, the shopping, Maita--lots of bargains and I love mingling with the local people. I love the boat rides and how about them tuk-tuks? Ohh, the place you will go on one of those tuk-tuks. Love this hub!

Maita - you are spot on with your description if Bangkok - I've been there on four separate visits and each time found something new and amazing to explore.

The people I've met are genuine and friendly and for sightseeing, few places can match its diversity. As well as shopping! Malls and flea markets and thieves' markets at every turn. A true shopper's paradise.

I've been fascinated with "Siam" for years - which was what the country of Thailand was originally called. My friends here always want to go eat at Royal Thai. It's charming and has the ambience, though the "chili" they use here is the same a the Mexican cuisine uses - jalapeno and with a lot of ginger (which I adore) in their food - it can be a bit much. But the places you describe there - and the food! sound so delightful!!! A wonderful job of picturing it for us!

I loved everything about Bangkok - the people, the food, that giant sleeping Buddha and the 50 ton solid gold Buddha and the Temple of the Dawn and the markets. And I loved that it was 95 degrees everyday. What a great place to visit. I even thought about living there for awhile and maybe I still will. Thanks for a great hub about a great city!
