So, I got an email saying one of my articles was included on the new site. That hub does have a little bit of a  bump going right now.

I found the hub easily by clicking on the link in the email. However, when I search the site itself, I cannot find it. Even trying the actual title of the hub, I did not find it.

Just thought I would mention this.

I believe this is because the site uses a Google search.  Once the site is indexed, then the search feature will work properly.

The search now seems to be working for me now - so I assume my hubs have been indexed - probably the same for most people.

As I understand it, you can only edit the photos on your own page. If it has already been shared hundreds or thousands of times, and is on many other pages, editing the original image will not do much.

Looks nice! I noticed in the suggested links on the side-- some lead to other articles on the site and others lead to articles on HubPages.

Do we still call material on these sites 'hubs'?

  6. wilderness profile image90
    wildernessposted 8 years ago

LOL  I had given up on seeing any of mine in these sites...until I got an email today that at least one had been moved over to PetHelpful.

What??  I don't write about pets!  But the third hub I ever wrote, 6 years ago, was on an aquarium - that I grouped it in "hobbies" doesn't seem to have mattered.  A good thing, as when the "home and garden" comes along it will be most of my hubs, and I'm not sure where they were put.  If HP picks up a "hobbies" for PetHelpful, I'm probably safe!

It will be real interesting to watch the traffic over the next few months.  I see it's still listed on the "stats" page, which is great.

  7. Solaras profile image83
    Solarasposted 8 years ago

Surprise - I did not know the new site was live and harboring pet hubs until I checked my email, and I saw confirmation of this miracle.  Over half of my hubs have been moved to the new pet site. Including one that I am at war over as being unfeatured for quality - how ever did it qualify???  That amuses me.

wordscribe43posted 8 years agoin reply to this

I got an email.  But you can also go into your statistics and there is now an option to select a site.  I have a hub on Pethelpful- as such I have 2 options in my select a site menu: Hubpages and Pethelpful.  I don't have a hub on TatRing, so that option does not exist in my dropdown menu.

    Just wondering.....
Got a notification that there was a response to the hub "Common Health Problems For Pet Snakes"

When I tried to go to the hub, I got the HP pet section, but this hub has been moved to Pethelpful.
Is there a problem with going direct to the hub if you get a notification, please?

  21. Alison Graham profile image92

One of my hubs transferred to pethelpful was copied while on hubpages. I have filed DMCA and got it sorted but I remembered that hubpages said it did not have a DMCA contact for the site which had copied my hub and to let you know if I found it so it could be put on file. I went back to my hub (now on pethelpful) and clicked on the File DMCA button to find out where to send it and the button did not work. So I am reporting this as a possible bug and asking where to send the DMCA contact details to for http://www. grmseo.com (space included to avoid linking) - thank you.

    1. wilderness profile image90
wildernessposted 8 years agoin reply to this

On my carousel in the profile is a hub on how to file a DMCA, including information on how to find where to file.  Typically it does far more good to file with the host rather than the site itself.  Most thieves will ignore your request for a takedown, but most hosts will promptly cooperate.  Unless they're in China, anyway. sad

Good!  It almost always works, except for Chinese sites.  Neither the law nor the government there seems to give a flip about thieves, at least thieves stealing American work.

    1. Phyllis Doyle profile image95

I get the same thing. When I click on the link the HP Home page comes up. To go to PetHelpful I have to click on my bookmark then sign in to PetHelpful with my HP user name and password, even though I am already signed in to HP. Then I have to search for the article by guessing which group it is in.

This is very frustrating and time consuming.

Are we going to have to sign in for each niche site? Seems to me we are going to lose our community closeness and interaction with the niche sites.

      1. Jodah profile image87

I have those same concerns Phyllis. The new sites do seem very impersonal. Maybe they are meant to be like that so they are only appealing to search traffic rather than interaction of the HP community.

All of my hubs that were transferred to Pet Helpful show the warning, but not all of the time. You have all of the links. If you would like to see this for yourself, go to my Pinterest page and click on some of the Pet Helpful hubs listed under dog health. Sometimes it will lead to the site, other times the warning flag will come up.

I tried a few of your Hubs and never saw the warning, so if you have a page on Pinterest that shows it, please post the Pinterest link.

The Pinterest spam warning does not show up the first time I click through, but if I try again it will pop up. Every pin that is supposed to redirect to one of my Pethelpful articles eventually shows the warning, regardless of whether I pinned it originally or not. Links:

These are all my own pins. There are a ton more pins that are showing the same warning, but from other people on Pinterest.

I am having the same issue.  Pinterest says it blocked the link because it may lead to spam.

I have two Pinterest accounts.  When I log into the other one and try to Pin my PetHelpful hub it says there are no images to save...  Which is of course not the case.

After reading all these Pinterest posts, I'm starting to feel lucky about not having any tattoo or pet hubs. Hopefully HP can entice Pinterest to get itself straightened out before the next niche site goes up.

Hey Alison. This may be coincidence or unrelated but I just got a new tablet and experienced the same, not being able to see the HP black bar. I soon figured out that you have to click full screen and change to desktop view. I hope this helps.

PetHelpful is only showing three hubs under saltwater pets. I know there are a lot more of them because I used to be able to find them to read them. Why isn't my PetHelpful hub in the saltwater pets topic visible there? It has a hubscore of 99, it has plenty of comments, and it's getting decent views.

Using only three hubs on a topic page won't do anything but make the site look sparse.

I can't even find my hub by clicking through all the pages on the aquarium topic.

Are you sure those hubs were moved to Pet Helpful, and are not still located at HubPages?

Yes. My hub has PetHelpful in its URL now and I was browsing the Aquarium topic on PetHelpful just yesterday when I saw all the other hubs in the same topic. All but three are gone from the subtopic page, Saltwater Pets, today.

It will be automatically transferred if HP chooses it for that site. It will stay on the general HP site if they prefer to keep it there.

Just a note to people on pethelpful. Not only mine but a number of Hubs are not able to be shared properly if people are trying to share with the facebook button, it just drops a link to the site with no picture or article title, just a link. So be aware and I hope the team is looking into that.

  41. janderson99 profile image52
    janderson99posted 8 years ago

Could I suggest that a permanent solution to the Pinterest issue is to change the source URL to a direct link to Pethelpful page. This is easy to do but time consuming. Many of the redirections concern links to subdomain pages (2-stage 301's)

    1. janderson99 profile image52
janderson99posted 8 years agoin reply to this

A quick check of the examples listed above shows that there are still problems with the links that use the old subdomain URLs. The link failure is irregular. As I suggested it is probably worth changing all the links to Pethelpful ones, but this does not fix all the re-pins that generate a lot of traffic.
