Hubpages is HUGELY hypocritical for allowing endless promotion of products on Amazon and endless Adsense links AND YET WE CAN'T PROMOTE OUR OWN WEBPAGES.  It's an outrage and it's an oppressive tactic to suppress new businesses and entrepreneurs.  Post hear if you agree and want to express your dissent!  WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PROMOTE OURSELVES AS WE PLEASE.  FREE EXPRESSION!

You can absolutely promote your own website, as long as you do so within the rules (some common violations are clarified at http://hubpages.com/hub/Overly-Promotional).  We are a free service, but not a free-for-all service.  If you want to publish something not allowed by our terms (adult subjects, gambling, duplicate content with links, etc), there are plenty of other venues where you can do so.

Yes you can - who told you that you couldn't?

There is nothing to stop you putting a link to your website on your profile.  There's also nothing to stop you putting a link to your website in a Hub.  What you can't do is put several links to your website in the same Hub - which is unnecessary anyway. If your article does a good job of "selling" the purpose of your site, you only need one link, you don't need to beat people over the head by repeating it over and over.

      lol

      Here is a suggestion -

Read the instruction book before using it smile  None of the hubpages rules are a secret and if you had taken a few minutes to look at them you would not have wasted your time, which is I assume what you are really upset about?

Free expression? That is what the rest of the internet is for. You are free to try selling your garbage along with all the other millions selling the same rubbish.

Did HubPages threaten to chop off your hands if you promoted yourself?

Actually, the link rules are there to stop newbie "up and coming millionaires with an awesome business to promote" from spamming on the site. LOL

Just to remind to those who never thought about it - Hubpages is a private enterprise and free to set and enforce any rules at its own discretion. If you don't like the place, you are free to leave. smile

The rules are created so that we all have a pleasant platform, to work in.
However if you write your hubs correctly you can direct the readers to sites that you want them to go to, and they have the joice, without that in your face spamming roll
You actually, do have the choice to have Amazon adds and Google ads on your hubs, you dont activate them!

You are free to start your own blog and do whatever you wish.

HubPages is free and they definitely have the right to set whatever rules they want

And also, I was under the impression that HubPages was a site for writers not for new businesses and entrepreneurs...

That's not what internet marketers are telling their students.  That's not what any number of youtube videos say about hubpages.  To everybody but, well, it seems a minority, Hubpages is a place for marketing your clickbank products, your newest MLM and getting those high quality backlinks to your shoddy 10 buck website.

    Dear Nickny79.

In your profile you say that you are a great believer in the law of attraction.

I'm interested to know precisely what you intend to attract with your totally over the top tirade (which is totally devoid of any factual content)

And I would hope that you do a bit more research before wading into your other causes with your eyes glowing and guns blazing. And you say you are in the legal profession ?? OMG.

I'm impressed to see that you are a B.A., M.A, and soon to be a JD.

I hereby bestow on you another title: D.H.

(I'll leave you to brush up on your research skills to work out what THAT means.)

    Gotta love the freedom fighters!

She or he are breaking Godwin's law though - they should have mentioned this is a Nazi site for not allowing them to promote their website roll

I'm here to promote my sites (well, and other reasons, but that too). I am not here to produce spam about my websites or to spam HP with my links - big difference.

That is not spamming, but an occasion notification on my part of an EXCELLENT hub.  The spammers on those who publish a 10 word hub evey half hour ---which I don't do.
