      Probably on Squidoo or Infobarrel!

However, without HubPages, I doubt I would have got up the nerve to start my own websites, so I think I would be a lot further behind than I am now with my online endeavours.

I have been on IB, and never had this community feeling over there. Same with squidoo(although not a member but I've checked that place thoroughly). So I am sure you would've got bored of them.

i would simply never write at all.  i remember before i joined hubpages, i used to write film reviews for fun, but i was going to stop doing that, as i was starting to see it as a waste of time.  then when i saw hubpages, i thought it was an interesting way to make money.  however, i did gain a lot more than that though from hubpages, as i met a lot of good people here.  many of which hardly ever log on anymore, but still good people nonetheless.

however, to answer your question, i'd probably just watch tv or waste my time playing games during my free time.

I started a blog about a month before I discovered Hubpages. It would probably be dead right now, I probably wouldn't have just handed in my resignation and I'd probably not be preparing to write my book right now either.

So hubpages did change your life to some extent?

      1. WryLilt profile image88
WryLiltposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Definitely. I was always too scared to get into making my own websites and knew nothing about how to make them work.

Hubpages was an easy stepping stone into learning about things like keywords, backlinks, traffic and SEO which has given me an amazing amount of new knowledge in the last year.

Manny hubbers have written hubs on improving your search engine rankings including me. Use the search feature.

But let me assure you one thing, it is really a hard job ranking your blogspot blogs and blog-posts as compared to your hubs.

I would have been unable to pick myself up from the threats of sadness as a widowed retired teacher living alone at home away from my only family, my 2 daughters working in a distant place. HP opens for me a world of opportunities to become human- living with and loving others in my little room.

I probably would have given up writing online and would have gone back to penning stories by hand in notebooks.  Actually, I have been rediscovering the joy of that lately anyway.

I think I would also sew more.  I'm sure I would have an esty account, teaming with baby quilts and other accessories.

I probably would have still continued to write for this academic writing site (which I quit last December) and probably focusing more on eLance. And I would probably still be looking for a place like HP where I can write what I want when I want smile.

  13. IzzyM profile image86

I've no idea where I would be.
I was looking for a job online and fell on this after spending hours filling out forms for advertising companies - which should have  been easy except with me being in Spain they kept sending the dmn things in Spanish!
So it took me twice as long as I had to actually read the questions and translate them in my head first.
I'm not sure how I stumbled across HP. I don't even know if there is someone above me claiming earning rights.
But when I saw this site, I knew I'd found a home smile

hmm, I wouldn't be writing a hub about why I love HP!

I have no idea, I may be like the other hubber who mentioned having an awesome farm! I neglected mine to the end that it is probably dead to the point of no return. In fact, I think I deleted Farmville.

or maybe I would be working harder on my first children's book, of which I'm also working on in between life's pause.

I came across HP while I was looking for information for a website business I was trying to get off the ground. I wish I had found HP first I wouldn't be $10,000 in debt and not have any money to finish what is needed for the business. I have yet to publish but find a lot of interesting reading here. I don't have a profile here yet so probably better get working on one.

Don't like Squidoo much, plus they are stingy IMHO. Made in 1 whole year less than what i make in 1 day at HP.

There is no helpful community like you'll find here at HP. The people here are so helpful, it's awesome. You learn something new EVERY day. And as you put it to practice, you see positive results, always.

If you are where people can teach you and show you the ropes, that's where you'll progress faster and probably get successful.

I have to say its hard to image that I wouldn't have found it another day if I had not found it the day I did, or had not signed up first visit I probably would have after finding several articles hosted here. i guess if I literally had not found HP it would have been because I was not looking for ways to earn money online (I started with blogging for money and when I realised I had no clue what I was doing I found HP! I guess I would be at a day job or watching telly, such a full and rich tapestry to the life of that alternate me! lol
