Anyone else see the TV PSA about a national test of some sort to be aired on All TV and Radio stations on Nov 9Th?
They Emphatically keep saying"This will be just a Test"over and over, then they say"Spread this information"...something just raised a flag in me for some reason.
I've never heard of a national emergency preparedness test,or any other national test of all TV and radio stations before.
What do Y'all think here, could there be something unprecedented about to happen on Nov 9Th?
If you know something about this Please enlighten the rest of us...
Yes, I received the information over my Internet provider also. They say this will be the first national test and should last about 2 minutes. All cable and tv will be suspended for about 2 minutes and should come right back. If it doesn't, they say to channel up or down or repower your tv.
Here is the government website on the nationwide test:
http://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/emergen … nwide-test
Looks like FEMA wants to test a national EAS. I suspect the zombie apocalypse will be upon us shortly.
It's so they can install the new technology which allows the government, using your TV, to monitor your in-home actions and comments. Be afraid, be very afraid. The only way you can prevent this installation is to make sure your TV is tuned to the Cartoon Network thereby tricking the government into thinking they're monitoring themselves.
LOL
Good advice, I would think!
But, to be honest, I'm with cheaptrick in that it raises a flag...
OMG are you all serious? They can't monitor you if you pull the plug on your tv. It's like the cold war and the Hollywood communist conspiracy all over again.
I can see a bunch of CIAs sitting in a room playing cards and watching me watch tv.
Wouldn't bother me in the least. Every time I set down to watch a little TV I fall asleep.
For years now all TV manufacturers have been required to include a nuclear battery in the TV that will operate the secret surveillance system for at least a week. Those cameras and microphones never shut off at all.
They are now installing a secret olfactory testing device that is smelling your breath on a continuous basis looking for booze and marry j wanna.
The CIA is now working on a nano robot - thousands will be fit into your TV and come out at night, searching the house for contraband.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
Hmmm wonder if I can re-program these nano-bots to go and get me a beer when I need one - all the kids have moved out and I have to get up off the couch myself!
Why not? After all kids hacked into defense computers and sent missiles to Russia - surely you can do a simple re-program. Might even get them to clean the carpet once a week!
Aha - that's exactly what they want you to think - only the shopping channels will stop the invasion LOL!
They want to see what happens as power consumption spikes as every household in America switches on the kettle to make a cup of coffee during those 2 minutes..
You may also discover of course that your partner that you have not looked at in the last six months due to the TV is already a Zombie...
Well, today's the day.At two PM something or nothing is going to happen.I don't see why[considering how strapped the Govt is for cash]there is a need for a nation wide emergency alert system.
Emergencies have, throughout our history, always been local. In my long time on this planet I've never even heard of a National emergency.
I went to the Govt web site in the link above and clicked on the video PSA link there...It blew me off the net,and this here computer is top of the line new.Maybe it's something that my technopeasant brain doesn't understand or maybe not.
Here's the thing,I cant conceive of a need for this"Test"to shut down the net,and it probably, hopefully wont...but if it does, some thing evil this way comes for sure.
Hope to see you all here at two 0 two this afternoon.
Dean...
I really have a strong feeling that this is an omen at the very least. It gives Someone the ability to instantly reach into everyone's life at once and dictate"What to do".Hmmm, conspiracy theories anyone?
I must say,I was beggining to think this red flag was all in my head But,...80 some minutes after the above post I came across a hub while hub hopping by HIGNITEFILES that freaked me out and stood the hair up on the back of my neck!It is not an opinion hub, factual, factual, factual and If your one who can connect the dots I believe it will freak you out as well.
Just in case,I'd like to wish all well and God[if there is one]bless you and keep you safe.I'll be spending the day at my"Vacation"home so if all goes well...see ya soon.
Dean
Yesterday after I read this post, I hurriedly checked out the Hub mentioned here, but I did not make a permanent note of the incident that Hignite referred to.
So - just now, I tried to check it out to find more data that I could research elsewhere. To see whether the reported incident was truly "factual, factual, factual."
The Hub is no longer there. Does anyone know or remember the name of the serviceman who was mentioned in the Hub, the one who sent the e-mail?
Well, I learned, not surprisingly, that the Hub was duplicate content - the Hubber's own work, but published elsewhere. I found it elsewhere online, so I was able to reread it and can follow it in future, if there's any reason for doing so.
I can see a valid reason to have the ability to nationally broadcast an emergency. I hadn't heard of this test, but it doesn't bother me in the least.
The reports I have heard or read say that this system has been in place for a long time, but it just has never been tested in this way before. No problem there.
A national warning system has some good possible uses, but I honestly don't like the language that was used on the radio this morning: this system essentially gives the President of the US the ability to "commandeer" all radio and TV broadcasting.
I don't care who the president is - Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Clinton, either Bush, or anyone else - I don't like the idea of the president "commandeering" the media.
I'm not sure I mind the president being able to commadeer the t.v. He's the first that will know when something really serious is going to happen.
I'd rather hear "Bend over and kiss your but goodbye" rather than "You should have bent over five minutes ago"
I'm not so sure that the Prez will be the first to know, but I do agree that it's his or her responsibility to communicate the information to the country. But is the act of commandeering really the only way to accomplish that? Stations now do tend to break-in to their regularly scheduled programming for breaking news, press conferences, etc.
And (as was mentioned elsewhere) - what about people who are on the internet or who are otherwise not tuned in to TV or radio? They are still going to have to get the message in some other manner.
It's the language that bothers me. Commandeering is something that I associate with despotism.
The major broadcasting networks do. Since I watch Sprout, Disney, and PBS when the T.V. is on (children's programming)- I would likely miss any major news story.
(unless Canada decides to attack during Walking Dead)
Wow, this could be a rather creepy attempt by the government to "own" the system, or it could be a simple test of the system already in place, but it is scary all the same. I, for one, don't like the fact that the Nation needs to test a system that will take everything off line for 2 minutes. WHY? I think we need to get together and...and...and...well there must be something we can do. Maybe we should...I know, let's go visit the Wizard of Oz, he'll know what to do for us, if he doesn't get lost with his balloon again. Just kidding. I wanted to try to lighten the mood a bit, because this thread is a bit scary when you really think about it.
Test is apparently over - hooray. No sinister takeover messages, no military coup, no obvious blows to freedom and independence.
Whew.
Am interesting thought. I don't remember them ever doing it this before.
This is the first time they had the capacity to send a national syncronised message.

How does Obama have time to campaign and be on TV with so many issues going on?I've just been wondering how Obama allocates his time between business and campaigning. With turmoil overseas and problems in the U.S, I get a little upset seeing Obama on the Late Night Show or on TV shows. I'm thinking...

I am so sick and tired of the push by the Biden administration to force student loan forgiveness on the American taxpayers, many of whom did not go to college and now must pay the debts.I think we're ALL being duped. The kids, the taxpayers, and the ones who are getting off Scott free are the...

US President Barack Obama would be granted powers to seize control of and even shut down the internet under a new bill that describes the global internet as a US "national asset".Local lobby groups and academics have rounded on the plan, saying that, rather than combat terrorists, it...
