I told you two of my daughters are in the hospital - the middle one and the youngest. The youngest had to have her appendix out Tuesday, on her 30th birthday. I think she's coming home today. Daughter #2 has a kidney infection/pyelonephritis, but they were unable to identify the bacteria until yesterday. It's a rare type of e. coli and does not respond to any oral antibiotics. They had to put a port in her aorta in order to deliver the drugs. They want to keep her for 14 more days, but she has 4 little kids and doesn't want to stay in the hospital that long. I think she's worried about her job, too. I think they're going to release her soon and have home health come to do the drug thing. Since she's a nurse, they're considering allowing her to do the job herself, though.

My knee/meniscus surgery went fine - except for my reaction to the anesthesia. It took them a while to get me under, and when I woke up, I was extremely nauseous and felt like I was on fire. They knew I had this problem with general anesthesia, so they had given me Zofran, pepcid injections, a scopolamine patch, and phenergan. None worked. When I couldn't stop heaving and vomiting, they gave me a phenergan suppository. After a couple of hours, most of the nausea passed. I came home before noon yesterday, and I'm walking with a walker. There's not much pain when I don't have to move, but walking and getting up and down are both very painful. By the way, they couldn't repair either menisci in my right knee, so they removed the damaged parts. I have this neat wrap on my leg that's hooked to a cooler of ice water. The cold water is pumped into the wrap and circulates around my knee. Hubby is trying to figure out how to use it as a bait bucket. Men! lol

Please keep us in your thoughts/prayers - especially daughter #2, as pyelonephritis can be fatal in extreme cases. Don't forget our guys, either. They're having to take care of us!

Hi Habee - The men in your lives and God - may they take care of you and bless you. Tell your one daughter to take care of herself first. We all worry about everybody else. It's a woman thing. Glad she is a nurse. Our prayers are with you and your families.  smile))) Hugs

    Wow!
    Hope all heal up well.
I surely understand your daughter's concern for her kids. Is she a nurse in the same hospital she is in? I would hope they would support her to get well and not worry about her job!
    Keep up your great spirit.
    Still sending prayers your way.

No, she works in a doctor's office. The daughter with appendicitis works in the hospital where both daughters are patients, however.

There is nothing as powerful as prayers. And they are now coming from different parts of the world. You will all get well soon.

Well, that sounds generally terrifying. Do they know how she got it?

Yes. It's kinda gross, though. They think she had diarrhea and some of it splashed up from the toilet onto her urethra.
