I told you two of my daughters are in the hospital - the middle one and the youngest. The youngest had to have her appendix out Tuesday, on her 30th birthday. I think she's coming home today. Daughter #2 has a kidney infection/pyelonephritis, but they were unable to identify the bacteria until yesterday. It's a rare type of e. coli and does not respond to any oral antibiotics. They had to put a port in her aorta in order to deliver the drugs. They want to keep her for 14 more days, but she has 4 little kids and doesn't want to stay in the hospital that long. I think she's worried about her job, too. I think they're going to release her soon and have home health come to do the drug thing. Since she's a nurse, they're considering allowing her to do the job herself, though.
My knee/meniscus surgery went fine - except for my reaction to the anesthesia. It took them a while to get me under, and when I woke up, I was extremely nauseous and felt like I was on fire. They knew I had this problem with general anesthesia, so they had given me Zofran, pepcid injections, a scopolamine patch, and phenergan. None worked. When I couldn't stop heaving and vomiting, they gave me a phenergan suppository. After a couple of hours, most of the nausea passed. I came home before noon yesterday, and I'm walking with a walker. There's not much pain when I don't have to move, but walking and getting up and down are both very painful. By the way, they couldn't repair either menisci in my right knee, so they removed the damaged parts. I have this neat wrap on my leg that's hooked to a cooler of ice water. The cold water is pumped into the wrap and circulates around my knee. Hubby is trying to figure out how to use it as a bait bucket. Men! lol
Please keep us in your thoughts/prayers - especially daughter #2, as pyelonephritis can be fatal in extreme cases. Don't forget our guys, either. They're having to take care of us!
Hi habee,
It is heartening to hear all these but the good thing is that all is getting better and will get better. I remember your family in my tonight prayers and i hope and believe all will be fine. Wishing you and your family quick recovery.
Hi Habee - The men in your lives and God - may they take care of you and bless you. Tell your one daughter to take care of herself first. We all worry about everybody else. It's a woman thing. Glad she is a nurse. Our prayers are with you and your families. ))) Hugs
Wow!
Hope all heal up well.
I surely understand your daughter's concern for her kids. Is she a nurse in the same hospital she is in? I would hope they would support her to get well and not worry about her job!
Keep up your great spirit.
Still sending prayers your way.
Here is to the support of the men in your family and to the even speedier recovery of you Holle, and your two daughters.
Prayers and love continuing to come your way.
All of you - concentrate on getting healthy. The rest will work itself out.
There is nothing as powerful as prayers. And they are now coming from different parts of the world. You will all get well soon.
Bless your heart... (I feel old for saying that). Here I was acting like my cold was the plague. I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts and pray for speedy recoveries all around!
Well, that sounds generally terrifying. Do they know how she got it?
I hope you are all well again very soon. Prayers are coming your way.
Keeping you and the family at the top of my prayer list, Habee -- glad your surgery went well and hope you're soon past the painful part of recovery.
Praying for you and yours for a speedy total recovery. God Bless all the girls and all the men.

Dang. We need to buy stock in our local hospital. Hubby got out of CCU just a couple of weeks ago, my son-in-law had to have an appendectomy last week, and two of my daughters are there now. One has been admitted for pyelonephritis, and the other has been in the ER for seven hours with severe...

In what is absolutely the LAST thing I and what family I have left need to hear at this point in time - my father is back in the hospital with sepsis. He's been fighting an infection in the bones of his foot for ten years now, he is severely diabetic...and they're finally going to amputate his...

Earlier this evening, my daughter went to the ER because she was having terrible stomach cramps. When I arrived, she was in a hospital bed holding a dead baby. It was a perfectly formed, beautiful baby girl, about 10 inches long. I didn't even know she was pregnant. We're all heartbroken. I can't...

Yesterday we went to the Oncologist. She has been fighting for her life since October 2009. They reviewed her scans and her tumors metasticized on her liver and there is a small lesion on her kidney. She now has tumors in both lungs, but they say her colon, breast, and brain are clear. When the...
