Well I've seen a lot of new hubbers asking for some advice on how to become reasonably successful on hubpages. so I recently published a hub to help out.

    here it is: http://hubpages.com/hub/hubpagessuccess

I also figured that everybody else who has written a similar hub could post it here so newcomers could have a wealth of information to work with.

So I'm wondering if any new hubbers have been helped by this thread so far?

I agree with everyone - this is a very well written article.  It leaves out nothing.  Great job.

It is also worth checking out darkside's hubs - he has a great selection on making the software work for you.

I FINALLY got an understanding of how Squidoo lens work, I have to admit when I first went there I was totally lost, but now I can knock one out pretty good.

My next project is learning about Hub pages as they are getting a lot of attention on different marketing forums.

Learning from Collegepolitico, Darkside and will read your page.

Thanks to all who help us to understand these socialweb2.0 strategies.

      Thanks!

(I need to post more interesting content, starting with my new travel page)

I'm just setting up my hub page and saved it but didn't publish it yet. I'm still logged in, but I can 't find my way back to my page so I can add links and finish it for publication. Help.

Ok just click on the "my account" tab (make sure the "statistics" option is highlighted) and then click on the hub you were working on and then simply click on the "edit" button at the top of the hub. That should do it for you.

The "my account" tab is like your command center. you can find most of what you need there.

  9. College politico profile image61

    did it work?

Can I edit a hub AFTER I've published it?

    1. College politico profile image61
College politicoposted 16 years agoin reply to this

Yes. Just visit the hub (make sure you're signed in) and then click on the edit button at the top of it. Then when you're done editing click the done editing button (also at the top of the hub)

Yea I'd like to see some other more experienced hubbers post their helpful hubs... I know there are a lot out there.

That being said I think we have a pretty quality listing of helpful hubs.

Collegepolitico on your hub you talk about backlinking
can you please explain backlinking and how to ?

You mention placing one's links in comments do you mean like this:

        Like this?

And when you say "comments" I assume you are talking about going to Squidoo lens, or here on Hub, or Blogs and leaving a masked link in the comment??

        Just trying to understand.

BTW what is a "permalink" and how does one learn to do that?

        Thank you!!!

Great info, I think I missed this thread first time round.

This should be a 'sticky' on the forum so that it doesn't get buried.

    Is that not possible Hubpages?

    1. College politico profile image61
College politicoposted 16 years agoin reply to this

Unfortunately there isnt anything like that yet. If you're feeling really strongly you may want to email the team... maybe if there was enough support they would make some threads sticky?

        Just thinking further on this.

There was a thread a few weeks ago regarding the need for a FAQ page.

Maybe one answer would be a FAQ Forum.

It could be locked and only for admin use to throw in useful threads such as this one (i.e. sort out the wheat from the chaff) into a read only forum at their discretion, or if prompted by hubbers. Admin could also change the topic title to better reflect the thread content if need be before it gets moved over to a FAQ forum.  A link could be added to the FAQ forum from the homepage too - one of the problems for new hubbers (or was it just me?) is that it takes a while to find your way around the site and you don't realise that much of the information on how HubPages works is actually found in individual hubs!

Just suggestions .. sorry if I got carried away .. hmm

I wrote a hub, beginners guide to successful hubpage writing, after my first 12 days of hubbing sharing my experiences:

    http://hubpages.com/hub/_retrotech/Begi … ge-Writing

I then wrote PART 2 after 3 weeks of Hubbing - you can pick up the link for this from the first hub.  I'm still here after 2 months and may write part 3 soon.  These hubs attracted loads of comments, some of which provide useful additional info from experienced hubbers.

Hope this helps - keep on Hubbing!

Looks like the link above is broken. The tracker code must go before the "hub":

Actually I think thats a good suggestion. Very interesting idea. The main problem with seeing any development on this front at the moment is that the hubpages team is very busy with other improvements and with the hublove contest... Maybe in the future though

If Maddie could make a thread with a list of the best hubs on hubbing and sticky it, that'd be great.

She'd have the ability to edit her own posts in the first post of the thread and add new stuff.
