HubMetrics Question

   Hi, folks,
   
   I'm fairly confident in my voice as a writer, so I'm not so much worried about the quality of my hubs' content (though any constructive criticism is welcome). What I wonder about, though, is the row of dollar signs in the HubMetrics panel of each hub's stats.
   
   How is the revenue potential calculated? Is it about accurate? Do hubs with high $$$$ ratings consistently get more clickthroughs than ones with low ratings? Is it content-driven at all? Or is it search-driven?
   
   Does adding more Amazon links help earnings or hurt? What about Kontera and/or eBay affiliate accounts?
   
   I'd appreciate any advice on what I can do to enhance my hubs' earning potential.

      You can't calculate your own revenue? Huh?  If you're speaking about hub ratings versus money making, well, monetary gains has nothing to do with numeric ratings/scores when it comes to click-throughs and/or making money...  I would hope you're seeking and gearing yours hubs toward the potential of having lots of search engine traffic, and nothing more, if money is all you're thinking about......

      Those $$$ signs make little sense to me in terms of interpreting them to mean any kind of value.
      
      My understanding is that they are relative to some formula that HP concocts.  The more $ signs, the more potential revenue. Whatever that means.
      
      I have found that my Hubs with fewer $ signs often generate the most revenue. A rabbit hat trick by HP?
      
      But this is a site that is growing and developing, and one of the pleasures here is not knowing why your Hubs generate revenue. So that's a challenge that makes you want to do more.
      
      Just keep producing your quality Hubs, read all you can that Hubbers here have written about generating revenue, and have a blast.

      HubMetrics is just a vague suggestion or idea of potential, and not a guarantee or solid representation of anything.  It's sort of like asking for directions and having the person you ask vaguely point and say "over there."  It can give you some general aim, but it's not a map.
      
      If you want stats that offer truly useful info, use Analytics.

      Having a high $$$ rating does not cause anything to happen.  It's just a HubPages opinion of the commercial potential of your Hub.  I suspect it's based on keywords or tags.
      
      
      
      If you're writing on a subject and you can see that someone inspired by it would want to buy a product from Amazon, then an Amazon capsule will help your earnings. 
      
      If you're writing on a subject and use an Amazon ad that's only vaguely related to it, it could hurt your earnings, because a pretty Amazon capsule could tempt a reader away from an Adsense ad which better meets their needs.
      
      Relache has had great success with Kontera but few other people have.
      
      You can't get an eBay account through HubPages - only people who have an eBay account on their own website can use their ID here.

   I think it might be or at least have a correlation to your keyword density.

      Perhaps it does. It might also have a correlation to numbers of words in your Hub, Google trends, or the color of your PJs.

   Hm.  Umm...
   
   So I've been here for 10 months and I have no idea what you're talking about.  Where do I see these $$$$ signs?  Are my hubs so ridiculously low in earnings potential that they don't have $$ signs or am I missing something?

      You can see the $$$ signs by clicking "stats" at the top of one of your Hubs and then clicking the "Hub Metrics" tab.
      
      Don't feel bad, William, I was here for two years before I knew that.
      
      Now, if someone at HP would tell me why "edit", "stats", and "delete" are all lower case while the tabs are upper case, my OCD would feel much better.
