If you'd been a prosyletizing Catholic, Mormon, Jew or any other
"orthodox" religion, the military would have evicted you from their ranks, but be a radical muslim, such as Major Nidal
Malik Hasan and instead of providing therapy to PTSD soldiers, you can spend your time trying to convince them they're infidel dogs, and converse with radical Imams connected to 9/11 and no one so much as raises an eyebrow. For if you do - OMG! You're that most dreaded of beings- A (gasp!) PROFILER!
Guess what? Police, FBI, profile for a reason. If you're looking for a serial killer attacking young, beautiful women, you don't start running background checks on 80 year old female parapalegics, you look for young to middle age WHITE males. Racial profiling, yes, though you'll never hear anyone calling it that. Most likely suspect, also yes. Face it, their is a valid profile for radical islamic terrorists and Hasan filled it to a T. But it was worth anyones' job to say so. And people died because of that.
Everyone profiles and stereotypes everyone because it is a natural mental reaction. We still retain instincts but cover them with will, determination, and knowledge(most of the time). Profiling and stereotyping feeds off of our original reaction to something else alive, to run or fight. This is why females get nervous seeing say a large black or white male in a parking lot late at night with no one else around. Its why they creep backwards, its a way to stay alive/safe etc. Its all basics and thats why no matter how much learning you get you always profile or stereotype before you get to know them.

Hi, I can never understand why is it as you say we seem to be so ingratiating to Muslims? if a hindu did something or christian etc we would all be treated the same, I always think that if this was 70 years ago, would winston churchill have said to every German living in england, oh that's fine of you go dearie! don't think so!
The American military is a major force in promoting Christian religions, not restraining them.
When I was in Marine boot camp Sunday mornings were the only "free-time" periods we had. But remember, freedom is not free.
With our four hours of time we had a few choices, letter writing, newspaper reading, or church. Just to get out of the barracks most marched off, including myself a few times, to services, which are split up amongst the several denomonations.....for non-Christians there wasn't anything available....
Prayer to the Christian God was a required part of numerous ceremonies, and there was no choice to participate or not....we were ordered to bow our heads and pray, and we had to...
When I wanted to see a psychologist to ask some questions I was stonewalled for three weeks, until a "emergency evaluation" concocted by my 1st sergeant sent me to a psychiatrist.....which had nothing to do with the information I was seeking....and leaving black mark against me, since rumors then spread around that I had threatened to kill people in my company....something that was ludicrous, and maliciously spread around with the support of this same 1st sergeant.
Up til that travesty of a meeting with the psychiatrist the only person that I was sent to see was my battalion chaplain, who was of course a Protestant Christian and approached me through the Bible.
I had issues with a personal relationship at the time, and the Bible was not going to help me.
I was a professed non-Christian, but saw the cross and Jesus being promoted all over the place....and I felt bad for Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists who have to live and work amongst many people who have no desire to understand them, and get a kick out of beating other people down, physically or emotionally....
I served on many bases across this nation, and even in the Pacific, but the one constant was the reminders of Christian church services every week, the forced prayers, and the directing to Christian religious counselors when all I wanted was some good old secular interaction....
Racism is widespread in the military, as is sexism and religious intolerance....if you want to discuss this further you know where to reach me.

Yeah sorry, I fell into my own trap there, the trouble in England is that the government come up with all sorts of things to cause trouble, in reality over here we tend to get on just fine. Even Muslims in this county get mad because of the stupidity of the government and do gooders, most of them just like the rest of us just want to get on with our lives. apologies. Nell

You might wanna ask george dubye about that.
The answer, so far at least, is 13.
The Profiling of Terror suspects is highly problematic. Terror suspects do not fit into say a psychopathic profile of say a serial killer or serial sex offender. More often than not terror attacks are related to a(legitimate of otherwise) protest over the repeated failure of a political system. Not to a personal character or psychological flaw.
To barryrutherford, you skip something when you say profiling terrorists is problematic, maybe I left it out, Radical Islamic Terrorists, no one ever wants to use those first two words anymore when talking terrorism. Heck, they're even trying to get away without saying the "terrorism" part. But once you put all three together, profiling becomes less "problematic."
If you can cite a single case of a soldier, sailor, airman, or marine who has been kicked out of the U.S. military for being a Catholic, Jew, or Mormon, your post may have a small shred of validity.
Because you can't, it's just more of the same right-wing nonsense that keeps Fox News afloat. The assertion being put forward by the wackiest of the conservatives, that political correctness caused the slaughter at Fort Hood is despicable. People who advocate and implement violence as a solution to their frustrations with a free society are much more likely to be socially conservative than "pc".

Which makes you a terrorist.

Oddly enough, there is the Troll that follows him around.
That sounds like another personal attack. I will give you the benefit of the doubt though. I gather now that you were denied an education as a young person - and this has left you with a rather large chip on your shoulder - so maybe you could ask one of the better educated members like Lita to explain what "bigot" means ?
Then maybe you would stop mis-using this word. Eventually - she will be able to teach you the real meaning of all sorts of interesting words.
Good luck with your education. ![]()

I AM LAUGHING.
At your expense I might add.........
Did you ask Lita what the big words meant yet?
Look, a bag of hair
