Gracie's Jiu-Jitsu in UFC
71The complete fighting discipline...
The Ultimate Fighting Championship is indeed drawing raves all over the world, thanks to its steady growing followers.
The UFC’s popularity has soared for the past few years. The excitement generated by this very taxing sport considered by many as brutal is enormous and its induced entertainment reverberates through the veins of fight conscious audience.
In this sport each fighter can use any forms of martial arts whether it could be karate, judo, taekwondo, boxing, kickboxing and wrestling and the use of fist, feet, elbow and knee (but not head) are allowed. One will be declared winner by way of submission or unanimous decision.
Stealth is essential here, as offensive and defensive skills in the arsenal of each gladiator are exploited to the hilt to make them competitive, enduring and successful in every fight they're engaged with.
It is an irony that an intense and a full-contact sport like that of the UFC which has only few prohibitions (unlike that of the professional boxing where gloves are worn) is considered safer by many enthusiasts of this sport. According to them this nonstop full combat sports enables each fighter to be very protective and defensive yet always ready to strike at will with lethal offensive blow. UFC combats usually doesn’t last the distance and the duration of most of the fight is usually shorter than that of boxing (a sports that claimed handful of lives already).
The famous "octagon" the arena where UFC combatants squares off in this bloody cage.

The UFC will not be as popular now without its past sentinels like six foot one Royce Gracie, the sports ultimate gladiator in the earlier development stages of the bloody UFC, where Gracie usually outlast, outwit and outfight his bigger and heftier opponents.
Gracies’s deep and wide array of tactics can smother his foes by employing his potent controlled hand-to-hand combat techniques, which is tailored by his UFC Hall of Famer father for people who are not that strong, yet agile, fast, coordinated or even large (Royce tips the scale at about 75 kgs while his father was 140 kgs.).
Gracie-jiu-jitsu which is now one of the most commonly utilized martial in the realms of the UFC and originally was intended to be a self-defense technique rather than for battering people better. This martial art is devised for average man who takes good care of his physique and health, while saying “I’m not ready to get into a street fight,” quips Royce brother Rorian.
This consummate fighting tactic is better than the other fighting discipline like karate, boxing and kickboxing because it is effective even in real-life combat situations. Ninety-five percent (95%) of all real fights are found in the ground and jiu-jitsu is the most versatile and the only self-defense system that equips you with ground grappling techniques in your fighting warchest, which is vital but always taken for granted aspect of any real fight.

I was and am still a huge fan of Royce Gracie. The UFC certainly owes him a great deal of gratitude for being such a respected and feared champion. Thanks for sharing this!
