   What does this recent polling say about Trump supporters?
   
   Using polling from Public Policy and YouGov, the New York Times has reported an analysis of Trump voters. Here is a breakdown of those who support Trump:
   33.3% of South Carolina Trump supporters would like to bar gays and lesbians from entering the United States.
   20% believe that slaves should not have been freed after the Civil War.
   33.3% agreed with the internment of Japanese during World War II.
   70% still want to see the Confederate flag flying over government buildings in their state.

   I have never been asked to participate in a poll, and I find polls and people that follow polls actually conforming to the poll results. When you take a measurement of an electrical circuit you have to use a device that doesn't become part of the circuit, otherwise you adversely affect the reading from that device.
   That is what I believe happens with polls. There are too many people that are part of the herd. They are led by the media and the poll takers.
   
   That is why the poll results are close, but it is also a sign that people are manipulated rather than independent thinkers.
   
   I see it here on hp with people quoting the media line without ever checking the veracity of the statements.
   
   Since the creation of cable news 24-7, the news went from reporting the news to spinning the news event. Loyal party voters have become more loyal and they act more like rooting for their local sports team than trying to select people to represent them running the country.
   
   Looking at poll results to make decisions is like trying to buy packaged foods that cannot be seen until you use them. You have clumped all of these opinions based on polls we haven't seen the actual ?s they are based on, nor have we seen the demographics, and places where the polls were taken?
   
   Take the old commercial of "4 out of 5 doctors recommend brand X". This statement is so froth with lack of veracity, details, and other specifics to make it useless for the consumer, and a win for Brand X.
   
   We don't know anything about the doctors, or how many doctors were polled, how many declined to take the poll etc. This is the same technique that you have employed here with your ?.
   
   Technology and slick pollsters are not trying to take the pulse of the people, they are more like pacemakers trying to change the results to their favor.
   
   It really shouldn't matter what Other People think of Trump, as you can follow him and what he says and make Your Own Decision. But, in the last several decades, people have been spoon fed their opinions by cable News, and the media, as well as the polls.
   
   I know too many people that make the opinion of others as their own because they don't want controversy, they want to blend in with the mass.
   
   PC is one of the latest tools in forcing the will of others onto the public. The Entertainment business is most on the left, and they do as much as they can to give their opinion of what the viewers should think. They do it on a subliminal level. still effective

      I agree with your analysis. Although I have been called from polling places, I no longer answer. I found that too many times their questions are skewed with a certain agenda in mind.

   The polls for what candidate is going to win in the primaries has been fairly accurate, the rest of these polls are subjective at best.  Maybe if that article had been from someone other than the most high profile liberal propaganda paper in the nation, I might take it seriously.
   
   Funny, they don't poll Clinton supporters for things that we would find offensive, that just seems to be the function of pollsters in their efforts to dress down the opposition.
   
   How about questions like:
   
   Do you feel that Capitalism should be done away with all together?
   
   Do you feel that Americans that are designated as white/caucasian should have to pay 50% of all income earned to minorities for past 'crimes' against other races?
   
   I mean...lets come up with some really outlandish and offensive questions and poll Clinton supporters for their answers (preferably the least educated ones we can find), I would love to see the response.

      Nothing in Clinton's platform is outlandish. Meanwhile, Trump wants to ban an entire religion, deport all illegal immigrants, calls women fat pigs, etc. If one supports racism and sexism, one should expect to be called on it.

   On a subliminal level the promises " to take our country back " and " to make America great again " could be considered a message directed at the American White male. The affect on about a third of White men knowing that the White House is occupied by African Americans for the first time in American history has not been polled. The fact that if that third of White men and those in their sphere of influence don't vote for Trump there is a possibility that the White male will again be denied entry into the White House for another eight years by a White woman or a Hispanic male. A poll that ask is the Trump success based on race may shine a different light on The Trump success so for in this part of America.

   First, I am a Canadian, so to me it won't make much difference who gets elected in my neighborhood down south. And second, what I would like to say is more a result of my simple observation than an educated guess.
   
   So, in my modest opinion, it may not matter so much how any of the presidential candidates may qualify for a president  -  but how much voters may qualify to elect someone who would make some positive difference. Namely, you elected someone like G.W. Bush who took you for a ride by dragging the country into a nonsensical and very expensive war. Half a million killed, crippled, blinded, and traumatized for life and billions of tax payers' dollars later  -  there is no democracy in Iraq, and America gained some new enemies while losing some old friends in the process.
   
   And then it might have been forgiven on the part of the voters, hadn't they elected him AGAIN for the second term.
   Are you getting my point?
   What does it really matter what polls are saying if :  1) people have no proven ability to think with their own minds, and 2) if the new head of the state will do what all his/her predecessors did before  -  dance to the music of those most influential at home and abroad?
   
   I don't think it's all that easy to run a country with so many unforeseen players and moves being involved in that chess game. So, mark my words, Denis, even though I am not much of a political observer  -  no matter who gets elected, very little will change. The advertised agendas have proven themselves not to mean much at all.
   
   You ask a kid whether he would prefer cereal or scrambled eggs for breakfast  -  he may say: "I want an ice cream". You ask voters whether they want republicans or democrats to win  -  they never thought of an "ice cream", being stuck with two parties which ultimately never proved to make much difference one over the other. People get so fixated on the ideologies and agendas that they don't notice how this great country with smart folks and incredible potential is just limping from one election to another. - Thank you for reading, it's not meant to be "eye-opening" just a modest opinion.

      Thank you for your input. You've done a superb job of showing the failure of our two party system. Cronyism and feeding the interests of big money, rarely answer the needs of the citizens. We put them in power and then they leave us in the dust.

   Public Policy and Yougov polls are biased left, and I wouldn't put it past trolls to put in answers that make Trump supporters look as bad as liberals say they are.
