doodlebugs on HubPages

I found Hubpages just over a year ago and haven't stopped writing since. I enjoy sharing what I know by writing articles and reading interesting hubs here. To pay the bills I work in the oil rigs, but I'm in love with alternative energy since I believe it is the way of the future. I also believe we can use clean burning natural gas from shales like the Marcellus Shale as motor fuel and as a bridge to alternative energy. I believe there is a lot of truth among the hype about the theory of "peak oil", see Peakoilstories.com   Some of my articles may come off a bit doomsdayish, but I have faith that through the power of community and technology we can solve our problems. In my spare time I love to SCUBA dive in fresh water lakes or when I get a chance to go down to Cozumel. I love nature photography. My latest hobby is to make my home super energy efficient and I just added a rooftop solar power system. My wife and I lived on a sailboat for a while, cruising the Caribbean and South and Central America on a shoestring budget aboard a vintage 1967 sloop that I bought for cheap in St. Thomas, USVI.  I learned to live cheaply while living on the boat, ( for about ten dollars a day back then.) I'm passionate about living on the cheap and using only what I need in terms of resources. I prefer the term "thrifty" instead of cheap. I love to write hubs about how to save money at home. Now I'm land bound and into growing an organic vegetable garden, fishing, hiking and learning more about everything. My wife and I have 4 shelter rescue dogs which deserve to be spoiled. Stevie Ray Vaughn is the greatest blues guitarist that ever lived.  I believe that life is lived to the fullest when you are constantly learning new things.
