ethel smith on HubPages
Ethel, having written extensively for Helium.com, and other websites, now feels that she would like to spread her Internet wings and try even more websites, such as Hubpages.
Initially this writing was just to earn a few pennies and to be a hobby when Ethel was ill and stuck at home. However, she was soon bitten with the writing bug and rediscovered her love of expression through the written word. She is also loving stretching her addled old brain in order to get to grips with new technology.
Looking back her early attempts at online writing were often poor and where possible these have been updated. However Ethel has decided to leave some as a means for her to judge if she is progessing or not.
Ethel hopes that her writing informs, entertains and has some individual style.
For Ethel and her Hubby 2009 looks like it will see no holiday. Last year was spent in a caravan whilst their home was restored from the 2007 floods. Despite what the insurance paid it cost a small fortune which was hard to find. So apologies for all the holiday hubs that Ethel will be creating as she reminisces about past holidays and shares these memories with you.
UPDATES
It is 19th June and Ethel has been writing a while now on Hubpages and enjoying virtually meeting lots of new people.
One of her most recent hubs tries to draw attention to China and its appalling record on animal cruelty and the welfare of animals. It was a diffcult hub to create as its is such a sad and painful situation. However the western world needs to recognise this behaviour and not just simply turn away because it is painful to see. However be warned this contains upsetting images.
Following on Ethel has tried to draw some attention to Dolphin killing in Denmark. These trusting creatures are rewarded for their trust by a violent, unecessary death. Comments received have included an offensive tirade from some sort of person, who felt that the only way to get their point across was to swear and be abusive. Apart from the fact that the comment was too stupid to warrant a reply the writer needs to remember that ultimately HubPages is a family friendly site. This means that Ethel has actually omitted some of the worst aspects of animal cruelty that any right thinking person should be able to see beneath the bare bones of each article. Yes there are terrible happenings occurring around the world to people also but that does not mean that animal cruelty is acceptable.
The murder of an innocent, retired lady in her local city prompted Ethel to write a hub dedicated to the lady concerned, Joan Charlton. As a writer it is hard to know exactly what to say on such a terrible subject without upsetting anyone. Ethel has been touched though to receive communication from a relative of Joan's who has been pleased that Joan's murder has been highlighted in such a way. That this lady found time to send such communication shows what a caring person she is. However it does show that even an amatuer writer has to think carefully what thoughts they are expressing on-line.
With the death of Michael Jackson on 25th June 2009 Ethel has added a hub dedicated to the man, his life and his world. RIP.
The news though is constantly sending shock waves through Ethel's world and so her latest hub regarding Russia's atrocious Human Rights record needed to be added.
As at 10th August 2009 Ethels' writing is spreading around the Internet. The latest venture is AC or Associated Content.
