No way - they should NEVER have to put up with violence ever.  They should get as much help as possible to be safe .
I wrote a hub about the subject.

No, I don't agree.  No one should have to put up with violence.  It is detrimental for her AND the family if she tolerates the violence.  And any man who would cause violence to his wife or children is a coward.

It is sad when women undergo physical and verbal violence from their husband. Since women basically have their life centered around their family , they tolerate any violence for the fear it might break their family and hurt the children.

Ummm. No, you idiot. A woman should never remain in a violent family. If she is suffering abuse, she should leave the family. Hit me and you will be sick for a week, maybe a month. Depends if I hate you or not.

Definitely do not agree. What example is she setting for her children and other family members if she stays in an abusive relationship? Everyone deserves happiness in their life so tolerating violence is absolutely out of the question for me.

A society should be a tolerant society but violence of any kind should not be tolerated at all and especially to woman kind as she is beloved daughter and loving mother of someone at least people should take that into account before bullying them.
Not tolerance to save family but educating husbands, ability to respect their partner would be a solution.

NO WAY!! WOMEN are human like MEN too. We were not born to be used and abused physically or emotionally. Yep, I do pity some women who let their men do whatever they want. That's SICK!!

This is 21st century. Not 201 BC. Be wise. Have some heart and don't live in the dark. If you want respect from women, EARN IT!

I GREW UP WITH VIOLENCE IN THE HOME AND I USE THAT WORD LIGHTLY BECAUSE IT WAS NOT A HOME IT WAS A CAGE.  DAD WOULD COME IN AND START. IT TOOK ME A VERY LONG TIME TO TRUST A MAN, OR BELIEVE ANYTHING A MAN SAID.  VIOLENCE NOT ONLY HURTS THE WOMAN IT WRECKS HAVOC ON THE CHILDREN AND THEIR YOUNG MINDS.  MOM STAYED BECAUSE  OF FEAR AND RELIGIOUS REASONS. FEAR SHE THOUGHT SHE COULD NOT LOOK AFTER HER CHILDREN WITHOUT MONEY EVEN THOUGH SHE DID WORK AND RELIGIOUS REASONS WERE SHE WAS MARRIED IN A CHURCH AND BELIEVED IN GOD. ...IT IS ALWAYS PUT ON THE WOMAN THE WORDS "FOR THE SAKE OF THE FAMILY" WHY NOT PUT IT BACK ON THE MALE AND SAY. A MAN SHOULD NEVER BE VIOLENT FOR THE SAKE OF THE FAMILY?

I think that women tolerate it because they are trying to protect their children. BUT I do not think that they should tolerate it. The choice to not tolerate it though is often complicated by the domineering presence of the abuse or violence in the home. The women need to find the courage to leave the violence and protect their families by leaving.

No women do not have to tolerate any form of violence for the sake of family, beit physical, verbal or any emotional forms of violence. We weren't designed to hold hurt and pain, but we were made to nurture and love.
