Why Are The Words “Sorry”, “Thank You”, And “Please” Very Powerful In A Relationship?
courtesy is a lost art. any form of cihld discipline is out the window today. one must be taught courtesy and how one presents oneself in polite company from day one of life. incredible what this entire world has become.
They are powerful words in general. They show respect and thoughfulness.
Isn't that what most people want? It only makes sense that a relationship would last much longer if people are thoughtful and respectful of each other
Well you definetly want your partner to know that :
1) You have manners
2) You show respect & gratitude
3) You can admitt when you are wrong
It all boils down to respect, which is most likely one of the reasons that some couples stay together has long as they do. No one should be taken for granted.
They are powerful words because they come before the part where you "kiss and make up".
Because we have been conditioned to respond to them as we feel respected by them. The words in themselves have the potential for misuse as they have become powerful tools and may be applied in a manipulative way.
They all represent respect for each others feelings, because without respect you have no relationship"
Sorry isn't powerful at all; unless it is a one time thing - you can say sorry til the cows come home but if your behavior doesn't change - no one will believe you!
Manners on the other hand - they are simply showing respect and that is all important in any type of relationship with another person; no matter what type of relationship it is.
Respect in a relationship is something to be valued. When you get too familiar to use these words, it becomes dangerous. Everyone needs to feel that they are appreciated. Thank you is something that confirms that. Please is just something that needs to be said when you ask for something because it shows that you are not demanding it. I dont think i have to explain why sorry is important. Whats more important is that these words are meant and not just said.
sorry means you care so much for the person and that you are sorry you have hurt them in that way
thank you means you value everything they do for you and every sacrifice they make and you do not take them for granted
please means that you are not taking advantage of the love they have for you to make them do anything you want

Is being in a "friends with benefits" relationship a good idea? One of my best friends is (just recently) in this kind of situation with one of her guy friends. It is none of my business what she does or doesn't do, but I just wanted to get a general idea of how common this is, and is it...

I'm part of a family full of people who don't say I'm sorry. I had to actually learn how to say those words. My mother never said I'm sorry to me for some of the hurtful things she said and did.Have you ever had moments with family or friends where you couldn't utter those two words? Why?
