Rio Del Mar, just south of Santa Cruz, CA.

It is a long very clean beach on theNorthern edge of Monterey Bay, just off Highway 1.

I have spent many hours there, just walking, watching the surfers and the sea lions play in the water.

It also has some wonderful sunsets for those of a romantic inclination.

I have two favorite beach spots:

Rehoboth Beach, DE, because it has a wonderful boardwalk and a revitalized main street with lots of shops, restaurants and free seasonal entertainment at the new bandstand which overlooks the ocean.

Hilton Head Island, SC beaches, especially Coligny Beach because it has wide clean, hard packed sand which makes bike riding directly on the beach an awe-inspiring activity. Coligny beach has great facilities including colorful wooden rocking chairs, wooden swings, benches and synchronized water fountains that visitors can run through and cool off in. There is also a nearby Tiki Hut and bar which has volleyball nets set up. The island also has many fine restaurants and shops and miles of paved multiuse trails that are perfect for biking, walking, jogging and rollerblading.

My family and I visit Long Beach Island off the coast of New Jersey quite often. It's a beautiful 21ish mile stretch of private beaches that are family friendly and very clean.

White Bay on Jost van Dyke, British Virgin Islands.
It's absolutely gorgeous and if you go at the right time it's mostly deserted. There are several day trips from surrounding islands like St. Thomas and Tortola but they all return in the afternoon, that's the best time to go. There's only one way to get to shore at White Bay, swim, hence the name of the most popular bar...The Soggy Dollar Bar.

I absolutely loved a secluded beach spot near Clearwater, FL....not too many people and it was clean.

Largely because I am a native of Los Angeles, my favorite beach spot is the entire Southern-California coastline.

My favorite beach spot is Sandbanks Beach in Sandbanks Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada.  It is one of the biggest beaches in Canada and looks really nice.  There are lots of people but if you want to go for a relaxing walk or get away from the crowd there is lots of free space.

I took the picture while I was at Sandbanks Beach.  The beach was really busy with hundreds of people but you can not tell because I went for a walk.  So you can people watch or get away from the crowd.

Narrawallee and Mollymook Beaches on the Shoalhaven Coast of New South Wales, Australia are by far my favourite beaches. They have some of the best surf in the world for recreational surfers. Also, slightly North of these gems you'll find Whitehaven Beach which has the whitest sand in the World. Come to think of it, Bombora Beach, Racecourse Beach, Dolphin Point and Pebbly Beach are also worth a mention. Pebbly Beach is particularly amazing because the Kangaroos don't just come up to you, they have been known to go for the ocassional body surf next to the surfers. Amazing stuff. Did I mention the dolphins, whales, and black swans?
