I learned many years ago to brake smoothly and early on wet, rainy roads - in the easy way... I drove into another car's rear. My insurance company at the time, however, learned about insuring young drivers the hard way.

I was once pulled over for my tag light being "out". The officer told me that if he saw it out again he would give me a ticket. I got home and started looking and found that my old pickup truck didn't even have a place to mount a tag light or any wires going to the bumper!

When I took my Test some years ago, the Examiner told me to park behind a line of four parked cars.  I tucked myself as neatly as I could behind the last on, leaving space for him to move out.  I was failed - because when I was told to move off, I had to back up a little to start off.  I had thought that the whole idea was to tuck myself in as neatly as possible!   But no.  I was told it was a trick that many applicants fell for!
