   I do very much think that it is "personal to them" and whether my soul identifies with the question, and it becomes personal to me, dictates whether or not I provide some response.

   I, too, often wonder this same question. I believe, for the most part, that questions concerning relational issues are from a personal place; but then there are those times when questions appear to be completely random.
   
   I know, personally, I have asked random questions that responders assumed were personal to me. NOT! Great question!

   Yes I do, unless they state otherwise. But it is kinder not to judge unduly or harshly for it too. People have genuine questions needing answers and solutions. And we are all human ... we all seek answers in the end... to life.

   Honestly? No. I believe the question asked is because they are stumped and would like an answer; or they are analyzing the subject more deeply. After answering many questions a person can determine if its personal or for more information. Great question by the way.

   Many questions sound like they are personal to the person asking, but definitely not all. 
   
   Since questions on HP can be monetized there has been a dramatic increase in questions that are just meant to prompt good answers and interesting hubs. Many of the people I follow ask a lot of questions that will potentially show up in searches and might also spark some great hubs. I appreciate these thought provoking questions and find them quite inspiring.

   I believe some of the questions may be personal to them but not all. I find relationship questions may be the most personal. Some of my relationship questions come  from actual issues that have gained my attention that may be of general interest. If a question is personal to a hubber, hopefully that person asks the question with the thought  it may apply to others as well. You can often tell how personal the question is by the wording of the question.  The personal aspect can be removed from the question by avoiding the use of words like "my boyfriend".

   I think quite often the questions are personal to the person, yet I have asked some that are personal to someone close to me.  I have also asked some to provide research for a hub when I wanted another point of view.  Questions are a great way to get ideas and opinions for hubs.  It is varied then by the author.

    I think there are certain words in questions that trigger emotions, especially in political issues and social issues. It's easy for people to relate to thes words and take them personally.

    Can be.. also a good way to look at things in a different perspective. Maybe they are questioning for clarification on their own actions but of coarse all depends on what is being asked.

    I think it's usually personal because it has to be of interest to them or they wouldn't ask it.  A situation, an opinion or a national event always inspires us!

    I try not to. It can cause you to have unnecessary bias or ignore something important that they are saying. But we are humans and never absolutely free of our perceptions. So I try not to, but still sometimes make such assumptions.

    Not really. I think they want a personal opinion from others. As in can someone identify with it, has someone seen this happen, or does anyone have information on the subject of the question.
    
    If its personal, you can probably tell. Usually they'll say so.

    No, I sometimes ask questions that have nothing to do with me, they can be related to something a friend or someone I know is experiencing, or something I heard about and started wondering... So, I assume the same about others, that they also ask questions that have nothing to do with them...
