What does it mean if you get MINUS number of views?

In the last 24 hrs I got 2 views altogether. (What google traffic there was - probably only around 18-20 views a day - disappeared on 29 September.) I decided to check "traffic sources" from my account page, only to find that one view came from hubpages and the only other one shown, from google.co.uk, was -1 view! Now, that is adding insult to injury!  I am beginning to think Google really don't like me - is it something I said? smile I have decided to abandon trying to figure Google out - but out of curiosity, how can you have a minus view?

Your views could have dropped greatly over the last few days for a number of reason.  But for one it could have a lot to do with the recent storm damage, from Hurricane Sandy that had affected many of us in the Eastern Section of The States. Most people are in a bad situation and without power still. Definitely no time to be viewing others articles including yours, mine and a lot of others here in the community.  This is just a feeling I have in reference to your minus views lately.  And google in addition has not been too forgiving to any of us lately over the past six months or so. Be patient your views will increase over the next week, I'm sure of this.

My views eloped with the last algorithm and I don't expect them back as I have no idea where or why they went. However, that's a different issue, it was just the negative number that was puzzling me:) Thanks for answering.

That must be some sort of a type-out or something ... Minus one view makes no sense. I have some low views myself but never got into the minus range - I do think that is logically unsound: to give numbers of views in the minus. Unless Google is starting to count all the people in the world who are not reading your articles ... Strange.

I've never seen a 'minus view' count, but I can only imagine that, if you do a lot of editing to a hub, each time you edit a 'view' is counted.  When HubPages counts the actual viewer views, outside of your own, the count may be readjusted, resulting in a 'minus view'.  Not sure if this is the case, but thought I'd throw it out there.

That's a nice theory, but I hadn't done any editing or viewed the hub myself.

I have had that for the first time in the last week, had -1 views from two different sources.  Weird.

If you have a Google AdSense account and you check your stats sometimes they show a minus to signify a decrease in traffic to your page(s). So, -1 probably means that your traffic decreased by one...

I've had that on my views several times and I just ignore it. The minus signs has shown up on a large view count too. I think it is just some kind of type error or a program error. You probably still got the view. Just ignore it.

My views went down a bit after the hurricane too. Remember their are a lot of people living in New York and New Jersey alone. Many of the other states are without power also. I wouldn't worry just yet.

I have seen this before! Its a problem with hubpages. When it happened to me, it got a lot worse before ti got better. I eventually had nonsense numbers like -11245. Its more than just Google, as mine were minus from all different sources. Send hubpages an email and then it might fix itself more quickly.

I have just checked mine as i'd never noticed it before and didn't even deem it possible?

However.... I have not made an edit, don't even think i've viewed my own Hubs either.... but -2 views from Hubpages and -1 view from Facebook...

    Very strange indeed!

I have a -3 on a image page views. I asked this question before and never got an answer. The -3 is still there although the pages views on the hub has gone up, the number of page views on the slideshow always shows -3. This has been the same value for over a month. So i guess it is a bug somewhere.

It's a glitch, but stay on top of your account and make sure you don't find spammy comments being posted or your ad program stuff being hijacked. I can't say they are related, but it appeared to be that way when several other hubbers had the same thing happening at once, and multiple people reported things getting hijacked.

Ad program stuff hijacked? Sounds scary but what exactly do you mean?

Same here.  I have two sources with -1 views.  And they've been there for a few days now.
