      No, I did not realize was not the place to ask the question.  The feature added yesterday is a good one but I think it should have been placed below the copy.  Thank you for your comment.

   Yes! I prefer that too. Actually, it was this morning that I realized we have the option to add the copyright mark, but got a little dismayed when I found out it was hardly seen.

      That was exactly my reaction when I was met with a notice saying that my copyright had been placed  incorrectly below the content instead of in the suggested position below the adverts - it appears to have automatic detection working.  Thanks, Sally

   There would likely be some advantage in doing this to scare off potential copyright infringers. However it wouldn't deter those responsible for sites such as Rank08 dot com who have no scruples about blatantly copying the article content on HubPages.

   Sounds a helpful suggestion. I've just looked one of my pages up and down and nowhere is there any mention of copyright. Where appropriate, we're asked to provide coyright information about images we use,so we should have our writing covered.

      There is a new feature which has been added.  You will see it below the capsules - it will be added automatically if you click it and ends up below the adverts and not below the written copy.

   It seems to me that you have the freedom (at least here on HP) to put it anywhere you want by simply embedding the information in a separate textbox and placing it in the sequence as you desire...at the start, end, or even in the middle.

      A new feature was added yesterday - so that when I went to my hub, it warned me that I had it in a text capsule and it gave me a place where I could insert it, right beneath the adverts and not beneath the actual text, in tiny letters.

   Yes definitely! I use my site name under photos and at the bottom of most hubs but often wonder if that is enough.  There should be something more prominent which would help put people off plageurising the hubs, especially those who do so accidentally - something prominent would make them more aware that copyright exists.  Great question.

   As far as I know, we are responsible for adding our own copyright mark. It can be placed anywhere in our hub, so it would be easy to put it in a prominent place. I've seen some authors place it in a text capsule just under the title, others place it in the article after an introduction. I usually place my copyright notice at the bottom of my hub...it's a matter of personal preference.

    I just do not get it. If you make a million dollars a year off your writing. If someone steals that writing there is a monetary loss. So hire a lawyer, let the other guy make money and then take it back from her.
    
    But what the heck with you folks who write to be heard and then complain that you are? Sallybea. you are not a professional writer so that you must concern yourself with copyright. The values in your writing is in the good ideas and knowledge, why do you want to limit that?

       I don't think it really matters if you are writing for pay, or for fun, or for sharing knowledge, it is still your writing and no one should copy and paste it without permission from the author.

       I think I skipped over something important. The big "C" that shows copyright has traditionally been tiny so as not to interfere with the work. Like an artists' little signature on a painting. It is like lawyer speak and should not take precedence.

       The size of C is not the issue, it is the position on the page under question.  Using the new feature one would be unable to change it in any way because the size has been set and cannot be altered in edit mode.

    Not really because traditionally copyright information is usually displayed in the footer of the website. Displaying it above the fold or within content may hurt my pages as this is not relevant to my content. I think it is in the correct position.

       With the information under the ads, it is not prominent. I think it should be at the top under my name or at the end of my article, not under the ads.

    A larger copyright blurb would be nice. I don't see where I can add it to any existing hubs. Where do I find what you are looking for? I realize I can write my own blurb, but other than that I don't see where there is anything available anywhere, even under the adverts (or is it in place already without us having to edit the hub)? I'll have to look again.

       In edit mode, below the recipe capsule, it says display options, click on the word, not the question mark and you will see a drop down menu and you can add it here.

    Actually I do not care if it is prominent as long as it does what it is supposed to. I do not know if it is started yet but I was just reading a newsletter which mentioned an option to automatically add a Hub Pages approved copyright notice.

       Well, it sounds like maybe it was an accidental report.  What I previously said was I would like it more prominently displayed.  Scrapers do not copy that far down the page.  Also, that there would a pen name option since a lot of writers ghostwrite.

    First thank you for pointing out that there is an optional copyright logo I can add to my article.  I should spend more time on the right hand side of the page!
    
    I added this information to 4 articles so far and I think it is large enough.  People who would steal your article can read too. 
    
    As an amateur photographer I sometimes worry about copyright but not to any great degree.  There was a case where a photographer found his photos in use at a commercial website and successfully sued for $12,000.00 but this is rare.  Mostly you will contact the offending website owner and they will remove your article or pay you.  If you threaten to call their ISP and have their service suspended your may get somewhere quicker. 
    
    You may think there is an offender out there when you see snippets of what looks like your work on other websites.  How will you find offenders?  Take a paragraph or sentence of your text and put it in the Google search engine (using quotations around your text) and see if any exact matches come up.  You will find plenty of information regarding actions to take with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.  You can see the highlights at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Mi … yright_Act
