I'm sick of seeing every other thread in the forums, and every fourth question posted being somebody trolling for hatred in either religion or politics.
Athiests need to shut the hell up and be atheists. You are making all of us other athiests look like nimrods because you're trying to push your beliefs onto others just like you complain about others doing to you.
Religious nuts need to shut the hell up because if all you want to do is start trouble with anybody who doesn't believe what you believe.
Political freaks all need to shut the hell up because this isn't a political soapbox, it's a freelance writing community. If you want to waste your lives arguing with other people on the internet, go to political forums and argue there.

I almost NEVER visit the forums because it's all the same rehashed bs day in and day out. These forums are not a pleasant place to be.
That said, HubPages needs to do something about it. All you've got here is a steaming pile of hateful dogs***. How is this helping the image of HubPages? How is it promoting anything good? We should be focused on helping everybody write better articles, so the entire domain itself gets better rankings on Google...not arguing about whether or not we're being watched by some divine entity.

I know this post isn't going to make it stop.
This is more of an attempt at getting HubPages attention than anything. The TOS needs to be updated, and constant hatred and trolling for hatred should be dissallowed. Period.

Agreed. This is why I rarely visit the forums.

While I agree with you that the hatred should stop, I'm also kind of turned off of your argument by the fact that you return such hatred with rather vitriolic language and hatred as well. Just a thought.... I think it would be more persuasive if it was less inflammatory itself. But maybe this is more of a rant, in which case, it sounds pretty good...

Nice to see that other people feel the same way.  I rarely look at the forums these days.  What we should do is have interesting threads of our own, making the less palatable ones obsolete.

I absolutely agree with Mattforte.  Our purpose here is to produce writing that lifts up the entire site  so that all of us can earn a few dollars and have our voices heard.  When you lower  the quality of what you allow on the site, you ruin it for everybody.  HP really needs to get rid of the negative people and the negative attitudes so that we can all progress.

Good luck.  The forums have recently been reorganized so that the dross is now permanently mixed in with the gold.  I'm not sure what the point of the restructuring was and can only presume it's something along the same lines as rolling out a new design for the Amazon capsules without doing a proper beta test first.

I was thinking the forums would be so much nicer to use if they just didn't display threads of politics or religion on the front page, instead just leaving those for the people who want to go to those categories and duke it out.

It's not like anybody ever changes their minds, or comes to some epiphany because of those "discussions" anyways.

Should we let one individual decide what subjects are to be discussed on a forum?  Does it matter at all if there are members that enjoy discussions on topics that not everyone is interested in?  Has something changed, the forums at HubPages was never mandatory, the only members that visited the forums did so voluntarily?

HubPage forums should only allow Christians to chat

Maybe it would be less of an issue if the main forum page was arranged differently. Most forums I use have the just the categories on the home page, making it easy for people to avoid the topics they don't want to read or talk about. However, since HubPages has the categories shoved off to the side, and the "latest activity" front and center, it makes it nearly impossible to ignore the politics and religion. Perhaps there could be an option to turn off or hide the "latest activity" feed?

Great suggestion. I would take advantage of that hide-a-topic feature if it was available.

Speaking of hatepages and how the forum is set up, I hate the changes they've made to the forums, LOL. For example, why is this thread under HubPages Knowledge Exchange?" All those tedious counting games and word games are now under "hp knowledge exchange" also. Counting to 200,000 on a forum has nothing to do with helping each other learn how to be more successful here.

I don't see anyone else complaining, so I guess it's my problem alone. Forever alone. Boo hoo.

Everyone hates me. It's because I'm so clearly superior to you all.

Hi Greek (I accidentally typed Freek at first-- I kind of like it....) It's been a while! Seduced any innocent ladies recently? Fended off any overly-interested gentlemen?

For the OP and whoever else... smile

    Listen, children, to a story
    That was written long ago,
'Bout a kingdom on a mountain
    And the valley-folk below.

On the mountain was a treasure
    Buried deep beneath the stone,
    And the valley-people swore
They'd have it for their very own.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
    Come the judgement day,
    On the bloody morning after....
    One tin soldier rides away.

So the people of the valley
Sent a message up the hill,
    Asking for the buried treasure,
Tons of gold for which they'd kill.

Came an answer from the kingdom,
"With our brothers we will share
All the secrets of our mountain,
    All the riches buried there."

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
    Come the judgement day,
    On the bloody morning after....
    One tin soldier rides away.

Now the valley cried with anger,
"Mount your horses! Draw your sword!"
    And they killed the mountain-people,
So they won their just reward.

Now they stood beside the treasure,
On the mountain, dark and red.
Turned the stone and looked beneath it...
"Peace on Earth" was all it said.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
    Come the judgement day,
    On the bloody morning after....
    One tin soldier rides away.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
    Come the judgement day,
    On the bloody morning after....
    One tin soldier rides away.

Some people enjoy a nice debate. I know I do. But as soon as people start name-calling, I hit "unfollow" on the thread. (Sorry to anyone I stopped debating with because of this.)
