I believe that it's better to face your greatest fear and fail than to never try to face your fear at all.

I've got acrophobia. It probably developed after a suggestion in my formative stages.

I have dived from the top board but I never ever really enjoyed it. Now I don't. I don't see any signs at all of the situation improving.

Even now I would like to get rid of this phobia. Got any suggestions?

      Thanks. smile

Hey Quicksand, go read my article about how I overcame my fear of heights.  It's actually about a reality show I was on.  It's one of my featured hubs.

Oops! So sorry I got the impression you were offering help to get over fears and phobias. Your post and your pseudonym suggests just that. I realized that the case was different. My mistake. Cannot delete my post now. My apologies.

Many people do not lead true, authentic lives at all.   They do not OWN their own lives but live the lives that their parents, society, religious authorities, and others deem that they should live.   It is at sadly at death that they realize that they never led authentic lives at all.   Many people realize only too late that what they could have been.

I agree with gmwilliams...people don't know what they're missing when they decide to how big of world is out there and step out of the box.

I don't need to have an interesting, wondrous life. When I die, who cares how much enjoyment I gave to myself? There are many people and animals that are not being granted their basic needs. What really matters is the impact that you have on others.

Imagination is much more powerful than reasoning.  To stimulate the mind's fantasizing abilities, use colorful imagery rather than dry data and facts.  This is a great healing process.

That reminded me of one of my favorite quotes!
"Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”
      Guess who? Albert Einstein!

The 1 life that we subsume will inevitability end. It is wise to fulfill it, while it lasts. Fear is only a physiological factor, of the many we contain. Do no fear your greatest fear, but embrace it. - The Wise Man
